Thunder Strike
It will be interesting to see the reaction to this announcement. But congratz to FP on signing a protectorate agreement. Edit: After reading it again it seems a rather odd protectorate agreement. Mainly because it should be about protecting FP and I don't see why provisions are included that facilitate the possibility of FP entering a war along side GOONS in a defensive or aggressive manner. I wouldn't expect a 'protector' insert such provisions in a protectorate agreement with a new alliance.
If Facepunch Alliance is attacked, GOONS is obliged to find swift resolution to the conflict
It would make more sense for it to be at FP's request rather than an obligation to intervene. They way this is written implies a loss of sovereignty by FP to GOONS. Edited May 28, 2010 by Thunder Strike
memoryproblems
How disappointing, Facepunch Alliance seemed so promising. Perhaps it will serve you well, but personally, I'm not optimistic. Edited May 28, 2010 by memoryproblems
Ryuzaki
GOONS and Facepunch now own the low NS ranges.

Lord Brendan
Good luck with this relationship. I'm not sure that GOONS was a very good choice as a protector. I question the ability of the GOONS to provide the monetary aid your 256 nations without harbors so desperately need, seeing as they are themselves a very lower tier-heavy alliance. There are tech deals of course, but that's not nearly as effective and you'll need to find quite a massive amount of tech buyers. edit: that's actually pretty funny how you included the DEFCON condition. Well done. Edited May 28, 2010 by Lord Brendan

Honestly, as the largest alliance that still does large scale off site recruiting, GOONs is the best choice in protector for them

Ardus
For those of you placing bets on GOONS for "who will win Facepunch as a protectorate", please step forward to collect your prize. Congratulations to the both of you.
R3nowned
I question GOONS as a protector, because, as others have said, there won't be a lot of aid flowing from GOONS to FP - aid that FP needs quite badly. Even so, good luck.
AirMe
You spelled grenade wrong in the topic. Congrats on this treaty. I look forward to Facepunch becoming active in politics. I like seeing new faces.
President Obama
Congrats to GOONS and Facepunch. Considering some of the similarities involved in the way both of you operate(OOC: Off site recruiting) this was the natural choice for Facepunch to make. Hopefully GOONS can guide you to the same success they have had as an invasion alliance.

Penkala
Nicely played Defcon joke
Thank God. For a moment I thought UPN would've protected these guys. I'm thrilled FP chose Goons to protect them.
Agreed on this too. After UPN's little game they don't deserve a treaty with FPA. Also, they're a pathetic alliance with pathetic allies.
Mainly because it should be about protecting FP and I don't see why provisions are included that facilitate the possibility of FP entering a war along side GOONS in a defensive or aggressive manner.
I believe that's a fairly standard clause. Ragnablok has it, for example. If I were ever founding an alliance I'd make damn sure I had one of those. Gives you a 'legitimate' in that IRON & the Hegemony [s]won't[/s] shouldn't be able to whine about while showing your thanks to your protector. Rebel Virginia
Considering Facepunch has 200 members I don't see why a protectorate treaty was needed, considering they already have enough members to be recognized as an alliance by almost all parties. An MDP or something should have sufficed. That said, I am not at all surprised to see this. Based on GOONS' response to my rather benign comment it was quite clear Facepunch was already firmly in its camp. This is merely a formalization. That said, the juvenile attitudes often displayed by members of both alliances demonstrates that this treaty is quite appropriate. A match made in heaven even. I am sure that Facepunch will be satisfied in its new role as GOONS' iFOK, doing on red what iFOK has done on purple. Unfortunately I fear NPO is too smart to take any bait thrown at them by Facepunch on GOONS' behest. Deny it all you want, but mark my words world, this will be the future and this is the purpose of this treaty: to give GOONS the reason it needs to intervene when Facepunch suffers the much deserved consequences of whatever actions it will be taking. I can only ponder as to whom is pulling GOONS' strings. Lastly, the article regarding DEFCON level seems a little unnecessary in my opinion. To each his own.
