Address

Greetings Planet Bob,

Once again the New Pacific Order is proud to release another edition of PNN International. This volume shares some internal events of importance to the Order, a couple of observations of international events (expressed with tongue in cheek playfullness or disdain, you decide), comic relief and a statement of Pacifican Pride which is very well written by Comrade Wentworth.

We hope you read and enjoy the articles as much as we enjoyed working on them and now release for your entertainment.

In closing I would like to offer my personal congratulations to the following:

New Pacific Order Praetorian Guard o/ - Thank you for three years of service! Truly an institution (currently led by the awesomeness that is ZetaDefender) within the New Pacific Order which has helped protect and make the NPO what it is today!

Imperial Officer Brennan of the Imperial Office of Media Affairs o/ - Well deserved promotion Comrade! Although you are my boss, you have been my friend and Comrade first and foremost. I know the New Pacific Order is a better place today with your leadership.

Lord Valleo
Coordinator, Imperial Office of Media Affairs
"If the other [Alliances] wish to taint themselves by hoarding obscene nations solely for bragging rights of their total numbers, so be it. I personally take pride in belonging to the only major region which exercises hygiene." - Francos Spain, January 16, 2004
On April 22, 2007, the foundations of the modern Praetorian Guard were laid by Vladimir, Umbrae Noctem, and Loucifer. They set out to create an organization capable of finding and processing ghosts who flew the Pacifican flag or affiliation without actually being a member. Over the three years that have passed, the Guard has become an elite group within the NPO who root out rogues, pirates, spies, and anyone else wishing to harm Pacifica.

The Guard's duties and responsibilities are "Removing false members, internal security of the Order, [and] keeping Pacifica safe from all threats."

From the Guard's wiki page:
The Praetorian Guard is an institution based on an internal meritocracy. The only way to enter the Guard is to be voted in by its current membership. For this to occur, members must first show their willingness and competence in the field by carrying out the duties of the Praetorian.

... Being a Praetorian Guard is no "Lets look for some pirates" job, but a responsible and challenging task. Being more clever than those who think they could harm Pacifica is not always easy, but it is of utmost importance and one of the most valuable tasks done for the NPO.
The Guard is currently led by Prefect Zeta Defender, Centurion Gandroff and Centurion Lord of Darkness.

Worldwide shock has ensued due to the arrest of Eloi Cole at the site of the Large Hadron Collider experiment earlier this month. According to some of our more respected sources, Mr. Cole was officially sent to a mental health institution due to his attempts to sabotage the Biggs Boson experiment. However, special sources from the Pacific News Network has uncovered the true facts!

The identity of the would-be saboteur who was arrested at the Large Hadron Collider is Justin Bunkers-Smith, a known Pacifican hater who has repeatedly made the bizarre claim that he was from the future. Praetorian Guard authorities suspect that Bunkers-Smith’s real goal was to prevent the completion of the Cortath’s Particle Experiment (CPE).

The CPE supposedly takes advantage of the LHC installations to collide under-subatomic particles at faster-than-light speeds with the intention to find experimental proof of the Pacifican Boson, an under-subatomic particle said to be responsible for holding Planet Bob and its forces together in harmony. It is a well known fact that Mountain Dew is needed aside Nutella to create the required spatial conditions for the existence of the Pacifican Boson.

Bunkers-Smith was seized by the Praetorians in an undercover operation after Swiss police put him in a secure mental health facility in Geneva. According to anonymous information received by PNN, Bunkers-Smith claims that "the discovery of the Pacifican Boson led to a Planet Bob horribly controlled by Pacifican Forces! Trolling has been banned, bandwaggoning has been forgotten, and jackboots are now mandatory for everyone"

According to reports leaked from Mary’s Fantaboulous Hospital Psychological Department, and the partial results leaked from Praetorian questionings, the suspect had already traveled back in time a few times to try to disrupt the discovery of the Boson. Claims are that he is responsible for Vox Populli, Blackstone Collusion, the Eiffel tower, the AH1N1 virus, the downfall of the Power Rangers franchise and Michael Bay’s awful Transformer movies.

“The winner takes it all. The loser standing small. Beside the victory. That’s her destiny!” Indeed, that phrase can be easily applied to IRON’s opponents in the recent TOP-C&G war, which was a larger part of the Second Unjust War. For those of you who don’t know, IRON was forced to surrender, and as seems to be the trend set by “those people”, they have been saddled with rather large reparations payments. We know the sting of those don’t we comrades?

IRON has been a great friend to Pacifica, and has stood by Her through countless conflicts. Even when IRON briefly joined the Coalition of the Cowards during the War of Armageddon, she came to Pacifica’s defence. After that unpleasantness, the wounds were healed and kisses given all round.

Earlier this month, the President of IRON Peron posted A letter in the IRON Embassy informing us of their plight. Accordingly, Comrade Straylight posted a request in the Body Republic that we, the rank and file membership of the Order send our messages to our brother and sisters in IRON. To help our friends in their hour of need. The response was overwhelmingly positive with many messages of support and hope for IRON. Here is a sample of some of the things Pacificans had to say:

“Stay strong, IRON! As we near the end of our rediculous terms, we can certainly understand how you feel! Keep your heads up, work together and you'll get through this! I look forward to a strong IRON and Pacifica standing together again!” Anhur

“IRON- Rebuilding is possible. Never give up the fight and you will suceed. Character isn't based off acheivments that came easy, but from the ones that were difficult.”
Sinudorm

These comments and many, many more were recently posted on IRON’s fourms. It is a great thing to see, an alliance that has been battered and has been forced to bleed both money and treasure to be able to lend its moral support to an alliance about to enter a very trying period. This is what Lady Pacifica is: a Valkyrie when she is angered. An Angle of Mercy to her friends in need. I am heartend to see the true spirit of Pacifica shining in the many wonderful messages. With luck and hard work our IRON brothers and sisters will triumph in their time of adversity, grow closer and strong in their darkest hour. That the day will come when we will both reclaim our rightful place in the sun. That we stand together as brothers and sisters in arms against all that would oppose.

Athens Muscles in on Mushroom Kingdom Turf

With the recent political gaffs on the part of Athens, Londo and company appear to be attempting to muscle in on the stomping grounds of Mushroom Kingdom. For years Mushroom Kingdom has provided Planet Bob with a barrel of laughs and smug commentary, something perfected through intense trial and error deep within a hidden smoke filled room within the Archon's castle. One bounces ideas off the other to gauge the laugh response and if it scores high enough, the smug makes its way onto these forums. Generally MK has always been well received by the denizens of this planet, recent notables include MK's response to the Purple Awards, a priceless thread in which Stumpy of Vanguard was crowned King of Purple. MK lead the charge though in a hilarious onslaught of memes and witticism. There was also the CN Awards which became the major debut of the smug face. It had been used sparingly prior to that thread however the amount of awards MK won brought its use to epic levels. All in all, Mushroom Kingdom has provided the world many laughs over the years but it appears a challeger is arising.

Athens dedicated itself to attempt to take the number one spot of the new hegemony from MK by conspiring and then attacking Knight of Ni last year. While the world cried out in outrage, not necessarily for the action itself but because of the moral superiority Athens possess, Athens just laughed and laughed, showing the world how funny it really was. With the masterful posting of Londo and company, they almost had the world opinion sway in their favor until Archon brought down the hammer, forcing Athens to cancel their plans for world domination and apologize. Athens was not to be discouraged however. Later on, they conspired and eventually attacked The Phoenix Federation using a CB that was apparently six months old. While some believed this to be funny, it lacked the panache and requisite smug of a MK production and was therefore cancelled before major damage could be done.

The latest attempt was to be more subtle in the form of a mocking thread in response to GDA's tech embargo on Gremlins. This brought Londo and company out from under the fungus of the Kingdom and into the light, showing a subtle sarcasm and general mockery that we have come to love so much. Unfortunately this is where the problem lies. It was too good an attempt and if Archon cleaned the smug out of his eyes, he would see the threat that exists. Londo is out to dethrone Archon as sovereign ruler of Mushroom Kingdom! You heard it here first folks! I have not been able to crack into the secret battle plans, but sources tell me it will include mass amounts of smugfaces, nu u's and other fantastic debate mechanisms, along with an attack against Luigi who has recently been spotted in a hot tub with Bowser. I don't know about you ladies and gentlemen but this reporter is terrified.

When asked over a glass of Athens finest wine , Londo came clean stating rather ominously, "I am become Smug, the destroyer of worlds. And I will !@#$@#$ end him."

IO Brennan- oh noez!

PNN Issue 6, Year 6 of our Dear Pacifica.
Junior Correspondent:vZblueblur0

"It has been a long time since this office was used," said janitorial staff of the Imperial Central command.
"Well, it seems someone finally got gold plated eh?" spoke a gruff old Koona, "it's time this office finally saw some light."
Closing the door, he slowly walks away as the name of the room is revealed: Personal Office of the Imperial Officer of Media Affairs.
Someone has finally come to claim this throne.

8:45 AM

Alright, so boss liked the last interview I had so I'm heading off to interview the new IO of Media. Can't wait man, this is gonna be a lot of fun.

9:00AM

Ok, so I was told to wear the same suit from last time, damn budget cuts. Now I don't even get a new suit for this visit. Oh well. I laid out the suit, gathered up my coffee and sat down with the final draft of the questions for our new Imperial Officer. The best part was that I didn't even know who I was going to interview, they left that part out. I really don't think it is funny, but I will have to live with it.

9:35AM

A couple of armed guards from the Imperial Transport Unit arrived at my door. Heh, I thought I'd get there in my own car, but whoa I was really off. I was escorted to the convoy and put into the back of a sleek black Pacifican Town Car.

9:50AM

I was handed a piece of paper with a security code on it; I had to memorize it and then burn the paper. I quickly read the paper multiple times and lit it with my lighter. That code is now imbedded into my brain. I had to remember this to get into the main hall and from there I didn't know where I'd be going.

10:25AM

I slowly stretched out my body, this was a really long car ride. I mean I had texted and called everyone I could. My $@! really hurt now, plus my right leg had those annoying pins and needles. I asked the driver how much longer we had, he told me to relax, "We'll get there when we get there."

12:50PM

I am awoken by the buzz of the intercom, "Zblueblur0 we have arrived at the Imperial Central Command, you have been cleared for entrance." came the monotone voice of the driver. I was brought out of a death like state of boredom, finally I was going to be meeting a new IO.

1:30PM

I was escorted into the main chamber by an armed guard, damn these guys were armed with the latest Anti-Hug and Smug armor and the most powerful ban hammers I have ever laid my eyes on. Plus they had shiny badges which I caught a quick glance of "Imperial Security Task Force" it read in solid black letters, backed by a royal purple badge.

1:45PM

I was asked for the secuity code and I quickly replied with *can not be reveled to the public*. Quickly they led me up a private stair case to the elevator which would take me up the Offices of the Imperial Officers. I was stopped a couple floors below my final destination and a familiar face walked into the elevator. It was Moo-Cows, he had been on lunch break and now was heading back up to his office to get the last bit of paper work done. I chatted quite happily with Moo until it was my time to get off and I bid Moo a good day and quickly walked towards my final destination. I had been placed at the office of the new Officer of News and Propaganda. Hell I wondered, who could it be?

1:55PM

The door quickly opened and out walked "Director" Brennan. I quickly bid him a good day and asked if the IO was ready to see me. He thought for a second and quickly ushered me in. I never noticed that it had stated on the door, Personal Office of Brennan, IO of Media. I quickly looked around and wondered where this mystery IO had vanished to. To my shock awe. I saw Brennan sit down behind the desk and ask me to start this damned Interview. Well I thought, better him then anyone else I would have picked. I got out my tape recorder and started with this damned interview.
Zblueblur0:Ok, lets start with the basics
Zblueblur0:Who are you, and what is your job in the New Pacific Order

Brennan: I am the newly appointed Imperial Officer of News and Propaganda

Zblueblur0: Oh nice, thats really good. Congratulations

Brennan: Thank you very much Zblueblur0.

Zblueblur0: Ok just a little bit of back ground, for the readers who don't know where you popped up from.
Brennan: Yeah, thats a good idea, smart thinking there Z.

Zblueblur0 When where you promoted, and from which rank?

Brennan: I was promoted April 22nd from the Rank of Director of Media by the will of Emperor Cortath

Zblueblur0: Why were you promoted.

[Brennan Cortath said so :P
Brennan: In all seriousness, I worked hard and simply did what needed to be done for the benefit of the Order.

Zblueblur0 Where did you start of in Media?

Brennan As in which jobs?

Zblueblur0 Yeah

Brennan: I've worked in all of them at one point or another
Brennan: I started back in...November of 2008 I believe

Zblueblur0:What brought you into Media?
Zblueblur0 Was it someone something?

Brennan: I joined writing originally, then DJing

Zblueblur0: Who has been your greatest influence in Media
Zblueblur0 or in NPO in general

Brennan: I left for a bit dur to time restraints but I got hooked on Wiki and when it moved into Media I came with it

Zblueblur0: Good thing it was attached to Media eh :P

Brennan Greatest influence in Media would be most of teh older leadership, Hawk, Mask, Venajew I learned a lot from them about a lot of different things.

Zblueblur0 MaskofBlue?
Zblueblur0 good woman

Brennan[NPO] In the NPO it would have to be Brehon and Jesse End two people that I have a lot of respect for in all that they do. Also UN back when he was active, he really set my outlook in Milcom
Brennanand yes MaskofBlue

Zblueblur0 So, what are your plans for the near future?

Brennan Get settled into my new office and to work with all of media to be ready for the next big time in the NPOs history, the release of terms

Zblueblur0 Yup
Zblueblur0 Ok so now, some IO related questions
Zblueblur0 you were already the head of Media
Zblueblur0 how does being an IO change that.

Brennan I will be working from a larger perspective then I did before, but I will still be around a lot guiding the department with Lord Valleo and the division leaders.

Zblueblur0 So, you have now gone down in history, as an Imperial Officor of the New Pacific Order
Zblueblur0 A postion many would kill for
Zblueblur0 How do you feel, personally

Brennan No different then I did before. I worked for the betterment of the Order before and I will continue to do that. The Order and her Body republic is always above all else.

Zblueblur0 What sort of legacy do you wish to have.
Zblueblur0 I mean everyone want to be rememberd for something
Zblueblur0 what is your wish.

Brennan I dont wish for a legacy, I just wish to have some more amazing times with some amazing people.

Zblueblur0 Ok, so for the underlings in Media
Zblueblur0 what do you wish to tell them
Zblueblur0 anything from the heart?

Brennan[NPO] Media was a mess, and it has only been through the hard work of everyone in the department that we are where we are today. Everyone in the department has stepped up when asked and we are a closer unit then ever before. We are not Graphics, Writing, Radio or Wiki. We are the Imperial Office of Media Affairs.

Zblueblur0 Very nice
Zblueblur0 Thanks for the interview Brennan
2:50PM

I slowly got up after the interview was over and bid Brennan and good day. He had work to do, getting situated with the new office and all. I had to wonder, a man that young had worked his way up to the status of Imperial Officer. This sent a good message to all the young members out there: hard work really does pay off. I had a story to write, and now it was my time to make Pacifica proud. We all live on this motto, The Strength to protect our Prosperity and to keep the Peace for ourselves and our future.

Say 'what' one more time.

I have to admit, I only picked this up for the fact it has Samuel L Jackson as a writer. Co-written by Mr Jackson and Eric Calderon, this Comic is actually rather good.
It has a space western feel in tone, and is about a mercenary/smuggler Mulberry who we join as his ship is boarded by Space police. After an altercation which ends up with Mulberry escaping, but his ship badly damaged, he crashes into a sparsely populated moon where a gang war is brewing. Mulberry survives thanks to his fancy armour, and is recovered by some local scavengers, thrusting him into the growing hostilities that are rife in the backwater planet he’s crashed on.
There’s not really much I can say about this comic. Although the premise can be considered generic, I’m warming to the story that is being created and I’m looking forward to the next issue. However, I somehow get the feeling that Samuel L. Jackson isn’t that involved in it, I haven’t read much of his writing or seen any shows he writes for, so how much of this is actually his is debateable. That being said, it’s a solid start, and the art is great. Kind of like with my review on Green Hornet, however, there’s nothing really to set it apart from its peers yet, except for that name on the writer’s credits. We’ll see how it progresses, but for now, Cold Space earns 6.5/10

Quote of the issue:
Ship’s computer: Warning the ship is caught in the gravitational pull of...an unidentified Moon.
Mulberry: Nuts
[Cue Crash]

Turf – Image Comics, Issue 1

Vampires and mobsters and aliens, oh my.

This is yet another comic written by a ‘celebrity’, one who might not be familiar to an American audience, but will be to a British one, and a bit of a controversial one. Jonathan Ross, of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and other things, is a big nerd. A huge nerd. According to the editorial at the end, he has three copies of Amazing Fantasy 15 (the one with spiderman for all you non-comic fans). That alone probably doesn’t qualify him as a writer, but Turf caught my interest when I heard the premise.

Set in prohibition era New York, Turf begins as a tale about mobsters and the struggle for control between rival gangs. Things become more complicated when a group from Eastern Europe move in, one that is very secretive and has a tendency to order barrels of blood instead of liquor. The story starts with the brutal murders of a whole gang of mobsters, in a high story hotel with no witnesses and no way for the killers to escape unnoticed. Yes, this story has vampires in it, but these are your old school vampires, vicious !@#$%^&* who are starting to resent hiding in the shadows and who want to take over New York in a sea of blood. The story focuses on the clash between the head of the vampire family and his brother, the former who wants to keep low, and the other who wants to dominate the humans. Meanwhile, we are introduced to the various mobster bosses, and the corrupt officials and cops who run the city. As the vampires set out to control the city, and the mobsters start to realise they’ve been set up, and alien space ship crash lands near New York, adding more players into the mix.
A plot containing aliens, mobsters and vampires is hardly a recipe for success, but Ross makes it work. Along with some beautiful art which really sets the scene, Turf is an engaging story that grabs your attention. Issue one ends with the set up of multiple confrontations, and you are torn between which person you want to see come out top, as none of them are particularly heroic.
Therefore, I give Turf a decent 8/10
The Spirit of Pacifica cannot be Destroyed

April 20th, 2009, the forces of Karma began a massive bombing campaign over the streets of Francograd in what would come to be known as the Armageddon War. Karma targeted military and civilian alike, the only prerequisite was that the target was a Pacifican. The war would wage for many months before terms of surrender were to be issued and many persons on both sides would never live to see the end. An uninvolved person would later walk the streets and marvel at the destruction; women grieving for their husbands, parents for their sons and daughters and everyone grieving for the loss of the beauty of Francograd. Many a surveyor left with tears in their eyes, a pang of guilt that so many innocent people were harmed.

Using simple logic, one would assume that the Pacifican people would be forever changed by this Armageddon and in a certain way, they would be right. But the result was not what many no doubt had been hoping for; a weakened version, a shell of the Pacific's former glory, a Body Republic left licking wounds and mourning. What resulted can be summed up in the words of so many Pacificans still bloody from battle as they looked into the smoke filled capital... We have work to do.

Up came the shovels as every man woman and child found their strength and began digging out the wreckage. Teams were in place to ensure proper payment of reparations to the victors, every contractor was put to work rebuilding Francograd while medical staff begun rebuilding the broken. Every member of the Imperial Office including the Emperor himself turned to his comrade and offered a hand, a loaf of bread, a shoulder to lean on, whatever was needed. Such is the way of the Pacific. The loudspeakers were brought to life cascading the words of Cortath and Vladimir and the music of Sir Paul. Throughout Francograd the people smiled. They knew that together they would get through this. Within the first few weeks, one could not walk down the streets without hearing laughter, children singing the glory of the Order and countless shouts of "Pacifica Prevails!" The morale that was to be destroyed by the enemy was soaring higher than before Armageddon. The people understood that Pacifica had changed.

Armageddon did not weaken Pacifican resolve, but tempered it in the flames of Hell. It did not crush the spirit of the Order but brought it to new heights. We will never be defeated. As long as there is blood running through our veins, we will be here. When our strength is tested, we will show the constitution to finish the task at hand. As long as we hold true to the ideals of our forefather Francos Spain, we will continue to be a beacon of light for the rest of Planet Bob.

We are Pacifica and we will not be destroyed.

I'm not sure that telling everyone you and IRON are still best friends is necessarily what IRON needs right now. Though it won't surprise anyone, as IRON had been part of the inner circle of Hegemony alliances since GW3, and their only major non-Hegemony connection – Citadel via TOP – always seemed to be dragging TOP into the Hegemony rather than IRON away from it. (Not sure if that's ridiculous enough for you Shan? ;))

I enjoyed the Londo article, though I think it might be a bit subtle for this forum.

You Pacificans can't make up your minds. In the last announcement, I couldn't think for myself and had to have Archon do my thinking for me. Now it's all part of my elaborate secret plot for me to seize power in MK? Lol.

Yeah, it's probably no surprise. Besides, how many folks have been trying to woo them apart? Fact is, if you want to avoid the Order and the Republic getting back together, you've got to give them a better reason than getting bombed flat.

As long as we hold true to the ideals of our forefather Francos Spain, we will continue to be a beacon of light for the rest of Planet Bob.

Well, Bob Janova, it's pretty simple: we're not going to lie to you. Generally speaking, we've got along with IRON for a long time. We've had our ups and downs, but we have a lot of mutual respect for each other. Pacifica isn't going to lie about her friendships or her animosities in order to score political points on the OWF.

Thankfully Emperor Cortath answered Bob Janova before I did. Such eloquent simplicity, which is only fitting sense truth doesn't need to be dressed up, would have been missed with my blunt and abrasive style.
