I'm a lefty, and I have to say there is a lot of adversity towards the left, allow me to demonstrate:

If something is correct it is said to be "right," but something way wrong can be called, "off in left field."

The word sinister comes from the Latin root for "left"

The angel-devil pair said to be your conscious always shows the devil over or on your left shoulder, while the angel is always on your right shoulder.

Ambidextrous, the ability to use either hand for a task, contains the Latin roots for having "all right hands"

You can find everything you want in right-handed models, but you have to look hard to find a left-handed model.

The Arabians consider the left hand unclean because that is the hand you use to wipe your bum on the toilet. To that end they consider it an insult to pass food to the left.

Everyone is taught to shake hands with the right hand.

Any kind of book is oriented to read or write left to right, creating problems for left-handed writers with spiral notebooks.

An uncoordinated person is said to have, "two left feet."

The right side of anything has always been considered to be the center of logic and morality while the left is the center of emotions and self-gratification.

Before the advent of modern society, left-handed children were beat and discriminated against, and often were forced to learn to write with their right hand.

One's "right hand man" is usually one's most trusted friend and adviser.

Lefties are said to die ten years younger that righties on average, but that's probably because of an increase in accidents due to using inappropriate equipment in industrial and private situations.

However, one redeeming quality is that lefties are more likely to make more money, on average, than righties. So maybe it isn't all bad.

Discuss.

Also, where do you get the idea that "lefties" make more money than "righties"? I'd love to see the stats supporting that.

90% of those stats are false, I'm pretty sure. Besides, everyone knows reality has a well defined left bias. ;)

Did you read the one about Arabs? Go back and read. There are also phrases in Yiddish, Gaelic, and German featuring how being on the "left" makes one clumsy or otherwise inappropriate.

Sweet, I'm left-handed.

Why would I dispute colloquial expressions and linguistic traditions?

I believe he's making a funny, considering the dude isn't on the left to begin with.

Arabs consider their left 'dirty' because it's the hand they use to wipe their butts. True story.

I know, being a left-handed person, I've thought about these things before. So basically I agree

Snobby left-handers were always lording it over us righties in my high school.

And by always I mean "about one lunch-time conversation per year."

Traditionally, yes. That's not just Arabs, but most of the Eastern world. Now, they use toilet paper like the western world except the left-hand thing has kind of stuck as symbolic.

The terms "left wing" and "right wing" refer to the seating arrangement in the French National Assembly of the late 1700s.

Your list has nothing to do with politics.

Only slightly, although that wasn't my intent.

I don't see any connection between the politics of left/right and the superstition of left/right.

I believe he was joking, making a play on the words "Left/Right" here.

Though maybe I'm giving him too much credit.

No you're pretty much correct, I'm not here to say anything about politics, just how society seems to have it out for southpaws.

You don't need to tell me dude. I'm reminded every time I try to use a can opener or a pair of scissors.
