Jgoods45 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Share Posted December 23, 2009 A Joint Announcement from Athens and the United Earth Directorate Athens - UED Economic Development and Defense Pact Article 1: Non AggressionAthens and United Earth Directorate (UED) will not attack each other, or work against each others' interests Article 2: Sovereignty Athens and UED will not interfere in one anothers' internal affairs in an unsolicited fashion. Athens will be involved in helping United Earth Directorate get on their feet in the early stages. Article 3: Respect Athens and UED agree to remain respectful towards one another at all times. Article 4: Intelligence Both parties agree to share any and all information with each other that pertains to the safety and stability of one another. Any information passed shall be kept confidential and not shared with any third parties unless explicit permission is given. Article 5: Economic Development The aid slots of UED shall be exclusively reserved for the use of Athens and UED. Outside parties are not permitted to send aid offers to UED without the express permission of Athens. The following economic development program shall be followed: 1) UED shall provide Athens with lists of members who are selling tech. 2) Athens shall do 2 rounds of 6M for 150 tech, 1 day deals with each seller to test reliability. 3) Sellers who are proven reliable will receive 50 day contracts of 3M in, 3M in, 50 tech out, 50 tech out, 50 tech out. 4) For every 4500 tech received by Athens, UED shall receive a bonus of 45 million cash. 5) All tech shipments are guranteed by UED. If a seller is more than 1 day late in sending tech, UED will send a replacement tech packet. Article 6: Optional Defense and Aggression If you mess with either of us, you're messing with both of us. If one of us does something monumentally stupid without discussing it with the other party beforehand, there is no binding obligation to pursue defense, although defense is strongly encouraged. Article 7: Cancellation This treaty may be canceled at any time by either signatory. The canceling party must give a private, 48 hour notice of their intent to cancel and provide a valid reason to why they have chosen to cancel this treaty. This treaty shall remain in effect until the 48 hour period has elapsed at which point, both parties shall enter into a state of non aggression for 24 hours. Is that the intention? This treaty is intended to be a ODoAP. The wording of that clause is a little bit messed up. I didn't write it, Londo did . Athens does not sign MDP level treaties that do not contain a non-chaining clause. The only exception to that rule would be when an alliance is admitted into CnG which is a full chaining MDAP. The Cult having not yet had a chance to fulfill its humanitarian pledges to UED following their last war, and not really feeling like dealing with that, suspends without ill will its offer until such time as UED's aid slots are unreserved. The proceeds from a 3/100 Athenian tech deal are about equal to the amount any single UED member would have received from us. I wish UED all the best as they take an exciting new direction post-KDII, and look forward to working with the new government myself.
