Pocho
Life is full of challenges, and from a very early part of our life we have to overcome them. Some of these challenges are mere anthills, something we step over and then forget. Others are like Mount Everest, cold and unyielding giants that can only be overcome with skill. There comes a time in every young man's life were he faces a monster that could scale Mount Everest easily. Many fall prey to it, but a few overcome it and master the art of alcohol intake. In the days of Revanche's reign, Vanguard woke up after a night of misplaced memories next to not only one Eldar, but a whole Legion of them. The toasts and not-so-subtle flirting that led up to this event might as well be lost to time, but what happened after is still vivid in our memories. Unable to break so many hearts, Vanguard chose a wise but daunting course: escalating the affair. So far, things have gone well. The hope we had when our drunken, spur-of-the-moment fling didn't make us puke as we woke the morning after that fateful night has been fulfilled. Gentlemen, I'm afraid we've gone steady. Preamble As sovereign alliances bound by a common purpose and a commitment to professionalism, Vanguard and The Legions of Eldar have long shared amicable relations. In order to sanctify their shared loyalty, camaraderie and dedication to success, both alliances hereby agree to be bound by the following terms. Article I - Sovereignty Each signatory formally recognises the right of each party to exercise ultimate internal authority, which includes a monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force within its own territory. If one party engages in military or political action against an outside entity, the party does so without implicating the corresponding party, unless otherwise agreed upon through the invocation of this agreement. Article II - Camaraderie Both parties agree to commit to peace, tolerance, respect, trust, and above all, friendship. Misconduct, dishonour and disrespect displayed by one party towards the corresponding party will be discussed through private venues, in a civilized and rational manner, and dealt with accordingly. The parties, sharing common beliefs and values, will endeavour, at all times, to exemplify both honour and etiquette. Article III - Intelligence The parties agree to share all intelligence they obtain that could prove useful to the other party. Furthermore, if either signatory learns of a security breach within, or a credible threat to the other signatory, the acquiring signatory will convey all pertinent information to the other signatory. However, there is one exception: a signatory may choose not to disclose information provided by a third party that wishes the information to remain confidential and holds a treaty with said signatory. Article IV - Peace Article IV, Item A. Both parties renounce all forms of subjugation, oppression, or manipulation that may be used against the countersigned, and pledge to refrain from funding, supporting, or participating in said acts, whether intra-alliance or inter-alliance. Ratification of this document proclaims an everlasting peace between the signatories, but for the activation of Article VII. Article IV, Item B. No member of either signatory may participate in, support, or condone military action against a member of the countersigned. If a signatory constituent violates this Item, the offender will be ordered to offer peace as soon as possible, and pay reparations equivalent to the total damages inflicted. Defending nations are required to refrain from retaliatory attacks while the two governments deal with the situation. Following orders to secure peace, should the attacking nation refuse to offer peace, continue the offensive, or fail to pay appropriate reparations, without credible explanation, the attacking nation will be expelled from its alliance. Further, the expellee shall be dealt with as a rogue nation by all parties. Article IV, Item C. Neither signatory alliance will engage in or endorse espionage or subversion of any form against the countersigned, including forum breaching or in-game spying. Article IV, Item D. Neither signatory will impose or ask others to impose Senate-enforced sanctions against a constituent of the corresponding signatory. Article V – Martial Collaboration Article V, Item A. An attack on one signatory will be interpreted as an attack on both. Subsequently, should either signatory become engaged in a defensive military conflict, both signatories must immediately commit full military, financial and political support towards resolving the conflict and rebuilding after its conclusion. Article V, Item B. As a display of unity, loyalty and camaraderie, discussions to conclude any military conflict involving both signatories due to the invocation of this document will be jointly handled. The signatories will cooperate in striving for a just and equal peace for both parties, no matter the result or nature of the conflict. Article V, Item C. Either signatory may appeal to the countersigned to provide military, financial and/or political support towards a military engagement initiated by the requesting signatory. This document does not oblige a party to fulfill such a request, however it is strongly encouraged. Further, if a signatory will not provide the requested assistance, they must inform the militarily engaged or requesting party of this decision within forty-eight (48) hours of the initial appeal. Article VI - Cancellation Article VI, Item A. Either signatory may terminate this pact at any time and withdraw its status as a signatory; however, the withdrawing alliance must notify the government of the countersigned, through the appropriate private channels, seventy-two (72) hours prior to their desired time of termination. However, should either party breach an article of this document, their signatures on the treaty will be considered void, unless otherwise stated within the treaty or previously agreed upon by both alliances. Article VI, Item B. If an attack is made on either party, during the aforementioned seventy-two (72) hour period, this treaty will remain in effect until seventy-two (72) hours after the conflict concludes. Article VI, Item C. Upon cancellation by either signatory, Article IV of this document will remain active for a period of seven (7) days, beginning after the appropriate seventy-two (72) hour notification period has concluded. Article VII - Amendments Any amendment made to this treaty must first be discussed and agreed upon by the appropriate government officials of each party, and undergo the appropriate processes.
