There should be a date to when your current affiliation was set.

Thus being able to identify if a nation has either recently changed their alliance affiliation.

I like this idea, but personally I would prefer to see an AA history.

I agree with Supreme Ultimo.

These days people change AA so much that its impossible to keep track of it. As alliances we want to weed out ghosts and having a history system will help. Or perhaps an option to view the AA before your Present one.

I suppose you could link this with the new spy system your putting in place.

It would be hard to do, also it will increase server load. Alliances should always keep a complete list of past members and currently approved ones.

Aye. Then those spies who hide under other people's alliance affiliations can be weeded out.

Are you talking about alliance history or the opening suggestion?

Because adding the date you set you alliance affiliance will not be hard to do.

a good suggestion but does admin have the records of the date of when you joined an alliance before if this would be put in or would it start when it would be put in?

Voted yes. Either an indicator saying when the current AA was put in place, or an AA history would be very good ideas. The latter would also provide some nice nostalgia for us who are proud of our former alliances that have now ceased to exist.

Not a bad idea, but it seem's the cons outweigh the pos.

Voted yes. And to those interested in an AA history, you need to realize that the game currently does not keep track of your AA, and that would have to be coded in somehow. Also, everyone's "start date" would begin the day this is implemented.

I'm assuming a few things, but I'm positive that the above is true. Admin didn't have any reason to track AA, and in fact may cause too many database queries in doing so. The time stamp, however, is a very simple and easy to code change I believe.

In short - Great idea.

What cons?

As for the implementation of this, it could could simply timestamp everyones AA the day the system is released.

An AA history would be very nice. 'The other game' does it and it can be very handy when solving timing disputes ('he was None when I hit him!') and researching prospective members' histories.

This sort of comment irritates me. Let Admin decide what is easy and what is hard, it depends on the way it is coded. Frequently people say things are hard which I am fairly sure won't be, and I suspect many of the people that post these things don't have the first clue how web development works. Just post about whether it's a good idea, not whether you think it is implementable, unless you actually know what you're talking about.

I like the AA history- I should show the last 5 AA's the nation has used, no matter how long ago they set it

I was more thinking along the lines of server stress. After thinking about it, it wouldn't really make it any worse as getting some information from the database wouldn't cause stress. So, yeah why not. It would iron out all those pirates etc and save you some trouble.

An alliance date stamp is doable.

It's a no regarding the AA history. An alliance history list would add more size to the database and since only about the 3 most recent alliances could be stored anyone who wants to ghost could still do so just by editing their AA a few times.

I like the idea of a timestamp, only if it isn't placed in the place where the OP put it. Voted yes.
