This will be huge inpact on the game. Currently one resource represents a day worth of that resource (all you can eat type of deal).
What if you change that so that all your resouces gives you a 10% extra of that resoource that you can store away for later use (up to a cap of let's say 20 days).
The point of this is that you can sell your surplus stockpiles to another nation for some extra chash.
It would also mean that if you get cut off from your suplies you will still have a backup storeage for up to 20 days. (There will need to be some changes to senator sanctioning here).
So if your trading partner cancel on you or he gets deleted for inactivity or something like that you will have time to find a replacement resource.

This will open up for nations to be shifting trades often to try to keep stockpiles of all resources. If they manage to pull it off then they will get all the bonuses, if not they may suddenly find themself without the crucial resource when they need it the most. Imagine geting thrown into a war and missing all your military resources and being unable to find someone to trade with right away.
Your nations options would then be to continue to look for a trading partner or to buy that crucial resource from another nations surplus storage. This would probably be expencive since the price will be whatever that nation want to take for it (supply and demand). There will ofcourse be a minimum price that have to be paid by either party to avoid that alliances gives stuff away for free to their own allies. Remember that it does cost to produce, pack and send the resource. But like in the real world the seller can give it away at no cost and pay that expences himself if he wish to, or he can demand absurd amont of money for it. The base price for this resource would probably need to be scaled after how big the nation is.

To create a stockpille faster your nation can import different sources of the same resource, the other surplus resource will then add all the 110% to your storage. One nation can therfore become a specialist seller of one resource, if he only trades with nations that have one resource in comon with himself then he will have 10 sources of the same resource and can sell that resources to other nations as he wish.
This could even open up for a new form of alliances, trade guilds. All member of that guild would have the same resource in comon and would work together to get the best price for it as possible.

There is probably a lot of holes in this suggestion and a lot of things that can be abused, but can I get some feed back on this idea?
