iKrolm
Pacita Arellano stood idly in the private government and diplomatic wing of the Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, waiting for the representatives from Troina to arrive. She wasn't entirely sure why Troina had requested a meeting, but she adopted a welcoming demeanor anyway as the Troinan representative's plane arrived at the terminal and the 12 member Ground Force honor guard came to attention. kitex
Lila-Jean Jackson stepped out of the Boeing 747, she was wearing a white blouse, green jacket and green pants, along with green shoes. She walked over to Pacita Arellano and greeted her with a smile and a handshake. Both of them then went into the waiting limo and onto the Troinan embassy. iKrolm
The Ground Force Captain's bare Kampilan sang through the air as he whipped into a perfect salute as the 11 soldiers behind him snapped assault rifles to their shoulders and saluted Lila-Jean Jackson upon entrance. "Welcome to The Nation of Selenarctos Ms. Jackson, I hope you enjoy your stay. This way the the motorcade." Pacita Arellano said, gesturing. kitex
Lila-Jean followed, taking note of how impressive the soldiers were. She went into the limo first, followed closely behind by Pacita Arellano.
iKrolm
"And here is the Troinan Embassy of Manila." Pacita said as the limousine pulled away from the 2 escort Domestic Force cars and though the open gate. "I'm slightly ashamed to admit I've never been here before, but I've been assured it will meet and hopefully exceed your expectations. I'm sorry to leave you so quickly, but my schedule is rather busy and as I'm sure your aids have told you, your meeting with the Directors of the Economic Division will begin at 10AM tomorrow. I won't be around then, but I hope we have a chance to talk again before you leave the country." She said shaking hands once more before exiting the limousine and entering a black town car which pulled up from behind the embassy building. iKrolm
Francis Mumar and Antonio Pilar entered the Troinan Embassy's Conference room at 9:30 and 9:35 respectively, accompanied by three aids, and took their seats reviewing news from Troina. At 9:45, an embassy staff member informed Jackson that the meeting would begin shortly and upon her arrival, both Directors stood and shook hands warmly. "Welcome to Selenarctos Miss Jackson, I hope you've enjoyed your stay so far," Pilar said with a smile. "Likewise, and hopefully the humidity hasn't bothered you much," Mumar replied as he shook Jackon's hand. As they completed the introductions and took their seats, Pilar commented "I was sorry to hear of the attack that killed 103 of your soldiers. If we had any knowledge of who was behind the pretend-Promise Land soldiers, believe us, you would already have it."
kitex
"I thank you for your condolences," she said, blinking away tears as she remembered that her brother, Cpl. Jason Jackson was killed. She then shook her head slightly to rid herself of the memory and went back to work. "OK. Let's start. The main thing I'd like to do today is make sure we leave here with a signed economic treaty. How do you feel about that?"
iKrolm
"To get right down to business, first and foremost Selenarctos is a major exporter of manufactured goods, electronics and fruits, our coal reserves providing an advantage for former and our tropical location for latter. As such, we are always looking for new markets to expand into. Second, and also because of our geographic location, there are certain resources we don't have natural access to: iron, aluminum, a wide variety of minerals, grains and fuels, some of which are produced within Troina. Third, both of our countries sit on waterways: Selenarctos on the primary shipping routes from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and Troina located in the Atlantic Ocean. "As such, here are 3 goals we would like discuss during the course of this meeting: 1. Mutual reduction of protective tariffs or their elimination altogether. 2. Reduction or elimination of fees on ships passing through waterways. 3. Establishment of bases of operations for companies in the other's nation and the taxation of those corporations. "If we can address all of these to a mutually satisfactory degree, I would like to consider this meeting a success." Pilar paused to signal an aid, who passed out 2-page papers to everyone seated at the table. "Here's a short summary of current economic interaction between our two countries and a short list of Selenarctan companies that would be interested to expand into Troina. Feel free to look them over at your convenience, or not," he added with a grin, "the department aids who prepared them will never know the difference. Now then, perhaps you could elaborate on Troina's goals for economic relations between our countries."
kitex
"Our goals are to 1. Expand major Troinan companies in Selenarctos 2. Have access to certain fruits, vegetables, and meats that our biofarm industry cannot grow 3. Safety of water ways Also we'd like to discuss Troina's new port policy." iKrolm
"Excellent, I'm glad to see our goals are so similar. We are more than willing to allow Troinan corporations into Selenarctos and to tax them equally with our own, however be warned that the major corporations of Selenarctos are large and very well rooted in. "As for agricultural goods, we can provide as much fruit produce you can purchase and shipping it shouldn't cause too much trouble once COSICO starts operating in Troina, our selection of vegetables is a little more limited though should be adequate, but unfortunately we import a large portion of our meat products as it is and can not afford to export more. "In addition to COSICO, Ersch Electronics, Inc. is very interested in the possibility of manufacturing plants and data servers within Troina to replace expensive air conditioned facilities with ones cooled by the antarctic air and Filipino Steel is always looking to flood emerging economies with cheap steel. "As for security with in Selenarctan waters, the Domestic and Sea Forces are on constant patrol for potential threats and should you be shipping a particularly valuable load, we can dispatch an UAV at cost to keep an eye on the ship." "Finally, and unfortunately, we were not briefed on Troinan's new port policy before this meeting. Perhaps you could elaborate?, and we'll do our best to accommodate it however possible." kitex
Lila-Jean began rather somberly "Well, due to the 103 Massacre that occured, we will be sending armed military personnel to search all ships that come into Troina before they are allowed to dock."
iKrolm
"This shouldn't pose too much of a problem for small to medium sized freighters, but you may receive some complaints from shipping companies owning large or super freighters as the time needed to search one of these will take significant time. In any case, this will have to be acceptable to begin with and in the future, perhaps a system of registering and communicating the locations of ships bound for Troina could be used to move Selenarctan ships through the inspection process faster."
kitex
"That'd be great. Also about the large or super freighters, we'd have an adequate amount of soldiers search them, as to take no longer than 10-15 minutes. But now onto the treaty. What natural resources does Selenarctos have?"

kitex
"Ah, sorry, I forgot. Well, currently Troina is producing lead, sugar, and electronics. Also if you want 100% pure water, we'll gladly trade," Lila-Jean said jokingly. "But ok. Here what I propose: Article I:Both Selenarctos and the Republic of Troina agree to solve any disputes via dialogue, and not resort to any form of aggressive conflict. Article II: Both nations agree to loosen tariffs between them and agree to promote free trade, whenever and wherever possible. Article III: If any signatory of this treaty deems it prudent to cancel their signature, 24 hours notice must be given. What do you think?" iKrolm
"While it appears acceptable to me, I'm sure certain department staff would say otherwise. I propose we adjourn for today and I'll pass this onto the other Directors for modification and approval, signatures tomorrow. Oh, and if you're still awake at, say 10:05PM tonight, may I suggest you take a moment to watch the moon? I've been told it will be quite impressive." iKrolm
Antonio Pilar greeted Lila-Jean Jackson as she returned the next day. "Unfortunately, Francis Mumar is unable to join us, but he's already expressed his support for the draft our Division came up with," he said shaking hands once again. As they took their seats, an aid passed around the draft.
