Written by Brendan White Bohemians travel to Tallaght this Friday for a top-of-the-table clash with rivals Shamrock Rovers which could go a long way to deciding who will claim the Premier Division title.
Bohs displaced Rovers from the top on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory away to Derry City after Rovers had temporarily gone to No. 1 with a 2-1 win over Sligo at the weekend.
Bohs manager Pat Fenlon said he was "delighted" with the win in the Brandywell, which came through a first league goal from young striker Paddy Madden. "It was a big three points," said Fenlon.
A Rovers win on Friday would leave a two-point gap in their favour but a win for Bohs would leave them four points clear at the top with just six games remaining.
This will be Bohs' third away match in less than a week. But, after a period during which the squad was affected by injuries, Fenlon has no injury concerns ahead of the game. He will, however, miss three midfield players through suspension. Gary Deegan, Anto Murphy and Killian Brennan will all sit out the game.
Fenlon is under no illusion about the task on Friday night, but feels there is still a long way to go. "It's a big game, but there's still plenty of football to play afterwards. Rovers is always a big match, and it's even bigger now that both of us are at the top of the league."
There is nothing between the teams this season with one win each and a draw against each other. Bohs defeated Rovers 2-0 in Dalymount before losing 2-1 in Tallaght to two late Gary Twigg goals. In their last encounter, in July, the teams drew 0-0 in Dalymount.
