It would be really easy to say the redskins lost to a team that hasnt won in 19 tries. Yet, out of the 53 players to suit up for the skins game, only 21 played for the Lions last year. Completely new coaching staff. New GM. New logo. This was not the team that went 0-16 last year. The Lions are a decent team this year, and can win 3-4 games.

But the lions finally won and Jim Zorn needs to be fired. Jason Campbell had a great game with no running attack at all, so he should stay. The redskins need a new running back and Bill Cowher.

edit: the title should read *a game*

Lucky. They have maybe the best rookie QB out there. Mathew Stafford is going to make a big difference for the Lions. They are going to obtain some special talent in the years to follow. The Redskins do look terrible needless to say.

It's because the awesomeness that is Matthew Stafford went there.

Unfortunately, this involved him leaving Georgia :(

Now to ask who picked the Lions to win today.

/me did.

But yeah, Zorn is on a really thin leash. I don't see him being fired because 3 weeks seems to be so soon, but unless something changes and quick, he is going to lose his job sometime this year.

Good for the Lions, when they went winless last year people were viewing as some bizarre milestone. Just kind of made me sad for Detroit.

As for Zorn, it's always a big gamble when you promote a guy who has no head coaching experience, let alone someone who doesn't even have coordinator experience. Hopefully he can head back to college and build up a coaching resume there. He knows football, just needs some fine tuning at a smaller level.

I hate USC and hated Sanchez when he was there. But, there's no way Stafford is the best rookie QB. In fact I don't see an amazing career in the future for him. Sanchez is by far the best rookie QB and is looking like he has a magic touch.

Don't let this fool you people, Detroit still sucks.
Washington just sucks even more right now. Nice use of money Mr. Snyder!

As an Eagle fan, I love this.

They don't suck as much as you think. They looked good in the first half against the vikings last week, and in week 1, although they lost by 20 or so points, they still scored 27 against the Saints. Fun fact, the Lions are the team with the most points against the saints so far this year. :P

Are they going to be a playoff contender this year or next? No. But getting rid of Millen, and with some of the parts they have currently (Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Matt Stafford), they are a team that may look good in the future if somehow it doesn't get f'd up.

At least Cleveland is a viable option for going 0-16

The Redskins need to fire Zorn. He wasn't ready to be a head coach. Portis is a decent RB, but he and Zorn hate each other, so he barely gets carries / doesn't try when he does. Betts plays RB every 3rd down.... and he sucks.

Jason Campbell is the most boring QB in the league. If you never take risks, you never get rewards. Being afraid to throw anything more than past 5 yards isn't going to win a lot of games. You'll have a high completion percentage for 125 yards passing and 0-1 TDs. Way to go.

Also, Dan Synder is a moron. Wants to win as an owner.... but doesn't know how. Over paying year after year after year for old players on the decline or 1 great player kills this team. They never sign any role players and draft poorly. The old players then lose it (or have already lost it) and the good new players have NO support around them (see: Albert Haynesworth).

I don't know how much you think I think they suck, but I don't think the lions are the worst team in the NFL anymore. They're better than the Browns, Bucs, Chiefs, Rams and maybe even the Raiders.

So they aren't the disaster-class of the NFL anymore. But yeah, they are probably 3 years away, if the positive upswing continues, from being a legitimate playoff threat. Especially considering their division. The Bears and Packers will only get better with their young QBs and the Vikings will always be good as long as AP is there.

This is the NFL we are talking about. They will get f'd up before they get good.

They scored 14 of those 27 points on mistakes by the Saints, not because of anything they did. :P

The Lions are a team that had nowhere to go but up. After last season, and their dismal playing, there really wasn't any way for them to be worse.

This year, they have a completely revamped team, showed signs of life in the first 2 weeks, and were lucky enough to play a team has been borderline good the last few seasons, but has now taken a drastic turn for the worst.

They have a fair chance to realistically win 3 more games: St. Louis, Seattle, and Cleveland. Obviously they have a chance to win a few more, but I consider it doubtful.

However, as mentioned, given the quality of their division, I think it will be a while before the Lions really start to put things together and have a winning season.

I'd rather see Cleveland go blank tbh. Mangini and Quinn, let them fail miserably.
