Philippine Constitution is suspended, government officially becomes totalitarian. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is declared as Supreme Leader.

January 13-20, 2011
Military becomes dissatisfied with the government and launches a coup. Since the Government relied on the military to project their power, the coup was successful and the Government collapses. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is detained, charged with crimes against the Filipino people and executed. Order and stability is lost.

February 1, 2011
The military takes over the Philippine islands, the nation's official name is changed to Imperial Philippine Empire. Commander Carlos Santos becomes Supreme Leader. Peace, order and stability is restored. The new Government promises to be more benevolent.

A limousine escorted by four police motorcycles would pull up in front of the NZTO representative. A man wearing a military uniform came out of the limo, offering his hand to the representative.

The ride to the PICC had been largely uneventful. The limo arrived in front of the Centre after half an hour of driving. NZTO's representative and Juan Fernandez were escorted into one of the PICC's meeting rooms.

Juan thought about Jacob's statement for a while, before saying, "We would be interested in having economic relations with NZTO, but I doubt that we would be able to help you in annexing New Zealand's South Island."

"Hmm, what problems might you have with helping us? We have thousands of ships, any vehicles, troops, airplanes could easily be transported in a few days, with no charge on your nation might I add. And if in the future if you are ever threatened you have the might of the NZTO on your side. Unless you wish to remain neutral in the conflict, which is ok of course, but we are not seeking purely economic treaties at this time."

It was a hard decision. On one hand, they could gain the support of NZTO and demonstrate their military power, but on another hand they could make a lot of enemies and/or get destroyed.

"Tell me, sir, what's in it for both of us if we somehow managed to annex South Island?"
