[ The Asiatic Unity Pact ]

Founding Document - Charter of the AUP - Treaty of Urajiosutoku

AUP Charter - The Treaty of Urajiosutoku

Preamble:

The purpose of the Asiatic Unity Pact is to promote friendship and understanding among Asian nations, as well as establish unity. While we do view war as an option, we view it only as an option when diplomacy has failed, or when fellow continental allies are under perceived threat from outside sources. We also believe that our economies should join hand and hand, for prosperity. We view sovereingty and freedom as the given right of all Asian nations, and view that this is important to any nation's culture.

Article I: Friendship

No signatory shall take military action or engage in active espionage against the others; similarly, no financial or military aid may be rendered by any signatory to any party committing hostile action against the others.

Article II: Defense

Signatories agree to defend one another should an undersigned nation be attacked, so long as they could effectively deter the enemy. In this situation 'effective' will be deemed as the combined power of all allied forces being at least half the military strength of the attacking alliance. If the signatories cannot effectively enter the conflict then they are required to help rebuild their attacked friend, and to make diplomatic efforts to restore peace. In the event a signatory chooses to initiate conflict, for whatever reason, the other signatory is provided a legal right to assist in whatever form of action they deem necessary. Such assistance is not automatically granted and does not in any way affect the standing of the treaty. We view that offense is sometimes required in order for the betterment of the continent, or the eradication of a threat to this organization, or our nation's stabilities. Thus, offensive action is hereby deemed optional.

Article III: Intelligence

Recognizing that information can be the most potent of weapons, both nations shall coordinate all efforts in gathering, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence about both the greater world around them and potential breaches of security within their own ranks. All information learned through this combined effort shall be shared between the leaders and, if mutual security permits, other allied nations.

Article IV: Aid

Both nations are strongly encouraged and are expected to provide aid, based upon need and the best potential for development, between one another. The governments of the signatory nations are expected to promote this kind of cooperation and encourage their economies, both local and international, to get involved in it.

Article V: Free Trade

In order to promote the co-operation of each signatories economy, and to ensure maximum prosperity for all undersigned nations, we hereby state that tariffs on trades among signatories shall be abolished. Trade restrictions are also hereby to be lifted, in order to promote friendship and long-lasting relationships.

Article VI: Ejection/Leaving

In the event of serious breaches of this treaty, a vote can take place. A 51/49 ruling must be set in stone before a signatory nation can be ejected from the AUP. AUP members may also leave if they feel the organization no longer benefits their nation, or serves its interests. However, upon either condition, the leaving nation must give 24 hour notice, and the ejected nation will have a 24-hour grace period, under which the treaty will reply for 24 hours after ejection, and then no longer apply to said nation.

Conclusion:

Looking to the future together, the leadership of the below signatories affirm their friendship and do hereby sign this document.

Enacted on the 29th day of August, 2009, witnessed and signed by the following members of the undersigned governments:

With this announcement, and the signing of this treaty, the Asiatic Unity Pact is hereby existant. Our founding principles are unity, sovereingty and freedom. All Asian Nations are welcome to apply to join our ranks for defense, and economic benefit. This treaty functions as a MDoAP, as well as the founding document of this organization. Other states may request to observe votes, and debates currently ongoing within the AUP, but may not vote in ongoing votes. Each nation is granted one representative within the AUP, and each representative has 1 vote. No one has more power than the other, size and influence does not matter. Freedom, Sovereignty, Unity! All for Asia!

"Zargathia is pleased to see the results of long negotiations finally being made available to the public. A higher level of cooperation between nations leads to a more secure continent, and we are proud to be a member of this pact."

"PRC Wonders why this is called an Asiatic Unity Pact when only 3 Asian nations signed it without even talking it out with other Asiatic Nations. Nonetheless, PRC shall never join any pact stating Free Trade apart from the Dragon Empire treaty."

We resent that comment.

"You shouldn't it's the truth. Those who are in the DE, and the Dragon Bloc are represented to the world by the Government of the Dragon empire which is given the power to negotiate on their behalf (much as a province, or city is represented by a central government). The PRC seemed to be implying that they were some how above the bloc in question, and I was simply pointing out the reality of their situation. If nations belonging to another similarly structured bloc or merger had said the same thing I would have responded similarly." - Allison Loraine

An impartial truth. We are all bound to our brother's will per say. The Majority Rules. We collectively decided this pact was to constraining of our own strength given the environmental mandates and decided against signing. If we are to respect the AU, they must respect us and our members. That road is a two way conversation.. not a one lane passage.

While we understand the Lu Empire's stance on the comments made by our friends in Athens, some of the things stated are true.

The Dragon Empire is a merger, while this is an Economic/MDoAP Bloc. It's clearly stated in the DE Charter that joining means you forfeit your sovereignty.

Again a partial truth. Those who give up federal sovereignty over a national government obtain state sovereignty and representation. Is it not the same in any other representative body? We're beginning to chafe under the slander of our brothers in the AU.. and we encourage that slander to stop.. now. We within the Empire know how our sovereignty is structured we all execute our rights to our voices every day via the Legislature.

From where comes your right to question the internal workings of our state which has been so extremely successful?

It must be understood that the City of Athens is not directly a member of the AUP, and thus his comments and as you call them "slander" are not the opinions of the AUP bloc as a whole, or any of our individual states. We respect the Dragon Empire, in every right, but we do request the same respect back as independent, and sovereign states. As for the second comment, that was the Haruhiist's Empires own interpretation of the charter, as we did not bother to read it in-depth. Doing such, or reading extensive books or elsewise, bores Haruhi.

"Okay, that reasoning is amusing enough in and of itself.. and understandable enough.. to give me a chuckle and let me forget what little disturbance it caused me." He noted while as he noted.. half-chuckling.

"The Comments made by our Archduke were never intended to be slander. They were simply responding to the comment made by one of the DE members. She stated that the PRC wouldn't sign because they were not free to do so. This reality is true, and you have stated so, as joining in a foreign treaty requires the approval of the majority of DE or Dragon bloc members. While that is certainly not disagreeable, or a horrible fate as all but a few of us live under laws be them imposed by autocrats or by our fellow citizens it is certainly not the state that a sovereign or free nation exists in. The PRC has voluntarily chosen their state of existence as have you and any other member of the DE, and he should thus respect those of other nations and not disparage them for choosing different paths than his own. Her response was simply a reciprocal one to the perceived hostility of the PRC. In either case she doesn't speak for the AU." - Ryn Atrevier

"We stated that we wouldn't join it because of the Free Trade Clause. We never stated it was because we can't. In reality to my knowledge we can sign whatever treaties we wish. The Empire cannot stop that as a state can have its own treaties, but it wont be binding to the Empire as a whole since it is a treaty with just us. But we stated that we didn't not want to join this bloc because of the free trade clause, as we did in the earlier Asian Economic Zone treaty put forth by Buryatia because of the Free Trade article."
