From the President of the Vaule Socialist Republic (VSR),

This message serves to inform the government of Crimea Iso of our intention to cancel the Mutual Defense Pact (MDP) between our nations. Our foreign policy has now shifted in a way that is now incompatible with this treaty. As is customary, we will wait for the 48 hour cancellation period to expire before completely ending the treaty.

We hope that we will be able to continue working with Crimea Iso in the future in areas of mutual concern.

The message is delivered directly to the Crimean government and is copied to the Crimean Embassy in Vaule and the Vaule Embassy in Crimea. After an hour the message is also sent to the international press.

At night two divisions of the Vaule Ground Forces (20,000) soldiers move into the Tyranar Unincorporated Autonomous Region (TUAR) in periodic convoys of APCs. A small convoy of T-90 tanks is moved to the outskirts of the Tyranar border.

"It is clear they have intent to attack," 5-Star General Derek Bell spoke clearly to Empress Carbon and her staff, "'Our foreign policy has now shifted in a way that is now incompatible with this treaty?!' What kind of bullcrap is that? Obviously their new 'foreign policy' includes attacking a long time ally."

"And what is it you propose to do, General?" asked Empress Carbon.

"Rally the troops, ma'am. Prepare for war!"

Armored and artillery divisions (numbering about 7,500 troops) head south into the Tyranian Province of Crimea Iso. The airforces are also put on high alert.
