Joe watched the news in silence. Ever since their attempt to capture an IndoChinese representative had failed, they had been forced underground, now, finally, they had a chance to finally get their message across.

They were not monsters, they felt for the people of The Hansa, but Brisbane was their land, and having the Finns in possesion of their land was unacceptable.

Sarah Tintagyl would be visiting New Cymru later in the month, making a public address. They would eliminate her, and reclaim Brisbane, and the rest of the north, for it's rightful owners.

They were out of practice however, as training was difficult where they were. He hoped the lack of experience would not affect the mission, but he had no way of knowing either way, and no way to change it. They would spend all the time they had planning.

Somewhere in New Cymru

The Wolf noticed that some of his new intell detected some disturbing news. Sarah Tintagyl would be coming to this nation, and some of the black currents seemed to be after her.

He made sure his rifle was cleaned. It will be a long day for him.

OOC: After the White Cross Meeting...

IC: Sarah yawned as she slid her head back against the leather of the limousine that had been driving smoothly from Brisbane to New Castle. Since the Hanseatic population had moved into the east of Australia, there had been a silent tension between the Finnish foreigners and the Australian natives and she wanted to end the tension before it could escalate into full on fighting. About a month ago, Brian Ellis, the new High Minister of New Cyrmu had requested that Sarah come to Newcastle and give a speech outlining her plans for the Australian Hansa and most importantly to respond to the recent tension that was building.

She had spent the last night in front of a computer screen trying to come up with a speech to address the audience, but she hadn't come up with anything that would truly state why or how the Hansa planned to integrate into Australian culture besides what she had already tried to do. Foreign aid was a priority, as well with mixing the two cultures together. Sarah knew that she was a popular leader, not only in the Hansa but around the world, but she only do so much to produce Hanseatic stability and peace between the two neighbors and the rest of Australia. Sighed she gripped the speech tight as she closed her eyes, but for what she wanted to turn to a three hour nap, she was woken up five minutes later. They had arrived.

Stepping out of the limousine in front of Newcastle City hall she was to meet the High Minister before beginning her speech. He could explain the situation and what was going on better than in the letter he had sent. Not to get her thoughts wrong Sarah was always excited to meet with citizens of any country, it was her firm believe that the people were more important than the government, but she only hoped that she was as accepted in New Cyrmu as she was in other countries she had visited.

Walking up, flanked by a small guard of marines she waited to be introduced to the High Minister.

Brian Ellis had only recently arrived back himself. Only five years older than Sarah, he was the youngest person to take office in his nations short history. He had a lot to prove. He wasn't much to look at, either. His diminutive stature and thin frame made him look particularly weak, esspecially to his political enemies, but his friends new him as a fox. A brilliant tactical and strategic thinker, and brave enough to hedge his bets on a gut feeling.

He greeted Sarah warmly, shaking her hand firmly, and kissing her on the cheek, all the while hoping she would not be offended by the action.

"Welcome to Newcastle, Prime Minister. First, let me tell you how inspirational you were to my own campaign, and how honoured I am that you came here to speak."

Sarah blushed as the young politician kissed her. "A gentlemen Mr. Ellis, that was very sweet of you. But as to your campaign, I was in formed that you won, but a near landslide victory and if I contributed to that in anyway, I am extremely thankful." She smiled. "After all, I think it is only right for the young to run the world these days. These old men follow their old ideologies too much without talk of change, but we have the ability to change the world Mr. Ellis and I'm glad to count you as one of my friends."

She looked at the speech in her hand and laughed. "Normally I come much better prepared than this, but its been a long month. But please if you would be so kind as to brief me in exactly what we want to accomplish here today. I was under the impression that this was to ease the tension that has been building and I wrote my speech primarily for that reason, but if there are other things that we need to accomplish I can easily edit in my head. I've been gifted with a way with words." Walking next to him she took his hand in her hers. "You have a beautiful city here and I hope that I can build Brisbane and the surrounding area into the same creation and that we have many years of friendship again Brian." Pausing for a moment Sarah chuckled again. "Also, where will the crowd be gathering by the way?"

"Well, Sarah, you are right about one thing, certain parts of our society are less than happy about your people's occupation of what they consider to be 'their' land. They are no doubt a minority, but anything to ease the tension helps. As for the location, I feel that the local stadium would be ideal for such an address. The security has already been arranged." He gestured to the shadows behind him. "I believe you know Colonel Raglan? He will be in charge of the security detail, and will be right next to you the entire time. To be frank, Sarah, we fully expect them to make a move. Which is why we have our best people on this."

Raglan stepped forward, already dressed in black combat fatigues.

"Don't worry Ma'am, everything will be fine, you'll even be wearing a bulletproof vest. The stadium is a more traditional kind, rather than an ultramodern cake tin, so the everyone will be in close, which means small weapons. If they are close enough to hit you, they are close enough for me to hit them."

The Nationalist threat that Raglan had talked about in Helsinki months ago had almost escaped her mind and now she felt a little concerned if not fearful of what Ellis and Raglan were saying to her. As he handed her the vest she almost drew back a little bit. "So they'll be aiming for me?" She sighed and looked down at her feet, she hadn't been planning to be in the middle of plan to destroy the nationalists, but in a way that was the reason he was coming to begin with.

"Well I can't say I agree with this, especially with danger so close, but...I'll do it. These people probably already expect me to arrive and to give this speech and if I were to retreat from this opportunity then our adversaries would have won this conflict and the Hansa's survival in Australia depends on the peace between Finns and Australians." She took a deep breath and smiled at Ellis and Raglan. "Well, lead the way and we'll get this show on the road." As the entourage began to walk Sarah took Raglan by the shoulder and turned him with her sapphire eyes flashing in his. "Please don't let anything happen to me, I've trusted you in the past with my life and you've never failed me before."

Raglan was not surprised by what she said. It was to be expected, she was, after all, knowingly putting her life on the line, just as much as he was his. "Don't worry ma'am, if they want to get to you, they will have to go through me first, and boy, they don't want to try going through me." His bravado was feigned, he was very uncomfortable with this assignment, however, he kept the confident smile on his face all the way to the transport, where he left Sarah and the High Minister, and went forwards to the security vehicle, leaving the two leaders at the armoured limosine.

As the limousine took off towards the stadium Sarah ran over her speech in her head, but the thought of the nationalists seemed to penetrate all of her other thoughts and as they blazed down the highway the great stadium opened up in front of them. Crowds of people had come from across New Cymru to come to watch Sarah's speech and she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous for the crowd itself. There was also a side of nationalists on one side of the isle leading into the stadium with signs painted telling the foreigners to leave. Signs of, "THIS IS NEW CYMRU! NOT FINLAND!" and "WASTELAND LEADER!" blazed on one side while on the other side, men and women through roses down at Sarah's feet as she walked along with Brian.

She walked with her head faced towards the ground, trying to avoid the glaring scares from the nationalists. "I hope that this does improve our standings with them Brian, I really do." But picking up a rose from the ground and giving it to one of the children standing on the edge, she handed it back to the child with a kiss on the head. Continuing on down the isle with Brian, Sarah entered into the stadium proper and under the gaze of a massive crowd of people. This was it, she took a deep breath as Brian prepared to introduce her to the population.

On stage

The Wolf was already among the security detail, having a very well-forged card with him. It was a good thing that his friends in Promised Land had gone through the trouble to get him into this position. He had with him a FN Five-seven, a M-26 Taser, and a tonfa, all standard issues. He did, however, have a few of his own weapons, to be used just in case things goes out of control.

He certainly didn't want things to happen to Sarah Tintagyl, for she was necessary for world peace. In this war-crazed world, full of hatred, there needs to be at least one ray of sunshine, and that was in the form of a strong-willed woman, ready to face evil.

Joe was already in the crowd, his compact pistol buried in the many folds of clothing, he beat his way towards the stage, even as Ellis, that socialist moron was introducing the foreign !@#$%. before the introduction was over, he was standing there, looking up at the stage, and it's occupants. Brian Ellis, Sarah Tintagyl, Colonel Raglan, the head of security, who he actually had a reasonable dossier on, and an asian security guard. Another target perhaps. He would wait for his moment, but he knew that Raglan would react quickly. Hopefully, the rest of his team could take out the snipers before he had to make his move. The signal for which would be two clicks on the radio, which he would hear in his earpiece.

He was prepared.

Raglan was also prepared. He was scoping out the faces in the crowd, and as he came to rest on Joe, he noticed the rather overdressed man, and made a note of the peculiarities. He would keep a special eye on him.

Walking up to the stage Sarah was greeted with a thunderous applause from the stands. Stepping up the podium she wanted silently for the crowd to calm down, smiling the whole time and waving her hands. Indeed the were welcoming her and the longer the applause continued the less she felt concerned about the talk about assassination and more about the problem of tension at hand. Gripping her hands on the stand she cleared her throat and began.

"Ladies and gentlemen of New Cyrmu, neighbors, citizens, friends. I come to you not as a leader of any sort but as a young girl of twenty-seven to ask your permission of a request. In the past few months we have seen the world go through a transition that will be remembered in history as close to the ends of time. During this period, my people, the Hanseatic Republic fought along side Gebiv in the attempt to limit Franco-German imperialism and to our horror were destroyed by nuclear explosions in Helsinki that forced our people out of Europe. It was the kindness in the hearts of the New Cyrmeag that gave my people and I the ability to recover and to once again thrive in Australia and for that we owe everything to you.

However I did not just to thank for our survival but to talk to you about rise in tensions between the Finnish Immigrants and New Cyrmeag Nationalist who look at this land give away as an excuse to begin talks off terrorism and rising tensions between our peoples. I want to be able to address these men and women as well, the men and women outside of the stadium and inside that oppose the loss of Brisbane to us. Ladies and Gentlemen I assure you that I and we do not come as robbers or thieves of your nation, we only desire a home and one that you have so graciously given us. In the past months, the Hansa has made great strides to improve the quality of life of its people in adjusting to the new environment and the new world around us, but for us to ignore our greatest ally and greatest neighbor would be a sin unto God himself. In the following years, I pray that our peoples will continue to bond and our achievements and advancements will be shared by all. Both countries continue to make advancements in culture, environmental technology, and world peace and one day we will live in a world where tension will not exist and men and women will get along as neighbors, brothers and sisters of humanity. But I ask this of you, if we cannot begin here, where? Ending ethnic tension is by far my most important goal and I will not rest until these tensions are forgotten. I promise my people are up for the challenge and I know that you citizens are up for it as well. Please let us show the world the bonds that can be made through the fires of nuclear war!"

Sarah smiled to the crowd as a thunderous applause rained down and lifted her hands to wave and soak in the success that one day, this tension in Australia would end and maybe would be the focal point to begin the dissolving of ethnic tension around the world.

As Sarah finished neared the end of her speech, Joe slipped his hand inside his jacket, clicking the safety off the weapon and placing his hand on the grip. He heard two consecutive clicks on the radio, that was his signal, and he took it to be the truth, how wrong he was.As the crowd cheered, he whipped the pistol out of his jacket, aimed with the split second he had, and fired three shots.

Raglan saw the movement and reacted before he even fully recognised what it was. As if on autopilot, he turned to his right and threw himself over Sarah, wrapping her in a bear hug, and making sure she was fully covered from gun fire. He, however, was not so lucky. The first round hit his vest, knocking the wind out of him, the second shattered his upper arm, and the third drew a neat line across his neck.
He fell to the ground in excruciating pain, but comforted in the knowledge he had succeeded.

Joe dropped the pistol and fled into the panicking crowd, in the distance he heard the distinctive crack of a high powered rifle, and knew instantly that the rest of the team had failed. He stripped off his jacket, and disappeared into the mob of people.

The Wolf immediately jumped from the stage into the swarming crowd, following the shooter with his eyes. Even within the chaos that was happening around him, he was able to pick up the scent of the !@#$%^& that tried to kill Tintagyl, for one does not survive in jungle warfare for over 30 years without obtaining the sense of tracking.

There was only one question left: Gun, taser, baton, or knives?

OOC: Sil, you choose.

Everything happened so quickly. A man in the crowd had flash a pistol and by the time that Sarah heard the sounds of the shots, Raglan was already on top of her. She screamed as the couple collapsed down to the floor and could feel the bullets hitting against Raglan's body. Screaming the entire way, she hit the ground and her head bounce and the world seemed to stop. Security rushed around and the Colonel screamed in pain over top of her face. His neck was beginning to bleed from the bullet while his arm hung limb over her chest. Slowly as the world became back into focus she gently laid her hands across his face as she smiled and kissed his forehead. "Gareth, thank you, everything will be okay."

Underneath the stage, the crowd began to flee in terror at the attempted assassination. No one knew if the Colonel was alive or dead or if Sarah had remained uninjured, but in the chaos it would be extremely hard to find the shooter. But Raglan's men were trusted and he would be caught and punished.

OOC: I think Raglan's name was Gareth Sil, but I'll edit if I got it wrong.

The Lilian Guard, the Keeper's Service, and several uniformed soldiers of the Camburic Household Guard immediately escorted the Lady from the premises...and loaded for bear. Anyone who thought they could get to the woman who had saved the Marchar race from extinction would be awoken to the deadly skill of the Camburians...right before being put down.

Keeper De Luit: "My lady, we must get you away. We've got the entire House Hold Guard ready to launch against any target within the territory, and we'll try to get out anyone you want from harms way, but we need to go, NOW!"

"GODDAMNIT," Raglan screamed. Then, into the microphone on his collar, "get a chopper down here, now!" He hauled himself up from the wooden floor, grasping his shattered limb. "Perimiter, what's the situation?" He listened for a moment, then replied. "That is an affirmative, I'm going after him," another pause, then, "bulky brown jacket, dark canvas work pants, faded red t-shirt. Roger." He lent his arm to Sarah, hauling her to her feet. "Let's go ma'am, we've got a criminal to catch."

The black chopper descended into the pit, hovering next to the fragile stage. Raglan hopped aboard, dragging the Prime Minister with him. He put a headset on, and started issuing orders to the pilot, before handing a set to Sarah. The helicopter rose, and headed south.

Joe saw it fly overhead. He could feel someone chasing him, as rediculous as that sounded. However, he was away into the streets, the old part of town, long since abandoned. Maybe he could lose them in the warren.

Then, he felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder. As he reached up to put pressure on it, he felt somethnig sticking out of it. He yanked it out, and was surprised to see a six inch blade, covered in blood. He turned around, and could clearly identify the asian guard from the stage.

The Wolf looked at the pitiful being that was trying to stop the bleeding. He had already set off a beacon before entering the old part of town, so the police would come pretty soon. For the moment, all he had to do was keep the would-be assassin down.

"Now, why did you do it?"

He walked slowly towards the guy, playing with a knife in his hands.

OOC: how do you want my forces to react? We're ready to light the place up and leave no witnesses, if needed, but we need some kind of sitrep from your people or accidents could happen.
