OOC: This stems off of the "Terrorist attack in Altea" thread. Most posts following the war will be in the form of news reports and speaches.

IC:"... occured in Masqat. We had believed the city to be totally under our control and secure, but the terrorists seem to have a point of proving otherwise. This attack killed 10 Altean soldiers and destroyed 1 of our tanks. This is the fifth attack in the Masqat area in the past week. We will replace any troops lost in attacks, but we do not plan on additional forces at this time. However, if attacks continue to grow in frequency and ferocity, we may have to commit additional forces to this fight. Any international forces that want to help us maintain peace and security in this area are welcome to send troops to do so. As to the whereabouts of the leader of the terrorists, we believe him to have fled into Novak territory. Our forces shall not follow. We will let the forces of Novak deal with him if they wish. Thank You."

That was what Major General Kalon, Commander of Altean Forces in the area, said to the international community in a meeting of the press in Columbis. He gave this speech due to the International Community's questioning of Altea's actions in the region, which currently has no name.(See poll) President Arkantos was unavailable for comment.

"Today, in South Arabia, there will be no attacks. While this may come as a shock to most of you, the terrorists have vacated the territory. It took several weeks of determination and a strong national resolve, but we did it. The fact that there are now over six thousand soldiers (Using the 10x multiplier) there contributed greatly to the driving out of terrorists. Deployment of our troops increased after the attacks in Masqat, and, before long, we had a company arriving every day. Within 2 weeks, deployment had reached 6000 soldiers. By that time, the terrorists had given up on large cities and towns and had moved into the rural desert areas, getting closer to the Novak border. Eventually, with our tanks bearing down on them, the crossed the border into Novak, or killed themselves. Now then, with this success, our troops have gone into border patrol and police roles. A government and court system will soon be establised. Until then, all people arrested shall be tried in military courts. Any found crossing the Novak border illegally, either to or from Novak, will be shot on sight. Thank You."

This speech, given today by President Arkantos, declared victory in South Arabia. The International Community has been relatively quiet about this conflict recently. There has been no outcry or war threat against Altea over this.

In related news, the Apollo and the Artemis, Altea's only two armed naval vessels, set sail for the South Pacific today to establish an Altean presence in this region which could very quickly turn violent. In response to the recent news from the South Pacific, the 3rd Altean Army is being reassigned to various areas of the country, including South Arabia, to provide military support to police in case of riots over the South Arabian conflict.

Turning the area into a democracy is one of the highest priorities, after establishing a stable government and a fair court system. Once that is done, we plan on turning it into a semi-autonomous state (Like RL Puerto Rico).
