The Empire of Vektaria Launches SDI Satellite
BERLIN (AP) -- Vektaria has launched it's first SDI satellite, which will be used to defend the nation from all foreign threats. The Eagle I satellite was launched on a Scolar Visari-3C carrier rocket from a Vektarian Missile Compound in southwest Berlin. The three-state rocket boosted the spacecraft into orbit, where the satellite will begin operations almost immediantly. Five more launches are planned within the next couple of days.
When interviewed, Scolar Visari hailed this landmark achievement as another victory for the Empire of Vektaria on the technological front. "Our Scientist should be very proud of themselves. They have served their nation well."

Spec's of the Eagle I High Energy Laser SDI Satellite
The Eagle I is a space based High Energy Laser that will engage enemy warheads, enemy satellites and orbital weapon systems
Eagle I uses a one MegaWatt deuterium fluoride laser operating at the wavelength of 3.7µm. The deuterium fluoride laser constructionally resembles a rocket engine. In the combustion chamber, ethylene is burned in nitrogen trifluoride. This reaction produces free excited fluorine radicals. Just after the nozzle, the mixture of helium and deuterium gas is injected to the exhaust stream; the deuterium reacts with the fluorine radicals, producing excited molecules of deuterium fluoride. The excited molecules then undergo stimulated emission in the optical resonator region of the laser, then emitting the beam against the target instantaneously, superheating the target until it is either destroyed or rendered useless.
The fuelpods for the chemicals required, when fully fueled, can provide the weapon system with approximately twenty firings before requiring a recharge of its tanks.
