The broadcast was all over network television today, and on numerous cable networks. It was a landmark announcement, and it was guaranteed to be the biggest thing that had happened to the Empire since its formation years earlier. For forty years, the Empire had been ruled by the Emperor Tashta and his newly acquired wife (who have just had a son). Now, all that would change. This was truly the greatest thing to happen to Imperial rule since revolution.

Emperor Tastha stood at a podium bearing the Imperial seal. He spoke brilliantly.

"Citizens of the Glorious Eastern Empire of Tashta, I come before you today as your Emperor, bearing fantastic news. I bring before you today the introduction of something that will truly begin the process of giving China back to its people. We shall, as one, give the Empire back to the people, slowly but surely, as the Empire is prepared to transition. Why, you ask? Because the people are the nation's greatest asset. For it is the role of the government to serve its people. It is not the role of the people to serve their government. My role as your Emperor is to lead the nation to the best of not only my ability, but also in your interests as well. For Tashta truly belongs to the people, not to me. Every bit of this great land is yours as much as it is mine. That is why I am doing this.

Today, I present to you the creation of the Tashtan Senate, something that existed in both the former empire of Xi'an, and the old United Democratic Capitalist Republic. We will create a Senate of 100 elected officials to officially represent you, the people, in government. They shall have a voice on all matters of foreign affairs, and it shall be the decision of the senate as to whether or not the Empire goes to war, not mine. The Senate shall have a say on all national matters. But that is not the best part; any man or woman may run for a Senatorial seat. The only requirement shall be a petition of five thousand signatures supporting your role on the ballot of each province. The Empire officially has twenty five provinces, which means that we shall elect four Senators from every province. Should the Empire ever expand again, we shall add four more seats for every new province formed. In every provincial capitol, there shall be established an official station, where all matters concerning Senatorial elections will be centered. People of Tashta, it is with great pleasure that I do officially decree the first Senatorial Elections open. Tashta will be given back to the people."

It was a glorious occasion.


Five parties have emerged as the major political forces of the Empire. They are as follows:

Liberal Party
-Believe in complete freedoms for everyone
-Strong supporters of welfare and other government programs which benefit the less fortunate.
-Believe in a strengthening of education
-More money to domestic policies, smaller military budget
-Believe in strong central government
-Pro-peace, anti-war. Believe that the cornerstone of any foreign affairs system should be diplomacy

Communist Party
-Strong Marxist ideals
-Believe in government ownership of all land
-Regulation of wages, high taxes
-Controlled economy
-Little freedom

Imperial Party
-Less power in the senate
-More power for the Emperor
-Expansionist policies, believe in Imperialism

Francoist Party
-Beliefs rooted in Francoism
-Slight modifications to Francoism to fit the Empire

Fascist Party
-Believe that all people should be the same, there should be only Chinese living in Tashta
-Highly expansionist, believe in an Imperial mandate on control of all of East Asia
-Known racists running for office

As much as it pains a fellow empire to say this, we support the Liberal Party. Any bit of expansionism could plunge the teetering Asia into war. If the largest country in Asia is pro-peace, maybe we can stablize our continent. We do, however, advocate for allowing the emperor to retain large amounts of power in the new government.

We support the Francoist Party first and foremost, though we also think the Imperial Party may have some worthwhile contributions. We believe that the fascist party is illiterate in history, as China is and always has been a multi-ethnic civilization.

The Empire cannot believe that Tashta would allow Fascists to run for power, seeing as they would be highly detrimental to the improved Chinese-Japanese relations that have occurred under Xi'an/Tashta regimes

We believe in freedom. All may run for senate in the nation, no matter what their party. Remember, the Emperor still retains supreme power, and he is very pro-japan

We support a coalition with the Imperialists. The other ideologies are incompatible with Francoism. Especially Fascism.
