Something to think about...

My own personal opinion....ya...an old man rambling about nothing. Go figure.
One of the things I love about online games is the various communities that spring up. I loved it in 90...I love it now...but, I have seen some differences in 18 years online that bother me.I've met a variety of people from different countries that I haven't had the opportunity to visit. I remember when an guild (alliance) called ITB declared war on a guild called TFW. (an old DOS based setup that cost 3 bucks an hour to play). That was fun; I was a member of TFW (Temple of the Four Winds) at that time. We used magic spells and direct attacks against each other; while we sat back and bs'd on chat channels. We competed with stories. We fought directly. Mostly. We ambushd each other in game; the rhetoric got heated more and more everytime. We flung crap back and forth but..it was always in fun and we very...very rarely got to insulting. InTo Bondage...the evil alliance...and Temple of the Four Winds...the actually fairly nuetral alliance. And there were many other alliances there as well...of all shades. An old DOS based game. Was a blast at the time.
A night came where my enemy was on. I have a block that has persisted for nearly 18 years on the exact name. We were bs'n...and she hollered that she had to make a smoke run to the store; and would be right back. I tallked with her often but I cannot remember her ingame name. Her real life name was Lisa.
She died that night...
She was shot in the head as some dickwad car-jacked her. From what I understand she struggled and tried to get away and tried to protect herself...meanwhile I and other we bs'n in the game waiting for her to come back. It was two days until we found out for sure. All the time seeing her name signed in and talking to her like normal. She was an enemy...but, also a friend. And I cannot remember her name in game.
Some of you will want links...'or it never happened' There are none. At least none I have. For one; I do not surveil folks...some of you will take this with a grain of salt...and allow for the fact that I've been online since 90...congrats...and thank you. Others will look at this and say...yeah, been there. And with that, I feel with you.
Reason I go into all of this? This grudge crap needs to stop. You play long enough and you will have friends and enemies die. Sometimes both.
My take? We all belong to the same alliance. And that alliance is called 'players'. Treat each other with respect. We might get heated at times...but when you refuse to even talk? You have lost. That's my take.
And yes, I expect disagreement. I just hope you have no demons from years ago bothering you.
Walk the path as you see it.

I have an arch enemy who, harsh as it may sound, I would literally not care if he died. But other than him there isn't anyone I hate personally, Hitler and things like that don't count seeing as I never met him and he was dead long before I was born.
But I hate no one on the Internet.

What was the internet like back then?
As long as game arguments remain in character it should be chilled. Unfortunately though we have real life to attend to.

there are about 6 billion people I wouldn't care about if they died. If I did care, I'd go nuts. That's just a fact of life.
Friends, online or offline friends, are an entirely different matter.

I would care if they died, that's why I am a Socialist I guess.
Though on your side, if they all died the entire world structure would collapse, life would be very different, you and your family and friends would need to make your own food and products, etc.
Anyway I meant that I don't like him at all and would almost be happy if he died, though not that far.
