Tanks for the Memories Treaty
ODP


Preamble

The Light Brigade (TLB) and United under Scorn (US) pledge to not engage in unprovoked warfare against anyone, regardless of alliance affiliation (or lack thereof). We also pledge to not acquire, much less utilize, nuclear weapons under any circumstances. Pursuant to the principles that underlie our unilateral offerings to Planet Bob, we hereby agree to abide by the following:

Article I: Sovereignty

TLB and US are, and shall remain, free and sovereign alliances -- independent of each other in both internal and external policies. Neither party takes responsibility for the independent actions or statements of the other unless explicitly identified as such.

Article II: Non-aggression

A state of peace shall exist between TLB and US. If a member of one alliance declares war on a member of the other, peace shall be made as quickly as possible and the aggressor will offer reparations to the aggrieved, consisting of at least the cost of all damages. Similarly, the parties agree that neither shall spy on the other. All negotiations for reparations will be handled internally between the parties involved and the leaders of each alliance.

Article III: Intelligence

Signatories will regularly monitor each other for any and all possible threats. Should one alliance become aware of a possible threat that could cause harm to the other, they shall inform the alliance via secure channels in a timely manner. Members of each alliance are encouraged, but not required, to share any additional information that may be beneficial to the other.

Article IV: Optional Defense


In the event that either TLB or US comes under military or spy attack, the other signatory may, but is under no obligation to, offer any assistance (be it diplomatic, financial, or military) as agreed upon by both alliances. Financial aid shall be considered a gift (as opposed to a loan) unless otherwise agreed. The option to come to the defense on behalf of another signatory will be dependent upon the reason(s) the defender came under attack. The fact that the aggressor is larger and/or better-equipped is not sufficient reason for the other alliance to remain neutral. If the option to defend is not exercised, the non-combatant signatory will be neutral, offering neither aid, nor in-game/out-of-game spy operations, nor military assistance to any of the combatants involved on either side until the conflict is officially declared over, and further, would not violate any surrender terms.

Article V: The Tank



Both signatories shall retain their commitment to "The Tank," and hereby recognize the undeniable contribution it has made to their prior diplomatic relationship. The cry of, "Buy tanks, not nukes" shall be heard from each signatory throughout Planet Bob. Each alliance also commits to buying hybrid tanks, should they become available.

Article VI: Cancellation

Should either signatory see the need to dissolve this agreement, they shall notify the other signatory via their respective forums, 72 hours in advance.

Interesting pre-amble and excellent that you've find some friends with the same policies as yourselves.

I've briefly heard of TLB, never heard of US, but nevertheless, congratulations on the treaty & may your friendship be a long and prosperous one.

I'm personally a fan of ODP's, especially for small alliances like these two. It's a good way of saying, we'll fight for you should circumstances permit us to do so and to me seems a nice step up from a PIAT. Also when you're small you don't want to have to fully commit yourselves to defend another alliance while still learning, strengthening that friendship and finding out a bit about one another, before entrusting the security of your alliance with another's leadership.

Anyway, this probably isn't the place to discuss ODP's and their relevance.

Once again congrats to those involved, could you link us to your forums / IRC, I'd like to stop by and get an embassy with the pair of you?
