Once upon a time there was a proud neutral alliance called Novus Orbus. There were friends and there was controversy. Several nations left Novus Orbus (seemingly one at a time) claiming issues with our leadership. While it was true that our forum's root admin did become inactive for a time, some of these leaders left when we needed them most and formed a rival alliance much to our dismay.

At this point there was a decision to be made...

Do we strike them down as defectors?
Do we spread rumour and innuendo in an attempt to isolate them?
Do we record their names in the hallowed list of "He who must be ZIed"?

No, for I say that our former leader was indeed the problem. One voting scandal and a joint ZI hunting adventure later we realized that our true friends were those that tried to warn us of the coming danger.

For now is the time to proclaim that Invicta is not the enemy and indeed Invicta are "friend" rather than "foe".

At this point Novus Orbus would like to announce a Mutual Defense Pact with out brother (or perhaps sister) alliance.



Article I: Friendship

The signatories agree to do their utmost to maintain good relations, and to avoid any and all conflict for the sake of said relations.

Article II: Defense

Any act of aggression toward either party shall be considered an act of aggression toward both parties. Any attacks perpetrated upon one, shall be considered an attack on the other, and a corresponding state of defensive war shall apply to both parties.

Article III: Intelligence

Should either party have knowledge of information that may affect the military or political situation of the other, they are obliged to inform the other party.

Article IV: Aggression

Should either party deem it necessary to perform an act of military aggression on another alliance, the other party may, if it is consented to by both parties, participate in said act of aggression. Let it be emphasized that neither party is bound to acts of aggression, but is encouraged to participate.

Article V: Aid

It shall be accepted that either party may choose to send aid (in the form of currency, technology, and/or soldiers) to the other. It is encouraged for both parties to send aid in the other's time of need; however, there shall be no aid obligation.

Article VI: Cancellation

In the unfortunate event that this pact must be annulled or canceled, the initiating party must provide both five days notice before its cancellation, and a legitimate reason for its cancellation.
