Major Demonstrations in Nankyo Ethnic Tension Rising

Chanting "Yamato Damashi!" several hundred members of the Kokutaikai, an Yamato ultranationalist group, gathered in the Imperial Capital, defying a police ban on protests and raising ethnic tensions in the aftermath of a government announcement reporting on the naturalization of the Daikan Descendants from Manshu.
Rapid moves by the Ishima governments to fully naturalize the 20 million Daikan Descendants have challenged the core of Kyokujitsu's ethnic-based political system and inflamed the sensibilities of the Yamatojins, who until the return of the Daikan Descendants were the majority ethnic group in Kyokujitsu Teikoku.
The coalition government that had defeated the hegemony of the Yamato Party say that the naturalization was a process that would strengthen Kyokujitsu Teikoku. However, the coalition government, too, is struggling to contain fissures along ethnic lines as several radical factions within the Hanminjok Party is pressuring the National Party for affirmative action programs for the Kankokujins.
"We're living in very sensitive times," said Yeoh Junhyeong, director of the Center for Public Policy Studies, an independent research center in Nankyo.
The naturalization of the Daikan Descendants, who mostly consider themselves as Kankokujins or Kyokujitsujins, has tipped the scale against the Yamatojins, who had been 55% of the population. Now, once the naturalization process is completed, they will be 47%.
“The situation is very emotive," Yeoh said. "I don't think many care about which ethnic group is the majority. But a small but influential portion of the population believe that percentages are affirmations of their identity in the country, of their significance and their worth."
Demonstrators, who were dispersed by the Mobile Police, chanted "Nippon Banzai!" and vowed to return for future protests.
"This will continue," said Hiraoka Kotaro, the head of Kokutaikai, who took part in the protest. "If the Spirit of the Sun is tarnished, the nation will fall."
Kyokujitsu Teikoku has always had a low-level tension between the Yamatojin and the Kankokujin since its establishment 60 years ago. Most people had keep the ethnic identity of their family from before the Great Disaster, but a growing number have started considering themselves as part of the Kyokujitsu nation, a complete union of the two major ethnic groups. Sometimes these tensions would explode violently, with the October 3 Incident ten years ago being the most remembered case.
The current coalition government came to power in the last election when Ishima Kaigen, a navy hero, challenged the chairman of the National Party and went on to defeat the ruling Yamato Party by gathering the support of the Hanminjok Party.
"This is a process of nation building that has been the goal of Kyokujitsu Teikoku since its establishment," a spokesperson of the National Party told reporters at the announcement of the report. "We are going down the chosen path to becoming a full national union.”

OOC: Not saying. One thing you should consider: "who mostly consider themselves as Kankokujins or Kyokujitsujins". Some of the Daikan Descendants said they were Yamatojin.
I'm going to not post my total population until I get reach it IG, using the 1000x multiper.

***Message from Kyokujitsu Teikoku***
The Imperial Homeland can support 200 million people, if necessary. The tension is due to historical reasons, unrelated to overpopulation.
OOC: Teihondo (Imperial Homeland) has an area of 830,227 km˛ . If you include Seihou, Kyokujitsu Teikoku has a total of 1,207,896 km˛. It's certainly bigger than New Zealand (268,680 km˛).

IC: We severely doubt your abilities to support that many people given the low level of infrastructure present in your nation. We can only assume that you have a high poverty level. It is much more disconcerting that you claim to have a population much higher than many much more developed nations. Also, if the tension is related to historical reasons then a grievances council or other quickly established but effective methods should be set up, or you risk racial motivated violence spilling out. With that many claimed citizens, it would be far beyond your abilities to control, and this would surely plunge your nation into a state of anarchy from which we predict it will never recover.
