Mecha games and such

I just recently found Super Robot Taisen Alpha for the Playstation, and it's particularly nice to play it such that I can actually understand the menus.

Was it one of the Mechwarrior games?
What kind of perspective was given in the game?

I sadly never got to play that title. I've been wanting to go out and get it, though.
It is supposed to be the spiritual prequel to the Armored Core series.

I enjoyed the game play and the fact some of the missions were in-the-controlpit RTS while the majority was FPS made for an interesting niche along with the fact there is a dedicated following for network play.
LOL the other term for controlpit i used was filtered out.

I actually have Lone Wolf. It's pretty fun, but there is just no customization whatsoever.
I really, really like the idea of being capable of leaving a mech, however, and hope that in later mecha games they implement some system in which the mecha, while still central, can walk into a trap by several foot soldiers and possibly lose. I had before the game came out thought of all the cool things a player could do, such as hiding inside buildings, or placing suits at strategic points after running away on foot to lure others. But sadly, they made it such that you can't really do much at all aside from planting bombs after you've left the mech.

Or Super Robot frickin' Taisen. Seriously, I absolutely love this series to no end.
I liked ZoE. But it felt somewhat shallow and arcadey after awhile. The second was a terrific improvement, but it still needs some improvement and depth.

This thread reminded me I was planning to check out Armored Core: For Answer when it came out, anyone play that yet? Is it any good?

Strategy game =/= action game. SRW and ZOE and totally different genres, you can't compare them. ZoE had all the fundamentals to make a fun and memorable action game, and it did. Both times.
The only game I've ever played that comes close is the mech action in Lost Planet.

The story, graphics, parts, and all around customization has been greatly improved. If you liked 4, you're sure to love FA. I'm actually thinking of heading down to the store and buying it today.

They're mecha games, of course I can compare them. And one of the three was completely based off the SRT series.

Yes, and I want a third badly.

Too bad you don't have a PLAYSTATION 3, XBOX boy!
Annd...what one of the three was based off SRW?
Also...you can't compare them. Comparing them is like comparing apples to the cosmic !@#$@#$ dust which makes up the Crab Nebula.

Well, it's on the 360. I think I might just wait until the price lowers, though I'd like to support the series because AC:FA very nearly did not come over stateside.

Fist of Mars, of course.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. Which ironically can be compared pretty well (both are fruit, both are relatively circular in nature, etc.).

I was talking about ZoE 3, not any Armored Core game.
Ah yes, Fist of Mars. Hardly par for the course with the ZoE series. ZoE is about the action games, not the one-off GBA strategy game. (which I liked btw, though Original Generation is definitely better)
And don't dissect a saying.

Ah, well, ZoE 3 hasn't really been confirmed. I'd seen an article on it a year or two ago, but nothing since. So I'm not sure it's even being made right now. And that makes me sad face.

There are only three of them, and the points presented in the title are relevant to the overall timeline.
SRT is certainly pretty filled with action, you're merely not controlling the mech directly. And at least in terms of variations of mechs, characters, and even the storyline, I do love it more.
ZoE is very awesome, though, and I really think they should work on the 0 Shift and flesh it out even more. It would make for even more awesome gameplay than the second one...*starts a new game just to use the ability*

I never got to play Mechwarrior until the third one, which I had great fun with. It just seemed not as fun because the battles were much slower and the customization was at a much lower pace than I was used to.
This is mostly because the first mech game that I ever played was Armored Core 2, and the AC series is known for its incredible depth in terms of customization. Head, Core, Arms, Legs, Boosters, FCS, Generator, Radiator, Shoulder Extensions, Weapons on the back left and right side, and weapons on the right and left arms. Including AC options, you are left with huge amounts of customization to work with, and it's just something I haven't seen such standards in other games, sadly.
