Both houses of the Imperial Slavorussian Parliament were rattled today when Prince Dennis III, the son of former Emperor Dennis II, interrupted a minor vote in the Upper House of the Parliament. He took the podium and announced his claim as the rightful heir to the Slavorussian throne. “I am the one and only son of the former emperor and the throne is my birthright. Justinian has stolen what is mine, and the world has sat by while a foreigner was crowned emperor.”

The constitution does allow the Parliament to remove Emperor Justinian, in certain cases, however the constitution is vague concerning issues like this. The former emperor named Justinian as the heir to the Slavorussian throne, when his medical condition took a turn for the worse. This is only the second time the an emperor with a surviving son named another family member their heir, so there is little constitutional basis to expel Emperor Justinian. The prince claims his father was not in sound mind and body when his will was amended and because of that Emperor Justinian has no rightful claim to the Slavorussian throne.

The Parliament has agreed to hear both sides of the issue and to help both sides come to a reasonable compromise. However neither side is willing to give up the claim, and they will both fight tooth and nail for the right to lead the monarchy. Now both sides rally for support, in what appears to be the first Monarchial election. Both sides will have to make their argument to Parliament later this week.

A Monarchial election?

Prince Breaux personally wishes both "heirs" good luck.

Merely a figure of speech. The Slavorussian media has popularized the issue, calling it a Monarchial election.

Tibet recognizes Justinian as the sole and legitimate emperor as well. Emperor Justinian has proven his leadership to the world numerous times already.

A statement from Emperor Justinian:

"I'm here to defend my claim and my title as Emperor of the Slavorussian Empire. Another member of the royal family has stepped forward and demanded that his right to the throne be regognized. Sadly he has no right to make such demands. The Emperor has the right to name whoever he chooses as his heir, and that does not necessarily have to be his first born son. Although the prince has no legal basis to make his claims on, I suggest that if he is serious that he should take his issue to the Imperial Court."

A very wise and honorable move on the part of the Emperor.

The Supreme Imperial Court has decided to hear the case of Prince Dennis v. Emperor Justinian. Both sides are expected to present their arguments to the justices Monday morning. Both sides have hired professional legal representation to present their cases.

We await the trial, and hope for a peaceful outcome to follow.

Do you think it will give the Supreme Imperial Court too much power?

Realm has recently had to deal with a succession crisis of her own, in similar circumstances. The youngest son of the late Lord Pepin IV murdered his older brother and father and claimed the throne for himself. It was a dark time for our lands, and we wish you the best in reaching a speedy solution to this crisis.

We echo the sentiments of mykep. A Supreme Court deciding who is the rightful monarch sets an awfully high precedent for their power.

However, we recognize Justinian as the rightful emperor of Slavorussia.

There are concerns that Emperor Justinian's reign is unconstitutional. The court is simply trying to interpret the constitution in relation to this case.

Uberstein supports Justinian, and will invade Slavorussia if this imposter is put to power.

"You give your courts too much power, how do you know that this imposter won't simply pay them off?" -Uberstein

An invasion of Slavorussia would be a bad idea. It would force the RUSSIAN Pact members to take aggressive action against the Uberstein Empire and in return UES would surely defend their ally. Emperor Justinian gratefully accepts the support from leaders and governments across the world, especially his close friend Baron Uberstein, but we would like to avoid a major war that threatens to destroy Europe and Northern Asia. Slavorussians view this as an internal issue and hope that other nations will respect the sovereignty of the government and the powers of the Imperial Judiciary system, which are granted in the Slavorussian constitution.

Arctica will recognize Justinian as the rightful ruler of Slavorussia until the Imperial Courts or the Emperor himself decides otherwise.

Exactly, if this imposter takes power, bad things happen. Now maybe it won't be a full war, maybe it will just be an embargo, really matters if I feel like listening to my advisors that day.

The Court Justices heard the arguments of both Emperor Justinian and Prince Dennis today. They deliberated for 20 minutes before ruling unanimously in favor of Emperor Justinian. Chief Justice More said "the emperor has the right to name any heir, so long as they are of royal decent." Neither side has commented on the decision.
