Per the ideas put in here, I was hoping for an overall approval of expanding the map of the PR world by adding the gigantic land mass of Pangaea on the map in the middle of the Atlantic.

Yes we have people willing to give lands to future nations, but we have nations already RPing that may be looking to expand and colonize, not only that, but we now create new lands in which are free for all to take claims of. Of course we need an overall vote from the RPing community so I made a new topic here. Remember that Pangaea is all the continents put into one, so it can DOUBLE the worlds size. This will eliminate alot of competition in the world.

If we all agree, then we need ideas on how to put Pangaea into the world, either by volcanic eruption or earthquake, or anything.

One idea:

Quote

Earthquake shatters the 3 drifting plates underneath the sea, as volcanic rock hardens, it catches onto marshes and submerged plankton creating land farmable. The anti oxidents released pressure the submerged cities to the surface.

Prime Minister Johns idea:

Quote

In the Robertian Atlantic (much wider and than its Terran counterpart) a previously sunken continent (Pangaea, Atlantis or what ever we name it) resurfaces due to undersea volcanic activity in the area, this happens slowly over the course of several months of game time(in real time this could be several days). Coastal flooding could be avoided by just saying that the bedrock of the new continent is quite porous and deep and all the excess water displaced by the new land is absorbed and becomes the ground water of new land mass. and since the continent surfaces slowly no major tidal waves need happen either. And any undersea cities or floating in the area (if any) become grounded.

This is an OOC discussion topic on future RPing in this sub-forum, so all posts in here will be considered OOC.

Nice idea so everyone would be allowed to have a colony on it?

Its every continent mashed together, enough room for colonies and new nations

It's a promising idea, and it looks like it could be very interesting.

OOC (just my opinions as a player) :
We should limit our colonies to only small claims (perhaps one small city & its environs) to allow new people to get a decent chunk of land. The general idea is to allow new nations to have a place to establish themselves without stepping on previously established claims and getting curb stomped before they can even start to RP. The new land should be mostly kept for new players and a few small colonies of established players.

Of course it will be limited... Maybe RP somewhat of a meeting to determine the lines of what can and cant be taken. Save it for RPing though, because it could be fun.

Well, part of the RP would be limiting it. Naturally, some people wouldn't follow the rules, which could be fun.

I for one would ignore its existance and not recognize any claims on it. I try to RP as realistically as possible, and having a massive continent spring from nowhere is just not cool.

Either put it on a seperate map or don't do it at all.

realistically? We have people building underground and making artifical islands as well as submerged bases for new lands. Consider this an expansion for everyone to pounce on.

I don't support all that, especially since most of the people doing the most extreme unrealistic stuff have less than 300 tech.

Just because some people are doing small things that are somewhat unrealistic doesn't mean we can suddenly create a continent.

We have new people looking for land and the old map is getting crowded. We also have older nations losing thier colonies to newer people. I understand where you are coming from, but the CN map doesnt have to be the same as the RL map.

Why Atlantic and not Pacific?

We could also put the new map on a separate planet but this would make travel to established nations somewhat inconvenient... :P

This idea at least allows new nations to have some desirable land without infringing on established claims.

I would welcome other workable solutions to this problem apart from this Pangaea Idea.

Depends on how big it is.

I'll support an island the size of Indonesia, but I'm against anything larger.

Atlantic is considered the middle of the map, if you look at every map we used on these boards, Atlantic is always in the center.

Was kinda hoping to double the map in size. Its supposed to create new lands for new RPers to join in on, Indonesia size wouldnt support one never mind two.

The main focus of this is to avoid new RPers being kicked out the second they come on just over land disputes. We could easily have 20 other RPers in this subforum if they weren't destroyed off the bat.
