It always stuck me as being odd that nuclear weapons destroy land.
Just how can land be destroyed. At most a nuclear weapon can irradiate a piece of land.

I propose that instead of actually destroying land, a nuclear weapon prohibits use of a piece of land for a predetermined time period.

Then after about 40 days, the land will be usable again.

Well, thats basically how it is, right? Irradiates land, so it is unusable. The attacked nation can just "buy it back", in a manner of speaking.

But still.. 60 years after the only (RL) nukes fired were in anger, people live in RL Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
The radiation just dissipated. Why should land in Cybernations just vanish when a nuke is used.

True, but then one could say, where does the land come from that you purchase?

Not that I am against it, but this would weaken nukes a bit.

OT: You do not know where the purchased land comes from? Shame on you. Each nation hires a few thousand dutch engineers to turn water into land.

But on topic, i do not believe this would really weaken the nukes. When a nuke is fired, its to destroy either your opponent infra or military.

The loss of land (due to making it irradiated and unusable) is part of a nuke. It would be ideal if say 1 week after the attack it came back.

i think its fine as it is. you do not purchase "new land" for the money you spend, you "urbanize" it. if a nuke has hit it it is not "destroyed", its dust and rubbish. you have to pay again if you want to re-urbanize it.

The Rads from the Nuclear Explosions were non-lethal after 21 days. So yeah, remove the land loss from nuclear attacks.

Looks like I'm the only 'yes' vote. Nukes make the land unusable, basically destroying it. But then it grows back.

I think its fine how it is. You don't want every nation to have 10k miles of land.

This "Urbanization" is called "Infra". It simply makes no sense to loose land from a nuclear strike. :jihad:

Yes, as 40 days is a long time in CN. And it still costs the opponent allot during the war.

then where does the land "come from" when you buy it? is there a machine producing new land anytime someone needs it?

i see land purchase as "making land inhabitable". so if there is a forest, you chop it down or make a national park out of it, whatever. if a nuke hits it, its dust.

infra, is a bit different, because with infra you do not "prepare" an area to be useful, you create the structures you want to use afterwards. Streets, Buildings, Water- and Power-Supply. Stuff like that.

but well, i dont care. imho the destruction of land is okay, but i wont cry a tear if it is removed.

You forget, land already grows naturally in the game anyway. Just pretend that instead of aquiring new land, you're busy scrubbing the lost land.

Well in real life you can lots (and I mean lots) of "land" and dump it in the sea and keep piling more on top of it. So yes you can buy land. Japan does it.

I voted no. Land is easy enough to obtain, so from a game balance perspective there is no reason to add this feature.
