A Formal Agreement of Non-Aggression Between the Independent Republic of Orange Nations and the Maroon Defense Coalition.
Preamble
This pact is designed to foster amicable relations between the Maroon Defense Coalition and the Independent Republic of Orange Nations, to build a framework within which these two alliances can coexist peacefully, communicate freely, and resolve any disputes the two signatory parties may have in the future.
Article I: Recognition of Mutual Sovereignty and Independence
This is a Treaty of Non-Aggression signed by two sovereign and independent alliances, and nothing contained in this treaty is intended to compromise these two facts. By ratifying this treaty, the Maroon Defense Coalition and Independent Republic of Orange Nations affirm each other's mutual sovereignty and independence now and henceforth.
Article II: Terms of Non-Aggression
Member nations of the signatory alliances, the Maroon Defense Coalition and the Independent Republic of Orange Nations, will under no circumstances engage in military actions against each other. Also, neither signatory nor any of their constituent nations shall engage in acts of espionage against the other alliance, nor shall they knowingly and willfully render aid and/or comfort to known enemies of the other.
Article III: Consultation
If a member of either alliance engages in any of the proscribed activities named above, the alliance against which the offense was committed shall immediately notify the other of the incident. Following this notification, there shall be a 48 hour period in which no retaliatory attacks can be made. In this time there shall be communication between the two alliances over an appropriate resolution to the situation. The appropriate compensatory action may include, but is not limited to, a peace settlement including reparations to be paid by the offending nation, reparations paid by the sponsoring alliance, and/or expulsion of the aggressor state from their parent alliance. The parties to this treaty may request for an extension to this time period from the other party, which the other party may honorably refuse. If no agreement can be reached in the time specified above, this will be considered an acceptable rationale to seek honourable withdrawal from this treaty.
Article IV: Honourable Withdrawal
i. If either signatory of this treaty feels the need, for whatever reason, to withdraw from this pact, they will give the other 48 hour notice of this withdrawal to the other party, and that, after withdrawal is effective, that there be a 48 hour period after the withdrawal is effected during which neither party will engage the other militarily. After the 96 hours specified for the withdrawal and grace periods have elapsed, the signatories may honorably engage each other in any of the ways previously expressly forbidden by this treaty.
ii. If the either of the two parties attacks an alliance with whom the other has a mutual defense pact, alliance, or other treaties of a similar nature, then both parties retain the right to initiate the process of honorably withdrawing from this treaty in order to honor the treaty with their ally. However, both signatories of this treaty agree that, in such an event, that, during the withdrawal period, that there is to be some communication between the two alliances and the offended third party to see if a resolution can be reached, rather than have the treaty rendered void over conflict involving parties not party to this treaty.
Article V: Duration
This treaty stands for an indefinite time period. There shall also be a review of its content in 30 days from the signing of the document.
