Each "Chapter" more or less will cover one topic that I have planned, but it will also serve as our "news thread" during the portion of time that it is active. This makes it simpler to catch up with what is "active" to allow for greater community involvement. I plan story arcs, so therefore, feel free to jump into the thread and participate. Stephanie lead the fourth formation of the nation, but the nation eventually collapsed after being struck with a nuclear warhead in 2033. He served as the sixth President of J Andres and through clever politicing, managed to keep his sister from the throne during his tenure. He used his influence to consolidate offices and had his own loyal army. His attempt to grown J Andres to it's former glory was unsuccessful as his plans collapsed around him, leaving him in exile for extended periods of time. He was bestowed peerage in 1996 by King Josef I, making him the Duke of Boston, and granting nobility to his entire family. He was the eldest in the room and he actually experienced the nation's rich history compared with some of the younger royals in attendance. "When your grandfather, may God rest his soul, took the title of President General, it was for a short period of time. We can't have a supreme leader like that anymore." "I'm not talking about a President General, I'm talking about an Emperor," Benjamin said, a golden glimmer in his eyes. His father had nearly succeeded in assuming the powers of the Commune before, and his failed attempt had brought shame to their branch of the family, but Benjamin had a plan to get it all back--with himself at its head of course. "An Emperor?" Princess Katherine asked, finally speaking. "Or an Empress," Benjamin replied, appealing to her vanity. If he had his way, Katherine and her brother would lose their right to the throne. He continued, "An Emperor to be selected by a vote of the royals over the age of 18." A fire arose in Katherine's chest. "Vote by the royals? Everyone here knows clearly what you are doing Ben. Just because your branch of the family tree is more plentiful doesn't make it any more fit to rule." Katherine has always had a hatred for her cousins. There was too much of her Uncle Richard in Ben for her to like him. Although Richard has raised his children that way. "Perhaps it might be wiser to keep things similar to how they always were," Princess Samantha said. The elegant woman was the only daughter born to Prince Richard and was the person Katherine hated the most in the entire room. Although in this case, Katherine agreed with her, and she began to nod her head. Samantha continued, "Although I think we should lower the vote percentages that the Monarch gets in Commune." Katherine stood open-jawed. "I can't believe I'm hearing this," she murmured. The other half of the family was eager to get revenge. Had the Commune never passed the Equal Primogeniture Act then Richard would have become King, and likely succeeded in his plans for J Andres, and Katherine would be the one with no realistic hope of wearing the crown. Lord Michael spoke next, "I'm not a fan of having an all-powerful emperor, but I would not be opposed to eliminating the monarchy and this whole peerage system." The rest of the Annan delegation nodded the affirmative in unison. "Some of you must feel that this whole system is stupid. I am next in line to be the Duke of Rossingol. What does that even mean?" "I believe," Prince Larry began, "That we should let the people decide." He took a deep breath. "We have agreed to abolish the Departments of Domestic Affairs, and the Department of Energy. The rest shall be for the people. Bethesda Way is named after our longtime Foreign Affairs Minister, Mickey Bethesda who served nearly 40 years. Unfortunately, Mickey passed away last year at the age of 99. You may find Bethesda Way to be sparse compared to the crowds near Embassy Circle, but future construction was always in the plans for Bethesda way. If Embassy Circle continues to fill up, it will only be a matter of time before future embassies are constructed near you. It looked like J Andres might be successful once again, although, he had thought that before. He thought back to that cold January morning, when his mother, Queen Stephanie had gathered the family to sail on the very rusted [i]Rossingol[/i] to announce the existence of J Andres to the world. Larry's own announcement on the steps of the Government Center was a little more low-key, but fit the mood of the nation better. The citizens were exhausted, and Larry could not blame them. The nuclear attack on Providence in 2033 was too great of a hurdle for a small fledging nation to deal with. In the past five years, Providence has begun to rebuild and repopulate, but at the time, Providence was the largest city in the country. Larry looked around the offices of the Presidential Suite. He was sitting in the very chair that his uncle, [url=http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Mercton]then-President Richard Mercton[/url] announced the second Maritime Republic in 2016. Larry was only six at the time, but he remembered it was a big deal. Larry knew he would not be occupying the Executive Offices long, but he remembered how reluctant his mother was to use the executive powers when she was the head of the transitional government. "Perhaps if she was a stronger leader, we never would have fallen," he muttered out loud. He looked out the window and saw the city, illuminated only by some street lamps, and the occassional small firework that a citizen had launched. It was nearly 2:00 AM and it was time for him to retire for the night. "No time to ponder on the past," he said to himself. Larry walked down the stairs of Government Center to the car port underneath. He casually cleared his throat to wake up the driver of his car. "Oh, uh, sorry Your Highness. It's been a late night," the driver explained. Larry gave an understanding nod of his head and entered the car, resting his head against the door frame. The driver quickly got the car started and on its way to Castle Real, the home of the royal family. The drive should have only taken about ten minutes, but the deteriorating J Andres roads warranted a few detours. Larry kept his eyes on the passing streetlights that zoomed by the car window. [i]Grandfather, please give me the strength to lead your people to greatness once again,[/i] he said in a silent prayer to Josef I. He closed his eyes trying to mentally picture his grandfather. It had been a long time since his passing. [b]SCRREEEEEEECH![/b] Larry quickly snapped out his reminiscing state. "What in Josef's holy name was that!?!" he exclaimed. His question was immediately answered as he saw the larger Jeep vehicle careening just outside his passenger side window. "Who is that?" he asked the driver. "I've got no idea, Your Highness," they just swerved in from Acorn Street. One of the doors of the Jeep opened up and Larry saw a man wearing primarily black trying to wield something on his shoulder. He couldn't quite make out what it was, but he knew it was trouble. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he said slowly. Suddenly, the item glowed as it projected something out the front. On the other side of the car, Larry saw it hit and explode upon contact on the nearest building. "%$!&," the driver exclaimed, sharply turning down another side road. "Try to place a call, let them know of the emergency," the driver commanded. Larry kept his eyes focused on the truck. He afforded a quick glance down at the phone he carried in his pocket. The J Andres cellular networks were nearly as old as him, and service was the only thing less reliable than the J Andres government itself. "No service," the Prince stated as he looked back at the Jeep to see the man in black reload the weapon. The night was dark, but he thought he saw something on the man's right arm, but it was so hard to tell. The man in black had reloaded his weapon again and was taking aim at the royal car. The Jeep slowed down and was now directly behind the car. The man in black took hold of a handle inside the jeep with his left hand to extend his body out the door to aim at the royal car. The driver attempted to swerve left and right in an unpredictable manner to evade the inevitable next attack from the Jeep. "Who the hell are these guys? Iron Coast Nationalists?" the driver asked. Larry remained fixated on the object on the man in black's sleeve. Once again, the weapon glowed, and in that fraction of a second, there was enough light cast that Prince Larry could clearly see the blue arm band with the familiar insignia on it. The realization of what this meant would be Larry's last complete thought, as he began to say another silent prayer, but he only got as far as his sister's name before he was interrupted by the projectile hitting his car and exploding. No group is claiming responsibility for the attack at the time. Queen Stephanie has implied, but not officially announced that her daughter, Princess Katherine will fill the role of head of the transitional government until the elections take place at the end of the year. "At this time, my family needs the time to mourn. I question the political motive behind killing my son when there are ways to change the government without it. That's why we have elections!" the Queen said in an emotional statement from Castle Real. Princess Katherine could not be reached for comments at the printing time of this paper. The Queen has ordered the flags to half staff. Larry, the Prince of Endor Cuidad was the heir apparent to the throne as the son of Queen Stephanie and her husband, Prince Marsilius of Ilha de Canguru. He was 42 years old. Traditional Nationalists are struggling to identify with ideas that are further from the center than they are used to. [/quote] After the canine incident, Greenlandic officials were very wary when the next shipment of German Shepherd dogs arrived at the Embassy along with a statement from the J Andrean government. Their trepidation, however, were quelled when they heard barks. Exhaling relieved sighs, the Greenlandic officials informed Animal Services of all this. Katherine leaned forward and felt something holding her back. She frantically pulled at the restraints as the streets of Endor Cuidad seemed to melt away into that of her bedroom in Castle Real. She glanced to her right to see the sheets that she had just thrown to the floor. A glance to her left revealed the empty bed in which she lay, as she remembered that her husband, Gilbert, was not with her on this trip, and that he was likely asleep back at their residence in Puerto Pacis. She brushed the remaining sheets off of her legs and rose out of the bed, walking over to the bathroom. Upon entering, she flicked the switch and waited for the light to respond. [i]Any second now[/i], she thought to herself. The electricity hadn't been constant in recent weeks. Eventually the light illuminated sending the Princess backwards, squinting due to the brightness of the light. As her eyes adjusted she approached the mirror and looked at her reflection.
