While cultural pride is a healthy phenomenon, it can often transform into jingoism and hatred. The Republic of Umbrella is a multi-cultural alliance, composed of Americans of various ethnicities, Italians, English, Scots, Scandinavians, Arabs, Portuguese, Dutch, Jews, Belgians, Bostonian Trashmen, and many many more. It is one of our highest national ideals that cultural differences are part of what make Umbrella great. Some alliances identify themselves as one particular culture. This is a form of cultural pride. Nordreich is German, Sparta is Hellenic, NEW is Indonesian, among others. Umbrellans choose to live a different way of life but we accept the way these other alliances have chosen to live. We cannot, however, accept when people of a certain culture decide that other cultures cannot be allowed to exist. This is barbaric and any decent people should put forth any necessary effort to stamp out this behavior. The Hellenic Kingdom of Sparta, while proclaiming themselves as a Greek alliance above all else, has a good track record of tolerating other cultures. The situation in Sparta has deteriorated lately as the alliance suffered from economic collapse and damage from the Orange assault against them as part of the greater ongoing world conflict. Umbrella wishes our allies the best of luck in their war against the Kingdom and wishes the Spartan people the best of luck in constructing a stable and competent government to bring the Kingdom back from the precipice. One thing that we also wish for is justice for the minorities in the Kingdom. The separatist Hellas militia, led by former Spartan senator Alexandros o Megas, has seized control of a sector of Spartan territory. Reports have trickled out of the warzone of discrimination against the Macedonian minority that resides in areas of Sparta controlled by the Hellas militia. These brutal and unacceptable acts are strongly condemned not only by Umbrella, but by the Coalition and Doomhouse as well. The Coalition Security Council has passed Resolution 743, giving any and all Coalition forces authorization to use any means necessary to guarantee that the equality and dignity of minorities are respected in the Hellas-occupied sectors of the Spartan Kingdom. The Doomhouse Criminal Court has also issued a warrant for the arrest of the warlord Alexandros o Megas to answer for the crimes against humanity that have taken place in the warzone. In accordance with these decisions, Umbrella has dispatched Task Force Eagle against the Hellas militia. The primary objective of Task Force Eagle is to ensure the safety and rights of all people in the sector. The secondary objective is to neutralize the Hellas militia.
