The Amazing Sanction Race

Again, I am just stating that I find it weird that so many people can be happy with how stagnant the political aspect of the game has become. YES, they are obviously happy with it as there are 15 large alliances grouped together so closely. It's just not something that appeals to me.

If the quote unquote real politics of the game is boring to you, why don't you try your hand in the National & War or News Reports subforum. They all seem to have... fun, in an IC way... I guess.

edit: In deference to The Grinch I conclude with a "Lol, TOOL curse" and a " :(( Add line"

I could do that in the meantime, I appreciate the suggestion.

And you're probably right Grinch.

Stagnant politics are a result of stagnant gameplay. The reason all 15 of the top alliances ally to each other is because there is no reason not too. There is no competitive edge to being somebody's enemy in this game. The best way to truly revolutionize the political aspect of the game is to introduce some form of competition. I can give you a dozen ways that this could be done off the top of my head, but there does not seem to be much support for this type of change despite some of the "CN is getting boring" bellyaching that pops up from time to time.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. They're all allied because they don't want to be the ones to go down. So it ends up being a scenario that everyone is afraid to get out of. Maybe it's appealing to some people to be in a giant group like that, but I think for the most part, it's because no-one is willing to do anything about it. I completely understand why too. I mean, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a 14v1 war.

And that is my reason for trying not to be a part of it in the first place.

And now for a comment on the Sanction Race, given the thread we're in: Anybody think the top 12 will change by the end of September?

Edit: By change, I mean, somebody new in the top 12, not a change in order of the top 12 alliances.

It is a small possibility, unless another war breaks out or something happens to an alliance internally. TOOL and GPA are next in line for sanction if something was to happen, but CN has been pretty predictable so we'll see.

Edit: Drai, you're avatar makes me lol. :awesome:

Haha, thanks LP, that's the reason I picked it (well, it made me lol).

I think Echelon could probably get a spot soon too. They're at 180 nations, not a far jump away from 200.

Hai Drai!

also, ifI had to put money on a change, I think I'd say GPA would be the ones to enter the top 12. We'll see though... there aren't many weeks left in Septembter. I think it may take them a little longer than that.

That's true, they certainly having been proving they can still grow over the past couple months. I wouldn't be surprised to see them back up there soon.

We are close, I'm not sure if we're all that interested in picking up nations just to get a sanction though.

I think I can say with certainty that we're not. ;)

Echelon has always preferred the quality over quantity method, and I don't see us changing that to get a sanction.

Besides, there's still 4 score between us and a sanction even if we get the members :P

Definitely. Although alliances tend to grow in numbers even without deliberate recruitment. I'm sure you'll get the additional 20 members eventually, maybe it won't be over the next few weeks, but likely you will in the near-ish future.

I wouldn't be so sure. Any alliance that starts looking for mergers around your score is obviously going for something.

My first (and likely only) attempt at an update. Should it be wrong, someone please kindly correct my errors in a subsequent post, as I won't be around to fix anything tonight.

Commentary

In the first signs of stabilization around Planet Bob in weeks, New Polar Order posts it's first gain. Not to be outdone, Mushroom Kingdom also adds a couple more hundredths to their score, and getting two passes in the process (although perilously close to the Drop Line). Speaking of the Drop Line, though, The Phoenix Federation posts yet another large gain, causing us to lose North Atlantic Defense Coalition, Commonwealth of Sovereign Nations, and World Task Force to the Drop Line.

Today's special shoutout goes to The Superfriends who are celebrating one their one-year anniversary!
