The Amazing Sanction Race

I think he was saying that because there are more people they have more people to keep in line and control, which is somewhat true. But TOP deserves a sanction more than anyone else.

Let's see, if TOP got suddenly 160 more members, we'd need form few additional military units, create new squads, recruit couple more commanders/diplomats/bank staff, and that's it. At least if there are no secret hard to deal with issues, that emerge when you are over 200 members? (this is a joke).

I'm going to guess you are an Italian. Well, you'll have right to complain, when you win against us. OK, thanks, bye. I'm still proud, Lady Luck wasn't on our side though.

I just meant you may want to black out the "EURO 2008" part. :awesome:

Nah, we were the better team, more chances, controlled the game, true weren't most effective and passed the ball a lot in our back line, but Turks really could not challenge us. Too bad we didn't score earlier, then we wouldn't be so shocked.

The answer to that question was located directly in the sentence you quoted:P

In my personal opinion, there are far far to many alliances, especially small ones. And I personally feel that the game would be more interesting/engaging with less, more powerful alliances.

The playing field should change according to players' behaviour, not someone's personal preference. It makes little sense to demand a certain membercount when an alliance like TOP is superior to others in NS and score.

Your argument is seriously failing.

Please tell me, how does someone tell from number of members whether that alliance is successfully organized or not? Wouldn't a 400 member alliance of 5M NS with pathetic organization, still have better score then a 400 member alliance with 4M NS.

Organization can be observed from retention rate of alliances, from their growth, and their adaptation to the times.

Also, please tell me, what is the difference between managing 160 member alliance, and a 320 member alliance? How is it something radically different that is so hard to do, that it should be directly honored in alliance sanctions?

I think maybe I was to harsh in my earlier post.

But what I'm simply trying to say is, it's hard to manage more people effectively, and it's hard to gain that many people and keep them all. Nation building/economy is a skill, but recruiting and mass management is a skill to, and both should be recognized. Sure, I would support TOP in getting a sanction, but I also understand the 300 nation requirement, because both are valuable skills. Rating internal organization will always be hard, because it's incredibly difficult to quantify. For instance, in GWII TOP did incredibly well against GATO, but (Or so I've heard from members of TOP, feel free to correct me) they had little to no military organization.

Freek: I agree entirely, I was just casting my personal opinion - I in no way expect everyone to agree with me.

We've had a simple, fluid system which allowed for maximum flexibility in the war. Having extremely complicated systems, that emulate RL is not something that makes your alliance military immediately superior, infact I'd say that creating a too rigid system is a major mistake, and that too much organization in that way can be hurtful. Yes, we had probably less organization then some other alliances, but it was still an organization, and one that worked as was expected (fluidity was key back then). Now we have more complex system, but our basis is still being flexible, and self sufficient.

I'd say that we who gained, and kept 160 people who are all pretty amazing :), is proof that we can get that many people, and keep them. Infact, I'd say it's harder to get 160 high NS people, then 320 low NS people.

Commentary

Mixed results for the day today, with many healthy gains and many dreadful losses across the board. We'll start with the bad news, as The Order of the Paradox, The Grämlins, the Random Insanity Alliance, and the Confederacy of Imperial States all taking double-digit losses today. On the flip side, the Independent Republic of Orange Nations, the Multicolored Cross-X Alliance, Mushroom Kingdom, the Green Protection Agency, and the Mostly Harmless Alliance (who is now almost within a point of Sparta) all reap the rewards of double-digit gains. We also have a nice little race forming just below the Sanction Line, with The Order of Light, Monos Archein, and the United Purple Nations all pretty close to each other for runner-up status. Nice to see The Phoenix Federation come out on the plus side, but they're going to have to watch out as the Viridian Entente is only a point behind them. We might also get to see a maroon race, as The Templar Knights look to overtake the Random Insanity Alliance.

Today's special shoutout goes to the Greenland Republic and the Sons Of Liberty In Defiance: Welcome to the race, and may there be many fruitful commentaries regarding your three-way blue race with the North Atlantic Defense Coalition. :o

That's a terrible loss for The Grämlins, I hope he regathers his thoughts and moves back into his home.

It was over RL issues. Not any ingame ones. We hope he comes back someday. Yet I could not wish it on him :) If you get what I mean.

Does that mean he is quitting CN? I would hate to see what the Suggestion Box would come to without his math...
