The Amazing Sanction Race

As we saw with RoK (and now to a lesser extent/ongoing with MA), two small alliances rocketed from obscurity to sanction spots/are headed for one. I think it's important to keep the field to alliances with a chance for a sanction; but keep in mind how fast things can change, and any alliance currently on the list could grab a spot if conditions are right.

Aye, took the words out of my mouth...

Also, Ephriam Grey why are you not in #GGA???

That's awful. I want to see the Drop Line lowered. >_> Bigger alliances grow faster. The drop line is only going to rise, and it will rise at a faster rate than the alliances near it. I think 40% of 12th place's score would do.

Yeah, it's a sanction race, but there should be a modest number of alliances under the Sanctioned alliances to keep the topic interesting. >_>

How aboot we keep the ten/fifteen alliances below the 12th largest sanctioned/sanctionable alliance? Therefore there would be less numbers mess.

That actually causes more jockeying for the bottom position with alliances moving on and off the race. More work instead of less =/

It'd make the race more exciting if alliances were trying to get sanctioned, and try and get on the sanction race list

At that point, someone would inevitably once again try to create a "Sanction Race Race" thread.

Also, I had originally said three days below the Drop Line, but then got lazy and didn't want to track it. That being said, there's nothing saying that the Drop Line can't be changed - but it's easier from a math perspective to keep it a fixed amount below the Add Line. The proposal to have the Drop Line at 45% would place it down around 9 points, which seems more like an air mattress than a cushion. I wanted to give lower alliances a chance to bounce back if they ran into a bit of temporary trouble - but not a permanent home while larger alliances remained off the list. However, I've seen worse ideas than having it 0.50 below.

There won't be any more large jumps in the add line/drop line for a while because there are 4 alliances very close together at the bottom of the top 12. For the add line/drop line to move drastically again you'd need all 4 of these alliances to go up at once. So don't worry about another day like yesterday, and no need to change the distance between the lines.

Commentary

Yet another wonderful day for Ragnarok, who shoots themselves into 10th place and well into passing distance of Fark. A great day for some of the larger alliances as well, including the New Pacific Order, the New Polar Order, and the Multicolored Cross-X Alliance. The growth of Monos Archein is still strong but appears to be slowing just short of the tandem of NATO and Echelon, while the Green Protection Agency has yet another solid gain today and is back in a race with the Global Democratic Alliance - who sits on exactly 300 members - and with Nueva Vida - who recovered today after two days of heavy losses. Speaking of heavy losses, The Order of the Paradox, the Confederacy of Imperial States, the World Task Force, and The Templar Knights are all hurting after substantial losses for the four of them today.

Today's special shoutout goes to None: I heard that the New Pacific Order is in your neighbourhood.

Did RoK merge again?

ACL disbanded and their members were highly encouraged by their last government to join Ragnarok. Plus, we're defending the AA for a little while to give people a chance to move.

Does that sound like a merger to you?

It looks like Orange, Blue, Black, Aqua, and Green are dominating the Sanction race right now. It used to be Blue with 3, but now we're seeing a race between aqua and orange to see who gets the 3rd sanctioned alliance in. What happened to all those other colors?!
