I don't like the bracketing. The top 4 should all be #1 seeds in their own bracket. The next four the number 2's etc. I think it would provide a better competition.

 

I could change the seeding formatting, but the only practical difference that we'd see would be to make the bracket easier to comprehend at a glance.  However, it would also require the implication that the top four alliances (and 5-8, etc.) are all equal to each other, when in reality there were score differences that resulted in them being in different brackets.

 

I'd probably do it if alliances had been divided into "conferences" at the start, but that wasn't done.  The bracket tends to make a bit more sense once it starts clearing out in the second round.
