On January 17th, the first ‘official day of the conflict’, the MHA was still the largest alliance on Bob. Of the sanctioned alliances, MK took the largest drop in the past 4+, dropping from 7th and 205 nations, to 20th and 144. The war has seen the rise of RnR and RIA of the seizure-inducing forum pip. The lower tiers have seen many well known fade from the list including Rok, UPN, and STA.

Speaking only of this last day, the only pass was small and at the bottom, however read dominated with losses in the top 4 alliances, with MHA loosing slightly over ¼ of a point to earn the greatest looser slot. Only a handful of alliances showed significant growth with Polaris earning biggest gainer as it’s starts it’s post war rebuilding and gains nearly ¾ of a point. Nordreich, in second, has only about half the gain.

We aren't Polaris

And MK isn't largest loser. They lost about 21 score, which is in line with the average for the "main" frontline fighters across this war. Finding out who is the largest is a big difficult, given the very different exit dates for everyone, but I think that with around 42 score lost, NPO would probably take it.

[b]Commentary[/b]
Today marks a great loss for the Cybernations community. For over three and a half years - longer than this thread has been operational - Unspeakable Evil has diligently been keeping track of virtually every type of stat you could think of; often with little to no praise from the community at large. His steadfast work has resulted in the most complete historical records of Cybernations to date - far greater than anything this thread could ever manage. Today, Unspeakable Evil [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=299&view=findpost&p=2720757"]formally announced the closure[/url] of the Alliance Statistics Depot, and his withdrawal from the statistics-collecting business. This is a sad day for Cybernations, for today we have lost one of the greatest resources that this gave has ever born witness to. Without a doubt in my mind, Unspeakable Evil is by far the greatest statistician and one of the greatest contributors to our community that Cybernations has seen in its five-year history, and his work will be sorely missed.

At the same time, I must draw attention to another loss that Cybernations is seeing today; that of [color=gray][i]The Order Of Light[/i][/color]. A former sanctioned alliance; this white team alliance took a large hit after the departure of much of its leadership six months ago; something from which it never seemed to fully recover. Tonight's update will be the last time that [color=gray][i]The Order Of Light[/i][/color] is mentioned in this thread, for while some of this alliance's nations have gone to the [color=orange][b]Independent Republic of Orange Nations[/b][/color], the [color=blue][i]World Task Force[/i][/color], and [color=black][i]Nordreich[/i][/color], the vast majority have found a new home in [color=gray][i]The Phoenix Federation[/i][/color] - the only other formerly-sanctioned white team alliance still in existance - which has jumped nearly 400k NS today and who I expect to see return to the race in the near future. The relevant announcement is, as always, located in Alliance Announcements.

In non-obituary news, the [color=orange][b]Independent Republic of Orange Nations[/b][/color] and [color=black][b]Sparta[/b][/color] remain within a fifth of a point after both alliances post respectable jumps. The [color=blue][b]New Polar Order[/b][/color] uses a double-digit gain to bring their deficit against [color=orange][i]The Order of the Paradox[/i][/color] down to half a point, while both the [color=orange][b]Orange Defense Network[/b][/color] and the [color=brown][b]Global Alliance and Treaty Organization[/b][/color] add double-digits as well. Also doing very well is the [color=red][b]New Pacific Order[/b][/color], who loses six nations but posts a gain just short of a full point; more than enough to claim biggest gainer; passing two alliances in the process.

Mixed results in the first tier today, as the [color=#48D1CC][i]Mushroom Kingdom[/i][/color] gains more than a fifth of a point; dragging back ground against [color=black][i]Nordreich[/i][/color] while probably moving them safely away from [color=black]LoSS[/color], who comes within an inch of being passed by [color=purple]The Legion[/color] today after their quarter-point gain (I would hazard a guess that we will see a pass here in the coming days). [color=blue][i]NATO[/i][/color] also does well in adding a fifth of a point; just barely missing out on passing the [color=blue][i]Multicolored Cross-X Alliance[/i][/color]. On the flip side, [color=blue][i]Nueva Vida[/i][/color] drops a quarter-point; a result slightly exceeded by [color=blue][i]The Foreign Division[/i][/color].

Apart from the previously-aforementioned drop, the [color=gold][i]Federation of Armed Nations[/i][/color] has the worst showing in tier two as they drop an eighth of a point. They're not likely in danger of a short-term pass by [color=orange][i]The Grand Lodge of Freemasons[/i][/color], but they will want to keep an eye on their rear-view mirror. [color=purple][i]iFOK[/i][/color] cuts their deficit against the [color=maroon][i]Commonwealth of Sovereign Nations[/i][/color] in half after adding four nations and a tenth of a point, while [color=green][i]Legacy[/i][/color], [color=black][i]Asgaard[/i][/color], and [color=#48D1CC][i]Athens[/i][/color] all pull off passes.

I think we lost a staggering 1 or 2 points of score. Although I suppose that's what happens when you fight for 2 weeks, then have a break for a month fight for another week, another month break and wrap it up with another weeks fighting. Such is life :/


Also I'm guessing that NPO's return to pre-war stats should be fairly quick, given that only a small portion of their front page (top 40) nations had to fight the war, and those that did exit peace mode had sufficient warchests to rebuild, whether it compromised their wc or not. The small nations were always small, so the bulk of the losses would have been from the midtier which usually isn't hard to repair. They did lose around 100 nations, tho I'd hesitate a guess that the vast majority of those were either new players, or smaller nations sick of fighting after a month or two. So their dent on the score should be negligible. Plus NPO always put a lot of emphasis on recruiting, so they'll build their low tier stockpile rapidly again, which all adds up. I guess it depends on whether they put focus on rebuilding over maintaining wc standards, and growing at a more even pace with regards to infra:tech. I think this war were we saw high infra:low tech nations fighting high tech:medium infra, they realised having all the money in the world doesn't help when you're taking more damage than you're cumulatively dealing. (that's what I personally noticed in the upper tiers at least).

At a push for a guess on how long it'd take I'd say 5 weeks would be a fairly general guess.

I'll give it a month or so, if not less, before NPO gets back to being among the biggest alliances. The damage done against them this war wasn't really anything that can't be recovered quickly considering most of the fighting took place in the ankle biters, and the big people that did end up fighting were hand picked for their WC's.

Quite the opposite actually. We lost about 8m NS from our 50k+ tier, and 4 months of war can be a drag even on the best of warchests.
