The Amazing Sanction Race

I agree with keeping things the way they are. If updaters are fine with how long it is, then it's fine. Not to mention by taking out half the alliance a good portion of the regular posters here wouldn't frequent this thread anymore if their alliance wasn't in it.

I like this too. We should just have the top 20 alliances.

What possible reasoning do you have to make it top 20? If you want a top twenty thread then make a seperate one. Those listed in this thread that are not in the sanctioned 12 fit into requisites that have been around for awhile. Seriously, the people like yourself that want to cut it down really have no reason to except what seems to be a desire for more exclusivity.

Yeah, but a large member gain could concievably push MK over the edge. The alliances toward the bottom would have to double in score. MK is far closer to sanction than someone with 200 members who's near the current add line. Though I agree that some alliances such as Grämlins (hey, I figured out how to do the ä) are nowhere close.

Perhaps there should be a fixed membership add line of, say, 160 members and a drop line of, say, 130. Thoughts on that, anyone?

That said, the more I think about it, the more I tend to agree with those who say the smaller alliances being involved makes it more fun for more people.

-Bama

You got it Bama in concerns to the fact that more people enjoy this as it is. The only possible reason I could see it being cut down is if it was taking far too long to calculate all this and the regular updaters wanted to change it. The fact is they don't so those looking for more exclusivity are coming off as quite selfish for no apparent reason for such selfishness.

Now as far as those at the bottom being farther away then MK when it comes to score vs membership numbers? Some alliances at the bottom could just as easily merge and use one of their names thus taking an alliance name from the bottom to atleast near the top in much faster time then it would take for MK to build up their numbers to +200. Will that happen? No, probably not but it is also highly unlikely MK gets to 200 members anytime soon. I really don't wish to see any alliance removed from the list for having less then 200 members. I was just making a point with such that pushing for more exclusivity from members of certain alliances could easily lead to them losing that exclusivity themselves.

It isn't broke people, stop trying to break it.

People have updated the Sanction Race in its current incarnation in ten minutes and less. There is no reason to make it easier. It's not that hard as it is.

Yeah! Besides, what would it be without STA taunting RIA? That is the best part!

Completely disagree with this. If an alliance with say 120 members can make it into the top 12 in score, that is really damn impressive and should be recognized in the Sanction Race.

Also, I agree with HeinousOne about the format of the Race.

Commentary

Tonight's Update will start with my extreme disappointment with Sparta. Come on, you register net even in nations, and you only gain a point and a billion? Once you get into those kind of numbers, my entire perspective on things breaks down, and I'm sure a few people will accuse me of not being able to count that high. So just because you confused me, I'm giving Biggest Gainer to the New Pacific Order, and I'm forcing the Mostly Harmless Alliance to stay in second place. Let this serve as an example to the rest of you.

Other notable mentions tonight go to the New Polar Order, who gains a quarter-point, but is once again the subject of a cruel conspiracy to keep them on WAE Island, propagated by alliances like the Independent Republic Of Orange Nations, who gained a third of a point just out of spite. And two of the three alliances I mentioned above.

For what I believe is the 14th time*, The Order Of Light has closed to within a point of the World Task Force, meaning that the latter should be due for a half-point jump sometime during the next week. The Mushroom Kingdom also inches closer to the big line, closing to within an eighth of a point of the Viridian Entente.

* - I don't actually believe this.

The rest of today is mainly notable for losses. At first, I thought that the Global Alliance And Treaty Organization was going to win Immunity due to its fifth-of-a-point loss, but then I worked my way down to Monos Archein, who lost five members and two-fifths of a point, in what continues to be a very rough week for that maroon alliance. The Siberian Tiger Alliance deserves a shoutout for their relatively large gain, while RnR is once again the talk of the Third Tier, nearly passing the North Atlantic Defense Coalition by gaining an eighth of a point.

You're right. Alliances 12 points away from sanction averaging (+0.05) a day are really in the "race" for a "sanction". If you don't want this thread to be about the race for a sanction, go make your own thread.

If you're against exclusivity, why don't we put all alliances listed and just use some code that allows a couple of our updaters to do instant updates?

This is a marathon, not an Olympic sprint. If you want to run a different race, you can go make your own thread. :)

Best Year Ever

This one was a little harder but I finally just decided to give it to Multicolored Cross-X Alliance. Coming from two considerably small alliances that weren't well known, to going to the top of the stats and political safety. You've come along way baby, keep it going.

Worst Year Ever

Federation of Armed Nations. These guys used to be pretty much at the top last year. They were near 8 mill strength, well respected, and one of the best reputations for fighting ever seen. Then all came crashing down as their former allies took vengeance on them for major mistakes. Finally obtaining peace, they were later attacked by Pacifica and her allies. Obviously these guys are the clear winners for this category.

Commentary: Pretty standard day today. There were a few passes, but all from races that have been going back and forth for quiet some time. Valhalla and everybody favorite little pets have joined the race. This post will be posted twice. I hope the mods don't have a problem with it, the first post will be edited daily and the second post will be their for record keeping.

Passes of the Day:

TPF Passes Atlantis

GGA Passes TOP

NATO Passes Fark

Just as a reminder of ancient days Sanction Race.

Look at all those little alliances near the bottom and look where they are today. You are right though....they are no where near the top and have zero chance of ever getting close in the future from that point onward.
