Ok, once I heard a news report on a NASA shuttle launch with the usual

"and the space shuttle ... is launched, furthering the cause of peace and development"

(its something like that, I can't remember.0

Next news item:

The US military has announced that it has killed several militants in iraq following heavy fighting throughout the day.

Sometimes its quite hard to get off the floor.

My history teacher:

Girls are equal to boys every way. We(The girls) need the same rights, but I disagree with the EQA (Equal Rights Amendment), because girls shouldn't fight like the boys.

Edit: The fighting part was in regards to the draft.

"Freedom isn't free."

That's the worst, most trite, pointless cliche in the world. If freedom isn't free, then nothing is!

Well it isn't. Freedom only occurs when people fight for it. Thus cost of lives=freedom. It's unfortunate, but maybe one day it'll change.

Thanks! I didn't understand it until I heard your brilliant explanation! Now I get it : You gotta burn the village to save the village, war is freedom, blah, blah, blah. You have totally opened my eyes.

Seriously though, stop derailing the thread.

So, you tell him to stop derailing, but you continue to derail the thread...

I don't know if this qualifies as ironic, but there is brail (spelling?) on a drive-thru ATM machine

Wow, I have to agree with Kaiser here, you're being extremely contradictory.

Although, unfortunately, I know of no ironic things. The closest thing I can think of are the stupid warning labels. : P

OOC:Craig, stop being a jerk. He wasn't derailing the thread, you are. And you did completely miss the point of that quote.

It's not a "war is peace" quote. You are confusing alternate definitions of the word "free" in your interpretation of that quote, thus missing the point entirely. It's saying that freedom never comes without a cost (as in "not free" like the price). That doesn't mean the same thing as "having freedom means you aren't free." There is no irony there. It's a clever play on words and very true.

Whoah, calm down. Take a chill pill, etc. It's just saying that freedom doesn't come free, not that freedom is not freedom.

last time i checked, freedom only costs a buck 95.

BTW, the whole wirld isnt free...most of it actually isnt. So some dont believe in free will in such. So to protect our freedom, we have to go against those that oppose it.

Example:
A: I like eggs.
B: I like pancakes.
A: well we can have both right?
B: i guess, but then id need milk and u need juice.
A: true...but cant we just have everything?
B: table isnt big enough
A: why did they make tables this small anyway?
B: i dont know...

So in a world where people cant coincide with other peoples beliefs cause the table isnt big enough, some people choose to spill the milk, or steal the toast.

Is it really necessary to put "OOC:" in a thread in the water cooler?

Irony, eh? Well, one of my friends got the flu the day after he got his flu shot at the doctor's. That's pretty ironic if you ask me.

Well did he get the disease in a shot or the vaccine? If it was the first one it would make sense.
