Pikachurin Posted August 31, 2009 Report Share Posted August 31, 2009 ***PRIVATE*** Expeditionary Command Regional HQ Canalave, Disparu Disparu annexed Anticosti Island for one main reason; to protect Disparu and it's allies from any incoming attacks coming from the St. Lawrence River. The Island's strategic location makes it a great place for preventing enemy ships and planes from entering the St. Lawrence if they somehow got past New England and Tahoe. And Disparu's MDP with New England should be a great help with the defence of the St. Lawrence. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Disparu's north. Sure, there are several air bases scattered throughout the north, but the numerous inhabited Arctic islands scattered in the north could prove dangerous during times of war. Enemy forces could just land on one of these islands, set up a base or a research facility, and attack Disparu from there. It was the Disparuean Forces' job to protect Disparu, so they obviously had to annex these islands for the safety of Disparu. The islands may be worthless right now, but they might prove valuable during times of war. The Expeditionary Command was planning on annexing the following islands (OoC: Highlighted in orange on the map): Akimiski Island and the islands to it's west Charles Island Digges Islands Smith Island Belcher Islands Ottawa Islands Akpatok Island Mansel Island They had received approval of the mission from the Disparuean Forces' Central Command several weeks ago, and had received approval from Viniland (since the islands were part of the gigantic Viniland protectorate in Northern North America) several days ago. Now they were just waiting to execute the plan. The plan was quite simple. They would fly to Snowpoint, Disparu's northernmost city, then continue on to their first destination: Akpatok Island. They would plant the Disparuean flag to the soil, then continue on to Charles Island, Digges Islands, Mansel Island, Smith Island, Ottawa Islands, Belcher Islands and finally the Akimiski Island and the islands to it's west, planting the flag over and over again. Disparu's claim to the islands would be protected by Aerospace Command's Articuno Squadron. All islands are now under Disparuean territory. We are now headed back to Canalave. Over.", said the mission's communicator through his radio. "Good. I'll notify Aerospace Command about the new islands under their jurisdiction. We'll release a public statement as soon as possible. Over and out.", said the Expeditionary Command's commander. ***PUBLIC*** Cynthia Celeste, Chancellor of Disparu, approached the podium and said, "Greetings, my fellow Disparueans and nations of the world! I am here today to talk about Disparu's recent territorial acquisitions from the North." *image of Disparu's current territory is displayed* "As you all may know, Disparu is currently composed of what was once mainland Quebec and Labrador, as well as Anticosti Island. Today more islands will be joining our Federation." *the northern part of the map is zoomed in* "The Disparuean Forces' Expeditionary Command has recently launched a secret mission to several islands in the North. Their objective was to annex these islands into Disparu." *the annexed islands are highlighted in red* "These islands were part of Viniland's protectorate. We have talked to Viniland's government about this, and they have allowed us to annex the islands. As of this moment, the islands are now officially part of Disparu's territory. Article I:The Government of Disparu shall allow Submarine Cargo Vessels (SCVs) from Arctica to pass through Disparuean territorial waters en route to Arctica's northern holdings. Article II: Disparu shall not occupy or claim any territories adjacent to Arctica's northern holdings. Article III: The Government of Arctica shall inform the Government of Disparu of any major difficulties, course changes and anything major that concerns the SCVs and the SCVs designated route. Article IV: Both Disparu and Arctica shall agree to not commit acts of war against the other signatory. Any conflicts must be handled by diplomacy at all costs. Article V: If either signatory decides to cancel the treaty, a ninety-six hour notice must be given. Article II: Disparu shall not occupy or claim any territories adjacent to Arctica's northern holdings. Article III: The Government of Arctica shall inform the Government of Disparu of any major difficulties, course changes and anything major that concerns the SCVs and the SCVs designated route. Article IV: Both Disparu and Arctica shall agree to not commit acts of war against the other signatory. Any conflicts must be handled by diplomacy at all costs. Article V: If either signatory decides to cancel the treaty, a ninety-six hour notice must be given. Changes have been made to Article I; they have been bolded.
