Simple change, not sure exactly where the balance is... but since everyone is on a "lets do crap with tech" binge, why don't we make easy tweaks with whats already in the game instead of asking admin to add all sorts of !@#$ that has to be programmed from the ground up, instead just have him adjust a few default formula's.

To me, the most glaring issue is airplanes. The tech requirement for airplanes seems to be disproportionately low.

I know Seerow would like to see Airplanes receive a 10x modifier across the board (so Yak-9's would require 100 tech, not 10 tech) and I think thats a BIT extreme... but why not maybe a 5x multiplier.

That would make your top level aircraft need 500 tech to purchase (having an incentive to go over 300 tech) and would provide a wider range of planes that could be used in combat. Currently everyone either just uses level 9's, or level 1's... since the range is bunched up so tight someone can get 2 aid packs of 50 tech no problem and now they immediately have the ability to buy top level planes (from a starting point of 0).

The other reason for this is, with the change to the NS of tech, now nations that are sub 1K will be easily flying around in level 9 planes... that just seems so wrong.

So yeah, just a small tweak, should be easy to do, prevents the lower ranks from completely abusing tech deals to work over more unfortunate nations in their range who don't have the tech.

This is a gameplay issue to fix low str nations from hording lvl 9 fighters/bombers and picking on the newer players, and provides incentive for nations to go above 300 tech. Obviously you grandfather in current military units and things would right themselves pretty quick.

Things may just finally start to be balanced in the game :)
10 tech is nothing anymore unfortunately

I agree with 10x

When planes first came out I remember be able to buy a level 1 fighter and it took a long time before I could buy level 3 planes (the point at which i was told they became worthwhile). Today everyone and their mum uses level 9s.

5x sounds good to me, if we're going to keep the level system and not have tech making a difference to air battles in a more direct way.

I agree. 5X or 10X is good. And let's change tank levels and CM levels too.

Perhaps an exponential increase?

Say it works out so the bottom level is 50 tech, but the top levels require more, getting closer to 1000.

Something like:

Level 1-x6=60
Level 2-x6.5=130
Level 3-x7=210
Level 4-x7.5=300
Level 5-x8=400
Level 6-x8.5=510
Level 7-x9=630
Level 8-x9.5=810 (rounded up from 807.5)
Level 9-x10=1000

Maybe even add a 10th level that requires 1000 even.

I like this. Its smiple a makes level 9 aircraft seem like a goal to aim for as opposed to something you can buy when you hit 4K NS.
I would be happy to see it either follow this multiplier or 10x

Edited to correct a mistake: level 9 planes require 100, not 90 tech. So x9 makes them 900.


Actually, starting the bump at x6 would make it go steadily up to 1000 like I wanted... *goes to edit again*

Not as bad as all the grandfathered nukes we have from people dropping out of the top 5%, or from the manhattan project if/when it is implemented.

After all, Airforces can be destroyed relatively easily.

Go from 100 at bottom to 1000 at top level, and add a tenth plane lvl.

Maybe Eurofighter in position 9 for fighter (F-22 rising to 10), and the Avro Vulcan between the B-17G and the B-52.

Actually... it's over 15,000 nations that can currently purchase level 9's.

Just pionting out that that is completly wrong. To get planes you have to have infra as well as tech. and i don't know any sub 1k nations that have 1000 infra to buy level 9 planes. the minimum strenght to buy level nine planes would be 4k with no improvements, tanks, or other aircraft.

Requirments: 1000 infrastructure, 100 technology
Base Purchase Cost: $50,000
Daily Maintenance: $200
Strength: 9

I like the infra required here but I feel the tech is still too low.

Your infra levels with Seerows proposed tech levels is a much better proposal in my mind. 400 tech is still pretty low.
