Well, we all know who won this...

SCHWEINSTEIGER!

We need far more players like him.

Fair ending. Germany was the best team on the tournament so deserved this.

While Brazil has one more title, in my book from today Germany is the biggest footballing nation on the planet:

Out of 18 World Cups, they were in 13 semifinals.

Out of 18 World Cups, they were in 8 finals.

Now 4 titles and the most 3th finishes as well.

As Lineker once said:

Football is a sport where 11 players play against 11 players and Germany always wins.

Congratulations (also lold at how Brazil's president gave the trophy to Lahm--- guess who is losing, the next elections in Brazil lololol)

I don't know how some situations are perceived in different parts of the world...

In Argentina a situation like this one is perceived as a penalty

... but the referee said that the Argentinean player Higuain attacked the German catcher... yeah, right.  :psyduck:

ARGENTINA SHOULD HAVE WON!!!

IT WAS A PENALTY!!!!!

Now move this thread to the Boiler Room!!!!!  :war:  :war:  :war:

Funny, I recall a sort-like action on the other side, just with the keeper going in leg stretched!

Both players were in the right to go to the ball, the German goalie might have come in hard but he also couldn't have come in way harder and still be in the right. They were both watching the ball and ignoring eachother, obstruction of the goalie in the 16 trumps obstructing an attacker.

Germany has been the most consistent throughout the tournament, and they played creative, attacking football, so I'm happy they won.

Overall a very exciting world cup, better than the one of 4 years ago.

Yeah, the keeper could have had a gun and he could have shot the Argentinean player 10 times and the referee would still perceive that the Argentinean player "attacked" the German keeper....  :war:

Well I would have given the ball to the Argentina's on the side (corner or throw-in). Blame the rules.

German's keeper played the ball first.  Once a keeper has played the ball, it's illegal to challenge him, which basically means that the keeper can bash through pretty much anyone he wants so long as he plays the ball as part of that action.

So many 0-0's in this tournament. The group stage was AMAZING. Knockout rounds? Boring.

Since when?  It's illegal to challenge the goalkeeper if he has control of the ball.  The Neuer challenge was rubbish and there isn't anything in the laws of the game that favours him in that situation.  Also, Higuain didn't even challenge him.

It was a careless attempt for the ball that, much like some others in this tournament, showed that the referees didn't have the balls to do the right thing.

109k American fans at a 3-1 Man U win over Real in Michigan.

United looks good already and van Gaal didn't even started fully. That kinda scary lol

Was at the game, was absolutely insane as an American fan to see Man U and Real play. After the announcement yesterday that Ronaldo wouldn't play the entire stadium was chanting his name when he started warming up and then when he was subbed on. Bale was impressive as always, Real just seemed to lack the instinct for attacks, always holding the ball for too long.

I didn't go to the game but I definitely got caught in the traffic. Saw parking at $60/head at the Ann Arbor High School. :v:

He's a force of nature.  I love it.  When he came in, people were expecting fireworks from the very beginning, as if he was a caricature of himself and he would simply appease the media's desperate need for a rent-a-quote.

He's actually shown himself to be very professional and wasted no time in asserting his authority at the club, and the changes he's making aren't simply a response to the overwhelming desire to see United depart from how they were under Moyes.  He's making substantial changes and isn't at all burdened by the prospect of reviving United.  In other words, this isn't a case of van Gaal cleaning up Moyes' mess, it's simply van Gaal being van Gaal.

Oh, and Marca were being their usual classy selves after the game - Manchester United vs Real Madrid: Did Marca photoshop The Big House to add more Real fans against United?

Soccer has truly entered all facets of American life.  I was driving and saw a pickup truck with a big Bayern Munchen sticker on the rear cab window.
