The Department of Defense has approved funding for Hernandez-Segura's M9x series of land mines. The series comes in three configurations; the M97 anti-personnel mine, the M98 anti-vehicle mine and the M99 training dummy mine. All three mines use non-magnetic materials and high-density polymers to present a negligible magnetic signature and a reduced millimeter/microwave/radar signatures.

The Department of Defense has approved the procurement of the Area Defense Anti-Munitions system (ADAM). ADAM is the product of a cooperation between Bulldog Armored Vehicles and Precision Tactical to produce a laser-based CIWS weapon to disable incoming mortar and artillery shells, rockets, missiles and low-flying drones. The laser array, designed and produced in Selenarctos, offers an increased fire rate and lifetime advantage over the older STHAL systems purchased from the Kingdom of Cochin. The integrated radar system can track targets up to 25 km distant and engage targets automatically up to the laser's maximum range of 4 km. Unlike the Centurion C-RAM system, where missed rounds fall back to the ground, ADAM poses almost no risk of collateral damage and has been approved for deployment in heavily populated areas including Manila. Trials and training are expected to last another year, with deployments at major Army and Air Force bases following that. Precision Tactical is also working on a ship-mounted version of ADAM to compete with Phalanx CIWS guns.

"People who don't exist claiming to control territory that is clearly controlled by a different country is not in any way a state and recognition of statehood could be interpreted from insanity to seperatism, if these people that were recognised would actually exist. Your maps might be quite fun to look at and one even is a gif, but where would we come to if we would believe any map that was published by someone, disregarding reality in its entirety? One would hope that Selenarctos shows a bit more reason in its affairs of state, though we seemingly expected too much."

The Navy has announced that it will phase out the subsonic P-5 missile in favor of more modern supersonic missiles over the next two years. Work on three new missiles with short, medium and non-ballistic long ranges, designated the S-3, S-5, and S-7 respectively, is underway to replace the P-5 in land and sea deployments. In addition to supersonic flight, the new missiles boast improved guidance systems, integrated electronic counter measures, EMP hardening of critical system, and networked coordination between 'packs' of missiles. The medium and long range versions will both also be available in a jamming configuration (S-5e and S-7e) and with an ablative coating to reduce the effectiveness of laser-based interception weapons (S-5s and S-7s).

The Selenarctos Navy, in conjunction with Precision Tactical and Fieres Shipyards, has begun testing the ADAM laser CIWS system onboard SS Jacinto. If the tests go smoothly, ADAM systems will replace the Goalkeeper CIWS guns on all seven Duwende Class Frigates by the end of next year.

After much consideration and discussion with the islands and lands of the Selenarctos Protectorate Zones, the National Government is pleased to announce a change in policy. Selenarctos will continue to provide protection to lands of Oceania against outside aggression and interference but we shall reduce our roll in the formation of new governments. From no on, it shall be up to the local people and only the local people to determine their own path and destiny. This announcement marks the withdrawal of Selenarctos Peacekeeping Forces from protectorate zones, and all other lands outside the borders of Selenarctos proper. The SPF will continue its roll as a peacekeeping force, ready to be deployed and restore order and assist the White Cross on humanitarian missions wherever necessary.
