Aevum is a smaller alliance, which values quality of membership over quantity. It is generally believed that a single nation which willingly contributes time, effort, advice, and aid to their allies is worth more than someone who simply shows up to fill a chair, as it were. In many ways, Aevum is a meritocracy which requires a degree of service in exchange for the benefits of membership. Aevum is a mostly Libertarian alliance, although those with similar ideologies can also be accepted.

Aevum is Based on Five Core Principles

aevumseal.png

Growth

The main goal of Aevum is to foster the economic growth of its member nations as effectively as possible without resorting to military conquest. Member nations may benefit from advice, direct financial support, or even trades with their fellow members. The ultimate goal of every Aevum member nation is to rise within the ranks of the world's nations as quickly & efficiently as possible.

Strength

Aevum understands that the best way to grow is to cultivate military strength as well as financial success - if someone wishes to keep what they have earned, they must be willing to defend themselves against those who would seek to take it from them. While Aevum opposes nearly all forms of offensive war, Aevum members understand and accept that defensive wars are occasionally necessary to defend themselves and help protect other Aevum member nations. As such, members are strongly encouraged to aid alliance-mates who have been attacked by rogue elements or hostile alliances whenever possible (and may be required to offer military and/or financial aid to alliance-mates.

Unity

Aevum believes that members should help each other willingly, and that a sense of community enhances the overall CN experience. Aevum nations should never feel forced to help an ally grow in peacetime or see providing military aid as unwanted imposition - they should be eager to do so. This belief has its roots in enlightened self-interest - being willing to help others certainly increases the odds that they will be willing to help you when you are the one in need, but it also has roots in simple pragmatism - being a member of a close-knit alliance will generally make the game experience more enjoyable in the long-run.

Honor

Aevum takes pride in its willingness to honor all treaties it chooses to ratify. It also seeks to adhere to its own laws at all times, and to peacefully mediate disputes between member nations. Moreover, Aevum actively discourages pre-emptive attacks on neutral alliances and independent nations, limiting its enmity to hostile rogues and avowed enemies of Aevum.

Liberty

While overall participation is encouraged (and a complete lack of participation may result in expulsion), no nation is required to offer peacetime aid if they are unwilling to do so, or military aid or support if they are unable to do so. In addition, on those extremely rare occasions where offensive military action is undertaken by Aevum, participation in such offensives is entirely voluntary on the part of the members; only participation in defensive military operations is mandatory.

Aevrum Charter

Preamble

Aevrum is an alliance which believes strongly in the principles of freedom, but also recognizes the need for effective leadership in any successful and forward driven organization.

Strength, Unity, Liberty, Growth & Honor are the five founding principles we build the framework for this alliance upon and that which we strive for.

Leadership

The King and Archon are in charge of running the alliance.

The King serves as the head of state and can take direct command over battle tactics during war or delegate that duty to trusted Generals.

The Archon is in charge of managing internal affairs and any other alliance functions which need attention or delegate duties as necessary.

Member Ranks

Apprentices are new members, who have not yet begun building up to become nuclear capable.

SOLDIER

3rd Class SOLDIER - Members who have shown promise and with the help of internal growth programs are on track to becoming Nuclear Capable.

2nd Class SOLDIER - Members who have developed Manhattan Project and are Nuclear Capable.

1st Class SOLDIER - Members who are our elite fighters, who have at least Manhattan Project and Strategic Defense Initiative.

Master Rank

Master Rank are those who have the highest level of access to discussions regarding the direction of the alliance and are able to vote on proposals brought forth for an up or down vote.

Members need to be nominated by someone already within the Master Rank and voted in by the majority for promotion to this rank.

Raiding

Raiding is prohibited by members of Aevrum and those who raid risk being removed from the alliance without warning on their first offense.

Signed,

Noctis Lucis Caelum, King of Aevum

CANNABINOIDS: POTENTIAL ANTICANCER AGENTS
Scientific Review by Manuel Guzmán

Summary

  • Cannabinoids, the active components of Cannabis sativa and their derivatives, act in the organism by mimicking endogenous substances, the endocannabinoids, that activate specific cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoids exert palliative effects in patients with cancer and inhibit tumour growth in laboratory animals.

  • The best-established palliative effect of cannabinoids in cancer patients is the inhibition of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Today, capsules of ∆9 -tetrahydrocannabinol (dronabinol (Marinol)) and its synthetic analogue nabilone (Cesamet) are approved for this purpose.

  • Other potential palliative effects of cannabinoids in cancer patients — supported by Phase III clinical trials — include appetite stimulation and pain inhibition. In relation to the former, dronabinol is now prescribed for anorexia associated with weight loss in patients with AIDS.

  • Cannabinoids inhibit tumour growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumour cells, as well as by inhibiting tumour angiogenesis and metastasis.

  • Cannabinoids are selective antitumour compounds, as they can kill tumour cells without affecting their non-transformed counterparts. It is probable that cannabinoid receptors regulate cell-survival and cell-death pathways differently in tumour and nontumour cells.

  • Cannabinoids have favorable drug-safety profiles and do not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies. The use of cannabinoids in medicine, however, is limited by their psychoactive effects, and so cannabinoid-based therapies that are devoid of unwanted side effects are being designed.

  • Further basic and preclinical research on cannabinoid anticancer properties is required. It would be desirable that clinical trials could accompany these laboratory studies to allow us to use these compounds in the treatment of cancer.

Agora!, Anarchy!, Action!

Agorism is a libertarian social philosophy that advocates creating a society in which all relations between people are voluntary exchanges by means of counter-economics, thus engaging in a manner with aspects of peaceful revolution. It was first proposed by libertarian philosopher Samuel Edward Konkin III in 1975, with contributions partly by J. Neil Schulman.

Konkin characterized agorism as a form of left-libertarianism (specifically, left-wing market anarchism), and generally, agorism is considered to be a strategic branch of market anarchism.

The goal of agorism is the agora. The society of the open marketplace as near to untainted by theft, assault, and fraud as can be humanly attained is as close to a free society as can be achieved. And a free society is the only one in which each and every one of us can satisfy his or her subjective values without crushing others’ values by violence and coercion.

—Samuel Edward Konkin III

Counter-Economics

The concept of Counter-Economics is the most critical element of Agorism. It can be described as:

The Counter-Economy is the sum of all non-aggressive Human Action which is forbidden by the State. Counter-economics is the study of the Counter-Economy and its practices. The Counter-Economy includes the free market, the Black Market, the underground economy, all acts of civil and social disobedience, all acts of forbidden association (sexual, racial, cross-religious), and anything else the State, at any place or time, chooses to prohibit, control, regulate, tax, or tariff. The Counter-Economy excludes all State-approved action (the “White Market”) and the Red Market (violence and theft not approved by the State).

"In Scholastic philosophy, the aevum (also called aeviternity) is the mode of existence experienced by angels and by the saints in heaven. In some ways, it is a state that logically lies between the eternity (timelessness) of God and the temporal experience of material beings. It is sometimes referred to as "improper eternity". The word aevum is Latin, originally signifying "age", "aeon", or "everlasting time"; the word aeviternity comes from the Medieval Latin neologism aeviternitas."
