I write poetry from time to time, and a few days ago, I felt compelled to write a verse. It was during the near destruction of my nation, just after a GOON had launched a second nuke my way. As I sat there contemplating my future on Planet Bob, it occured to me to send what I had written to my agressor. Perhaps it was a fleeting moment of desperation, but if I was to continue on CN I had to learn how to make peace, how to communicate successfully and how to contribute to the Cyberverse.

Subject: Tears of War
Message: From a bloody grave i beg of thee,
To spare my people, my prosperity.
I seek no mercy, but rather peace, for what i've paid, is quite beyond me.
If there be more in yonder heart, than hatred bleak, and utter dark,
Compassion have for such as I, who have not wronged you,
And only fights,
For sake of glory, and sovereign lore,
So please accept these tears of war...

Peace was declared but unfortunately, devastation runs rampant within COBRA, as the enemy has continued hostilities. Only one other alliance has contributed to our defense but the GOONS are still pummeling us. Let it be known however, that we are prepared to fight to the bitter end...The peace operation screen is mutually available and we hope GOONS (Neutral Shoving) will consider a ceasefire in the future.

Essentially yes. That's the idea but I have no idea how to go about doing just that. Not too many folks are keen on protecting us and it seems stagnation has a firm grip on many aspects of Planet Bob these days.

Anyone in the top 36 should be able to protect you. If you can't find 1 out of those 36, then GOONS is not your problem. Your AA is.

 

Non Grata alone signed 2 protectorates over the summer. DK raided an AA and then signed a protectorate with that AA. Politics are not so stale that someone can't find a protector, provided they are not an idiot or aren't willing to accept limitations to the protectorate.

 

Typical limitations: a micro-optional clause (so micro wars don't automatically blow up), negotiation clause (protector has right to negotiate peace before jumping in), or a non-chaining/aggressive clause.

Rather than getting desperate for peace, you should prioritize defeating the threat & lead by the example you want others to also follow in dealing with the existential threat to your alliance and others they've attacked.

 

If those they invade just try avoiding damage when attacked and peacing out when they can, what message does that send to others also fighting them on what to do? Giving them peace to avoid damage frees up their slots to attack new targets and maximize damage on those who actually are hitting them back as hard as they can. Think of the enemy of your enemy as your ally in this war & coordinate with them.

GOONS are a band of rogues who have attacked a lot of alliances, GOONS are at a disadvantage if these alliances all fight back & put up a united front.

 

Fark on their own will likely defeat GOONS give enough time, coordinating with them & others to ensure GOONS slots are heavily occupied is a winning war.

General Kanabis, I can tell you're new and you likely need a new AA. 

First thing I notice is that you have 30 cruise missiles.  :facepalm:

Decom all of those things ASAP. They serve no defensive purpose, cost you money in bills and just get destroyed. Only buy cruise missiles right before you use them (2 at a time for each target, then use them immediately).

Your improvements are completely messed up. You don't even have the harbor or foreign ministry, which are the first two you should always build and never destroy for any reason. 

 

There are also a shit ton of other things I could advise you on, but I have no reason to. Overall, I would advise you join an alliance that can actually help you. Teach you how to build, how to save money, how to fight, etc. COBRA is clearly not that kind of alliance. They obviously haven't even been able to show you the most basic of basics. I'd find an AA that can help you rather than one that's a bunch of fish in a barrel.

If a GOONS nation is wrecking their nations unoppossed, Fark & others fighting them obviously missed a spot. Making them aware of the nation who needs nuclear coverage and coordinating your attacks with the nuke drops can make even weaker nations able to contribute to taking the advantage. As long as the nation is getting nuked, not all the nations fighting them need to be nuclear capable. 

 

Just max out on Guerrilla Camps when you get the chance.

No durr. Point is, they're being destroyed by a disbanded alliance, which is pathetic. Why? Because none of them know what they're doing. You can't honestly expect effective coordination between people who stockpile 30 CMs and don't know what tech dealing is. Coordination among experienced alliances and players can be a challenge, so simply shouting "coordinate!" isn't likely to change anything.

I appreciate that. I knew I would get a bunch of fecal matter for this post. I knew there would be the typical rhetoric (like, "cool story bro") and being called pathetic is tantamount to a baby being called asinine for not being able to walk. I hear all the advice and I am taking it all in, especially from you. Thank you.

SNX offered an opportunity to merger as well as allowing one of their members to be a foreign officer in SNX and learn how our system works... unfortunately the active leadership has been lacking in time to implement improvements, hopefully this conflict kicks them into gear and makes them stronger.

If their alliance can't teach their members basics, then yes, they are pretty much hopeless. Alliances require a whole lot of effort. If it were simple, I'd have one of my own. 

Not to squash your good intentions. If you think you can help him then by all means, go right ahead. I always like seeing new nations getting help, but I'm directing him towards a different AA for a reason.

I'm calling your alliance pathetic, because it is. Plain and simple. If you think ill of me for that then go ahead and ignore the sincere advise I gave you. In which case, you'll probably continue with COBRA before finally saying "fuck it" and moving on to another tiny alliance that has no idea how to teach and grow. It's completely up to you. It's nothing personal when I call your alliance shit, because again, it is. If your leaders can't teach you, they aren't worthy of leading. I can give you advise but it's up to you weather or not you can take the criticism. If you expect to be babied, you'll go nowhere. Except maybe into the depths of shit like Methrage and his friends.

You're just disagreeing with me for the hell of it,  but you know I'm right. Some cheap infra to rebuild matters very little in the scheme of things, how they conduct themselves when under attack will define their alliance.

I think we've defined ourselves as an alliance who is a very damaging target to hit & one who is capable of fighting long wars spanning many months if needed.

I still hold my Senate Position, which is what we fought to obtain. I had won what I wanted before Kashmir and many others attacked, but our ability to continue fighting off those who attack us until they have "something better to do" is among our strong points.
