The Unfurling of a New Banner

It was dark.  The moon hidden behind the mist was no help.  I had been gone too long.  The feel of my sword strapped to my hip comforted me as the night grew blacker.  Strange eyes were there and gone again before I knew if they were real or in my mind.  Wars had been fought on these grounds since the last time I stood in these woods.  I saw banners everywhere; some new and others tattered.  I did not recognize the banner men.  Strangers stood where my treaties were signed.  Was there anyone left?  Had the old ways been burned away?  I saw familiar enemies wearing new faces and it seemed like my former allies had all been scattered.  All was an unjust ruin.

I called out to old friends in far away realms, their banners unfurled as they marched to my side.  Once warriors, once mighty, we were small but not humble.  Our former nation's glory still burned within us.  We marched the land we once knew.  New nations joined us.  New faces were added to our ranks.  Flying Sabres was alive and forged anew.  It took time to find the rest of our allies.  The smoke was thick and the world burned around us.  Maxnmike guided us and gave us rest.  Doomsquad pointed out old friends and NonGrata showed us what paths our allies had taken.  We once hunted our enemies and now we hunted our friends.  The way was precarious and there were those who tempted us but like Odysseus we fought our way home.

On a night as black as pitch we found them, my Sabres and I.  They had held to the old ways and pioneered new paths.  We found them by their song.  Kashmir burned bright and together we lowered the Flying Sabres flag for the last time.  The King, The Prince, The Hermit, The Keeper, The Piper, and The Hangman, all of Kashmir welcomed us.  The Flying Sabres is now and forever joined with Kashmir.

It saddens me to see that the Sabres no longer fly this world but I wish all the best with your friends in Kashmir. Good luck to you all and try not to burn everything down Kal.

maxnmike, you will always be the buddhist cowboy wizard on top of the mountain guarding our backs with rifles and a smile.

Very sad you did not make it but I still wish you all the best.

This is the very definition of making it.  We returned to Bob, we found our friends, we ride to war with them, we rock out with them, and now we raise the same banner as them.

As MistressMisfit said, the IRC channel will always be open and we will always be there.  Friendships is what brought us back to Bob and keeping those lines of communication open with friends will be what keeps us here.

The little while I creeped around you guys I decided I liked you.  The fact that you've merged with some of my favorite people makes me happy.  Goold luck moving forward and don't let YOLO touch you too much.  Give him an inch and, well, you know the rest......
