Britain Ascending, Chapter I: Alexander’s Regime

New titles for the President and Lady of the House, Irish Protests on Elections, Ports Finally Opened, Science in the Republics and the New Discovery.

Edinburgh- The advancing of the United Worker Republics requires a more civilized and traditional address of our honorable leaders, His Majesty, the President, and his Fiancé, Her Majesty, the Lady of the House. The new titles of the two most well-known and formerly, honorable, people in the Republics, Joseph Alexander and Lady of the House Audrey March, represent their importance to the nation not as honorable, but as the majesty of the lands. This suits their importance.

This might affect the nation’s politics. Especially the new Articles that are the constitution of the nation, give His Majesty even more power than before. This allows him to be, theoretically, the sole representative of the nation to the people in the isles as well as those beyond. What the future holds for the Republics may be dark and unknown, however the light of President Alexander lights the way for the whole nation to see. The future is bright with the Workers.

Dublin- The problem with the Irish is simple: they simply cannot embrace Worker rule over their island. A recent protest in Dublin comes for a reason that will make all back on the other side of the sea laugh: The dominance of the Labour Party. Elections in the United Worker Republics are fair, unbiased, and most of all: enjoyable. They are enjoyable for the people who care to go to a station and read about the people, and decisively choose who they agree with. It happens that one-hundred percent of the votes are granted to the Labour Party. The fairness of the U.W.R election system cannot be understated.

How many showed up to the protest? About nine-hundred, which is sourced to the Worker Republic of Ireland and its government officials, which were unlucky enough to have to witness the unfortunate display of total cluelessness, and were forced to make His Majesty, the President aware of the situation.  Alexander had just recently left London for Edinburgh on his yearly ‘Address to the Republics.’ He is scheduled to reach Dublin in exactly 3 weeks, and it is the last stop he makes on the tour. We are sure he will address the issues the Irish have with great pleasure and with top-notch security as always.

Dover- New work will come to the few living in poverty and unemployed as finally, following discussions with various nations across the world, the ports and ferry’s across the isles have finally opened and, much to the delight of the tourists of the Republics, the most notable of these is likely Dover, which is now open to take people conveniently into France. The unfortunate Civil War in France might hold most back from going for a while, however once the war is over (which will hopefully occur soon), the crowds may pick up.

The most surprising thing here is not the opening, or the war, but the fees to go from Dover to Calais. With one car and a family of four, said family can arrive at the French border after paying only fifteen shillings. This allows nearly anybody to go on an enjoyable family vacation--, or, as previously stated, once the Civil War is over and a reasonable government is placed into France. The recent history between these two nations is fair following France ceding the land after fair discussion and negotiation by both parties.

Bristol- The world is an interesting thing. As knowledge of our world, as well as beyond, continues to advance across the globe, the Worker Republics are becoming the front-runners in these scientific experiments. How are we managing to do it? The explanation is simple: the isles attract scientists. One of the reasons for this could be the government-funded scientific program, which is absent in most countries. So, what discoveries have been made hence far?

One of the greatest is the discovery of a new unicellular organism. Scientists predict that over three thousand of this organism are located in the city of Alexandria alone. Mostly located in trash bins and other storage areas of waste, we have yet to discover exactly what attracts them to the waste piles, much less how they got there in the first place. Scientists predict that this organism could have been present for almost twelve hundred years in the isles. Bristol is the base of operations for the scientific project about the new organism, as well as many other important scientific projects.

Second Address to the Republics, Listening to Belfast, Alexandrian Water Contamination.

Cardiff Caerdydd- Yesterday the second address to the republics, the first being the opening speech in Alexandria, took place in Cardiff Caerdydd, the capital of the Worker Republic of Wales. Wales has been the quietest of the Republics since existence and is expected to turn out to be the shortest of the addresses. However, we will go over what exactly His Majesty, President Alexander, said and what his goals for Wales are below. The speech was measured as twenty seven minutes long, which makes it the shortest speech President Joseph Alexander has made since his assumption of the position of Head of State of the United Worker Republics.

“Since what I would refer to as the Second Elizabethan Period, our isles have been in a state of transition. Dozens of governments claiming sole ownership of the isles, only to each fall after failing to sustain a decent government. Thanks largely to Wales, the United Worker Republics have been able to create a government in the isles that works…a land of opportunity and absolute gain. And in this land that we have created, it is important to remember that we are all in this together, and one man being superior to another is simply greed and arrogance. Hence why this new government has been created; not to overpower you, but to represent you.” Was the opening announcement of Joseph Alexander in his speech. The remainder of the speech is available online.

Belfast- The next scheduled Address to the Republics is to be in Aberdeen of the Worker Republic of Scotland, which will be in 3 weeks. However, that one is expected to be fairly similar to the opening one in Alexandria 2 days ago. Therefore, the notable one, and one that should be listened to by even people not in the Republic, is the Northern Ireland Address in Belfast next month, a week following the one in Aberdeen. So, how come Belfast could be the most interesting Address?

Northern Ireland is, surprisingly, the least known state in the Republics only second to the Isle of Man. Northern Ireland is commonly misinterpreted as part of Ireland, which occupies five sixths of the island known as Ireland. It is the one state who will have a speech significantly different from the opening one in Alexandria. Scotland, Ireland, and Wales will all have similarities with the Alexandria opener, while Belfast, the quietest of the states, will likely be very different and unrecognizable compared to the others, despite Joseph Alexander making all of the speeches and announcing them himself.

Invasion of Cantabria, and Invasion of Asturias, by UWR Forces. (1/7)

Satander-  Yesterday, at exactly nine o'clock at night, the first invasion by British forces took place around the Cantabria region. British soldiers are attempting to infiltrate the capital of the region, Satander, causing fear and distress to rise from the situation for many people. However, following many interviews and surveys, we can determine that a large percentage of people in the region are looking at the optimist's side of the situation, since the region will finally be moderated by a governing body rather than the region being in literal anarchy for years and years on end, the only Spanish land not in anarchy for a long period would be Andalucia, before Northlands folded under what is thought to be pure political pressure.

The 9 PM invasion took place on shores about 70 miles east and west of Satander, where the soldiers, thought to be under command directly from the President of the United Worker Republics, or U.W.R., Joseph Alexander. His orders are thought to have been interpreted as peaceful entry, with fair treatment of any Spanish people who do not attack the forces first. Only in a situation where they are ambushed should they fire back at the Spanish. This should come as a relief that the United Worker Republics are treating the Spanish fair and have no intentions to needlessly and inhumanly kill innocent people during the invasion process, at least in this region.

Asturias-  At about nine o'clock last night, the United Worker Republics landed in the region of Asturias, landing ships on the shoreline. Shortly following the naval landing, U.W.R. Airplanes landed in airports across the region including in the capital, Oviedo. Many of the planes released soldiers, while others simply prepped to go back in the air. This area has been known for high levels of resistance, however the people of the region also show that they want to have a stable government, just not the U.W.R. or any other communist nation similar to it.

Because of this high resistance, Joseph Alexander, President of the United Worker Republics, took it upon himself to order the aerial bombings of the capital city of Oviedo, however British forces were also requested to evacuate about half of the innocent residents before the bombing run would begin. The bombs began at eleven o'clock and ended at one o'clock, and from what little we heard from survivors, the British soldiers treated the Spanish innocents fairly and protected them from gunfire and ambush from the resisting forces of the region. Joseph Alexander is expected to visit the region personally next month to establish a commanding outpost for future expeditions on the Iberian Peninsula. Edited by Peter Ilyich
