Centurius
With the success of the Commonwealth Summit and an increasing amount of popular support for reunification with the United Kingdom it was finally time to proceed to the next step of the movement. A representative of the Novak government would be invited to meet with one from the United Kingdom in Canberra to formally discuss the future of Australia. Voodoo Nova
The representative would arrive in Canberra to discuss the situation in Australia. Government services and economic opportunity have been improving under the administration of the United Kingdom, so the representative was prepared to hear what the UK had to say regarding the region. Centurius
The representative upon arrival would be escorted to the Parliament House which had served as the de facto headquarters of the Royal Australian Protectorate Detachment and the civilian agencies tied to it. While given a formal ceremony the decision was made to not draw too much attention to the event for now. Essentially opting to keep things professional. The delegate would be further escorted in where Colonel Montgomery was waiting.
Voodoo Nova
The delegate, Captain Salaam of the Novak Navy, would meet the Colonel. "Thank you for professional and formal ceremony. I have an idea about why I am here today, so lets begin."
Centurius
The Captain would be pointed to a chair and offered something to drink from a wide array of beverages of all kinds. "Thank you for coming, I have a feeling we are both men who like to be to the point. Over the last few months the UK has held a position in the protectorate and throughout this time we have grown closer and closer to the Australians and they to us. Several days ago we were formally issued a petition signed by one hundred thousand Australians on a referendum to join the United Kingdom in full. As the territory is still your protectorate I would like to discuss this today and see if we can reach an agreement"
Voodoo Nova
"I believe an agreement can be reached on this matter, but the decision will have to be confirmed by the citizenry of Australia. What did you have in mind?"
Centurius
"What we suggest is that nominally administration over the protectorate is handed over to the United Kingdom, this will coincide with a referendum which can be monitored by observers from Novak to confirm legitimacy. Such a poll would have the option of full independence, remaining a protectorate of the United Kingdom, reverting to a protectorate of Novak and finally integration into the United Kingdom proper. An option has to have more than fifty percent of the vote. Based on those results further actions would be taken to execute the result." Voodoo Nova
"This referendum would be appropriate, with the 50% requirement. We have seen the work the United Kingdom has done to improve Australia, so we would not be opposed to the protectorate region falling under the protection of or under proper governance by the UK. Should either of those options be chosen, we will wish to maintain control over Perth and the islands just off the coast of the city for a military presence in the East Indian. I have the authorization to state we will hold the referendum in two months time. During the referendum, Novak will observe the vote and the ballet counting." Let's begin preparations immediately."
