Diplomatic Note from Nordisk Rike

The Nordisk Rike Government was over joyed to hear that the people of Landfall had re-emerged and found their home within the Kingdom of Malta. Since the Nordisk Rike under the previous name of the Kingdom of Sverige has a history with the people of Landfall and a shared interest in their well being, we formally invite the Kingdom of Malta to send a representative to our nation so that we may foster relations together and work together in the future.

The Malta Trade Envoy would be escorted upon arrival to the Nordisk Rike Palace, where they would be met in a conference room by the Jarl of Economics, Eyja Raegna. She would stand up from where she was sitting at the table and bow as they walked into the room. "It is a pleasure to meet you, I am the Eyja Raegna, Jarl of the Economics for the Nordisk Rike. I must say, I look forward to this meeting, as any nation that hosts the people of Landfall we hold in high esteem."

"They were a curious bunch upon arrival to Malta. Expatriate Landfallians from all corner of the world arriving by ship and plane looking for a new home as the world went to pieces. They never really have explained why the choose Malta, they just started showing up. We don't regret letting them in, they've made themselves right at home and have proven a vital cog in our economy and lately we've seen a noticeable blending of Maltese and Landfallian culture."

"Well I have been given permission by the Krigsherre to offer any financial support that the Kingdom of Malta might need in helping to house, clothe, and feed the people of Landfall. We hold them very dear to our hearts in the Nordisk Rike, and would do anything to protect them. If there is anything you might need for them, we invite you to not hesitate for even a second to contact us and we will respond immediately."

"They aren't hurting, trust me. That vile swill they sell, Death Juice, is the top rated alcoholic beverage of choice on Malta. They are doing just fine. We thank you though for your offer. The King wishes me to ask about your interest in the White Cross treaty. He wishes to point out that while your attendance at the League conference speaks volumes about your lack of interest in the League of Nations, the White Cross is a separate entity. It in no way requires you to sacrafice your national sovereignty to foreign interests."

"We are not that familiar with this White Cross treaty, so perhaps you could bring us up to speed on it? It would obviously be a little silly on our part to join an organization that we don't have any knowledge about. Depending on what it does, we may be willing to conduct affairs with this organization."

"Essentially you would be required to dedicate funds and land to assisting in humanitarian relief. Each signatory establishes or designates an existing organization as their national chapter of the White Cross. This organization then reports to the International White Cross committee. This allows information sharing and facilitates relief operations in crisis regions."

"While we may be able to provide some monetary compensation towards a noble cause, we however cannot afford land, which is a precious item currently in the Rike. The good land we have is currently used up, and we are still spending massive amounts of efforts to clean up after the nuclear strikes launched against our nation. As far as a national chapter, it would largely be unneeded due towards the fact that most organizations that we have within our nation that is similar are direct controlled by the government, and are only answerable to our government."

"The White Cross is funded mostly by the government given the expense of ongoing relief operations, meaning the tune the White Cross dances too is that of the King. I think much is the same in other countries as well, if I recall correctly, your Russian neighbors named their version the Red Star, not overly surprising given their ongoing tragic love affair with their beloved Marx. The International Committee exists to facilitate discussion and information sharing for humanitarian issues. As for the land, its even less available in Malta given our size. However, if our neighbors are in crisis and refugees show up on our doorstep, we'll find room for them. Its more than just a treaty obligation, its an obligation on a much deeper more human level."

"Well due to our special situation in the Nordisk Rike, having faced large scale nuclear attacks, an extra organization funded by our government within our state would be an expense we could not afford at this time, we are however willing to allocate some foreign aid finances to fund your organization to help out other nations that have been struck by war and other natural disasters. We feel for other humans, however we cannot allocate a portion of our state or our people at this time. So we hope you will accept our small contribution towards your efforts in the form of money."

"We are about to launch Super Float, which will hopefully rebuild the Trans-South American and Trans-African Railway for the betterment of both of those continents. A contribution to that effort would be appreciated. Onto other topics, what is the Rike opinion on trade and commerce."

"We will contribute to your relief efforts in Africa and South America. We are prepared to match anything Malta puts into this recovery project. As far as trade and commerce go, we consider ourselves the gate keepers of the Baltic, which is a rich and prosperous region currently, especially when you compare our stability and peaceful control of the area, to many other regions of the world. We have no issues reducing tarrifs through treaties with other nations, and making Baltic commerce an option for lucrative business men wishing to monopolize on our peaceful region."

"It's very simple, we would conduct diplomacy with them over the matter if we felt it could be resolved in such a manner, if those talks failed or we felt that it could not be resolved diplomatically, our troops would raze their country to the ground, and turn their capital into Ash."

"Malta was built on trade and commerce, to us it is an inalienable human right and a necessity for prosperity. To stifle our ability to prosper through our god given right to conduct commerce would result in more or less a policy of reciprocity. We seek to protect our trade and encourage the growth of it along with protecting the commerce of others. It is what we have sought to establish with the Economic Security Pact, a culture of measured response through negotiation and reciprocity."

"Simple, we protect our trade through reciprocity. If someone stifles our trade, we first negotiate and then have the possibility of doing to them what they did to us. If they block our trade in say the Artic Ocean, we block their trade in the Atlantic and the Med until such a time they agree to relax their stance. This depends on numerous factors, most of them political and how it would fit in with our other agreements with nations outside the pact. I'm curious, who have you heard of us from?"

"Blocking trade in the Arctic? Are you saying that you fear that we would blockade the Arctic, and would be prepared to blockade our trade in the Atlantic and Mediterranean? I must say that would be a little discerning considering how our talks have been going so smoothly before."

"I wasn't aware your nation conducted trade in the Arctic Ocean, if so, is there anything worth trading for up there? The Arctic Ocean is a hypothetical example, chosen not to offend or alarm yourself or any other outside parties that may become privy to the details of this conversation."

"Well for a hypothetical example you must be aware of our strategic position as well as our interests in the Arctic Ocean since that is where we are based and our allies hold the most power, it is in fact the reason why we have a military expedition in Greenland right now because of a Confederate landing there."

"I'm certain there are members of my government who are more aware of your situation in Greenland, I myself am a humble purveyor of trade goods. Could you brief me on the ongoing situation in Greenland? I will relate this to my government."

ooc- my trade rep wouldn't have any idea about what is going on in greenland and the galicia thing hasn't developed enough to comment on it.

"Just some North American usurpers attempting to gain control over European Soil. Nothing much to really talk about, they only have a finite amount of time to send a diplomat to Iceland or we will open fire upon their fleet and watch it sink. In the Atlantic the Rike can easily dominate the waters with our massive Submarine Fleet. So there really isn't anything that is necessary to relay. We hope they do not send anyone, we have many extra munitions in which to use."

"We have a centralized government which controls most major corporations, and has a say in those that we do not own. We have removed product price hikes by controlling the market of goods that are produced nationally. We allow private small businesses, however any major entity generally becomes government owned, sooner rather than later. We however support our nationals heavily in producing businesses in other nations as to allow for our own little monopolies else where in the world."
