Adella Winkelman sat her in desk within the lavish office recently given to her. Many others in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave her dirty looks either when they walk past her office or when she walked past them. They thought that the only reason that she received her position as a deputy minister of foreign affairs just because Kim was her older sister. However she didn't care, to be honest, her and her sister had a very strenuous relationship, they almost always bickered. Nevertheless she worked hard in her field and it was time for her to visit The North.

Diplomatic Communication to the Nordisk Rike

"Hello Comrades in the North. As Cascadia and the Nordisk Rike have never had any diplomatic talks before this present point we would like to open them. Now we understand if this is not appealing to anyone in your government. If it is however that would be wonderful. I am prepared to travel to the Nordisk Rike at a moments notice so I await your reply."

Diplomatic Reply from Nordisk Rike

The Government of the Nordisk Rike is more than willing to open up dialogue with the Empire of Cascadia. We apologize for the years of silence between our two nations, but the former government didn't have desire to stretch their diplomatic arm to nations that were beyond the borders of Europe. We invite you to send a diplomat and any personal to assist in opening dialogue with our nation, and invite you to join us. If you so desire we are more than willing to build  you an embassy to host you and your staff on a more permanent stay within our nation.

Around midnight Adella's phone started going off, "Oh what is it now?!" She complained. She walked over to a phone and checked it, "Oh it is the Scandinavians," she smiled and quickly typed a reply.

"There is no need to apologize for the lack of communication when we could have done more. I will personally travel immediately to Stockholm and if you could set up a room for a more one on one talk that would be excellent."

Adella quickly packed her bag and had her personal car pulled around to the front of her estate. The car brought her to the SFX and her personal plane had already been prepped sat on the tarmac black as night. Two Cascadian Rangers stood on either side of the steps leading into the plane. As she stepped in they followed her up steps. "Let's get to Sweden," she told the pilot.

After a few hours the plane made its descent into Stockholm, every member of the crew, including Adella strapped on gas masks, as was the custom in the Nordisk Rike. The door and steps opened and she walked down onto the tarmac.

The Cascadia official would be met by a small escort staff and would be taken to the new palace that had been built to honor the deceased King Karl Gustaf, as well as to be the central government headquarters of the Nordisk Rike. Since this was the first nation that was outside of Europe to enter the nation with a diplomatic team, great care was being placed on hosting them well. Upon entering the building they would pass through a chamber in which the air would be filtered out and fresh air pumped in so that gas masks could be removed. Staff and members of government could be seen moving all through out the building urgently each moving quickly to their next task. They would be escorted to a room where a diplomat would be waiting, a middle aged man staring out the window overlooking the city watching the construction crews hard at work trying to clean up and rebuild the city.

As they drove through the city Adella would marvel at how stunning it was even after the attacks. Pulling out her phone should we take pictures of the city and her people, uploading them to social media sites. The drive was somewhat long but she didn't mind a bit, she enjoyed the city, admiring the reconstruction efforts funded by the Rike. The Rangers, Crow and Raven were quiet, they peered through their windows from time to time but mostly they stuck to what was directly in front of them, specifically the escorts, of which they did not know the names or units of but they remained silent.

When they arrived at the palace she couldn't believe the magnificence of its grandeur. The palace was massive and was a true piece of modern architecture, but Adella wasn't fully fixed upon on the palace, she was focused on the statue of the great king Karl Gustaf. She walked straight over to it, and called Crow over to her. "Crow the package." She thrust her hand out without taking her eyes off of the statue. He handed the oblong shape to her, to which she brought it in front pf her and unwrapped it. Under the wrapping there was a ultra dark grey sword that Adella balanced between both of her hands. There at the foot of the statue Adella got down on her knees and laid the sword at the statues feet, she bowed her head, "Great King Karl Gustaf, we in the Cascadian Empire humbly thank you for your service guarding our swedish brethren. We are sad to see you gone but your legacy will live on forever in the hearts and minds of Cascadian citizens and Scandinavian citizens alike, we hope this can bring our nations closer together in an alliance. Thank you for all you have done."

Upon entering the building, even though she was used to it, was glad to get out of the chill. She was glad to see that they had filtered air and she wouldn't have to keep on this scratchy gas mask created with more masculine people in mind. After reaching the waypoint where it was safe to remove the masks she pulled the mask and her jacket hood off simultaneously, revealing a young, beautiful, pale, dark haired girl. They moved quickly through the building so they wouldn't upset any of the government workers doing their tasks. Adella entered into a room where Crow and Raven would wait for the meeting to be over. She pushed open the door into the next room and strode over to the scandinavian. "Hello I'm Adella Winkelman, you must be my contact her in Stockholm, it is a real honour to be here."

The man would turn around from the window and face the young woman, he was a middle aged man dressed in a military uniform as was pretty standard for most of the Nordisk Government. It took away individuality and promoted a presence of uniformity. He would extend his hand to her in a welcoming manner with a smile. He would reply to her, "Welcome to the Nordisk Rike, Madam Adella Winkelman, my name is Arn Rangval, I am the Jarl of Domestic, basically the man in charge of the internal affairs of our glorious nation. I must say that I am quite pleased at finally meeting someone from Cascadia. We have been watching your nation for years and have grown a level of respect for your nation despite not having any contact with nation before. We view you as a nation that views things in the same manner that we do. So Madam Adella, how may I and the Nordisk Rike be of service to Cascadia today?"

Adella smiled brightly and shook his hand as Arn spoke to her, "Well it is a great pleasure of mine to be here. Like many Cascadians I have family that can find its roots in Sweden. Similar to the Nordisk Rike watching us, we have been keeping a eye on them that is bigger than most nations we keep tabs on, and the tragedy that has forced your citizens to wear gas masks daily is just as terrible as one can get. What I have come before you to propose is a treaty between our two nations. This treaty will encompass a mutual defense agreement and an Economic agreement. Thoughts?"

"A treaty you say?" He pointed to a chair at the table before taking one across from the younger woman. "I would say it is a bit bold on your part to come here and the first thing you ask for is a treaty. Our two nations barely know each other, plus the other issue is the huge distance between our two nations. What benefits would the Nordisk Rike gain from signing a military treaty with Cascadia? It seems to us that you may have more to gain from a diplomatic tie with our nation than we would get with your nation. So perhaps you could enlighten me on the benefits on a treaty with your nation, and how we would could deal with the nasty problem of supporting you from such a long distance away."

"Oh, thank you," Adella smiled as she sat down. "Yes I completely that what I have is bold, but I believe in being direct. I don't see the point in beating around the bush, when you basically already know what we want, so I thought it prudent to just come out and say it," Adella chuckled. "Our nations may barely know each other but as we have both said our respective nations have been watching the other. Cascadia has many things it could offer the Nordisk Rike, for one, Cascadia is extremely loyal to her allies. Currently we have two AAS's with plans to acquire more in the near future. These ships can each with the ability to carry three companies of combat troops, these ships can get to anywhere the Nordisk Rike needs within a week and secure areas for other troops to be flown in by air. The Cascadian Empire has recently secured large swaths of territory and with territory comes resources, so to answer your question, we have anything the Rike needs.

"We aren't looking for a satellite state to order around. We had attained self sufficiency under the rule of King Karl Gustaf, however due to the nuclear strikes we are heavily realiant on food imports from other countries, but we still have vast swathes of resources, so we are currently not in the need of that. It seems with war on the horizon between you and the Hordes of Asia, support from the Rike would be a tipping scale for them to seek diplomatic terms with you over armed conflict in concerns to the region of Alaska. This then brings me into an issue that I already stated. With them controlling the Falklands and without our military bloc having gained control of Greenland yet, there really isn't a route to you to defend you in the event of war. The treaty would be highly one sided. We sit as part of the strongest Military Organization in Europe, one which if it really wanted to compare itself to others, could say it was the strongest in the world. The only logical route to ever help you would be through the Hudson Bay, and currently there is vast territories with which are not controlled and would make transporting an army to you difficult."

"Well we are not looking to be a satellite state, just merely great allies. Cascadia has large foods production centers that combined make thousands of tons of food each day, so in retrospect we have an overabundance of food, this can very easily be sent to the Nordisk Rike for very cheap. Yes, war is on the horizon against the hordes of Asia. Each day they threaten us to give them territory that is rightfully an american nations. Think if an African Kingdom demanded you give them Finland. It would be preposterous. As you said, Nordisk Rike support could tip the scales so in a sense you might not have to fire a shot, but don't say it would be difficult to reach us. It would surprise me more than anything else if you couldn't sail to Northern Yukon, where we have constructed a large scale port in the event we must route all our trade through there. Rail lines connecting this port to Vancouver, Juneau, Anchorage, and Fairbanks, means your troops could get to anywhere in Alaska within a week.

"The Food supplies have already been dealt with, we are trading with many other nations for that purpose. We do appreciate the offer however. As far as the Hordes of Asia, why haven't you met them with fire? The Rike would never negotiate with a foreign power trying to push their way into our continent. We would have opened the gates, and unleashed hell fire upon them and drove them from the territory. The problem of logistics isn't about moving about your nation, it is dealing with how to get to you, unless you have forgotten there is a vast body of water and a huge body of land that separates our two nations. The closest logical point of support would be through the Hudson bay, but there is still a huge separation from a landing zone and actually reaching any hot zone within your nation. How would you propose we over come that difficulty."

"Well we had not met them with fire because we did not want to have a long drawn out war and a peaceful solution was far easier to achieve. On the note of you getting soldiers and equipment to us it is quite easy to look at. Let us say you did go through our route. Your ships have landed in the Northern Yukon and Northern Alaska, the easiest route would be to use the train systems we have built to bring your troops into Juneau where they would then be distributed to where they were needed. The second route you could do is to do as you said and land in the Hudson Bay area, and troops and their equipment would be flown to Juneau and further distributed. There is a third option, you could push through the Russian Arctic Sea and attack them on their home turf. Forcing them to divert forces from Alaska and back to the homeland."

"You clearly do not understand the issue with logistics as well as the nations and territory we would have to pass through to even get to you. The Arctic is mostly frozen all the time, so there isn't a huge window to even transport such quantities of men and supplies, planes are really out of the question considering the pure cost of such aircraft transportation and the amount of time in which there would be huge gaps left open where my troops would not be supplied would impose a huge risk. We cannot pass through the Canals as we have no treaties with any that controls the canals in South America, and we simply cannot go past the Falklands without alerting the entire East Asian Imperium of our presence. Unfortunately until it is such a time that you gain access to the Hudson Bay and build a port there in which we could have easy access through waters we control, we cannot sign a mutual defense treaty. We are more than willing to sign an economic treaty, with shared intelligence clauses for the best interests of mutual security, as well as an optional defense clause as part of the treaty. There is just far too much risk without secured safety of our soldiers should war be inclined to happen, it would be more of a risk bringing them to the fight than the actual fight happening. We hope you understand and would be willing to sign the treaty we have recommended."

Adella stayed quiet for a moment contemplating the choices she had, she could continue to press and possibly get a better treaty but she had the feeling that she would just get kicked out. On the other hand, the treaty he was proposing would benefit Cascadia quite greatly. As well as that Cascadia had not earned their trust just yet, and is she ever hoped to unite Cascadia and Nordic Hammer she would need to have a good ending to the meeting with the Nordisk Rike. After a few moments she piped up, "Cascadia can agree to the fruitful treaty that you have proposed, as I fully understand the position the Nordisk Rike is in."

"Then I believe we have come to to an agreement, we will sign an Optional Defense, Optional Aggression Military Agreement. Is there anything else that Cascadia would wish to discuss with the Rike Today?" Arn would fold his hands in his lap and await a reply from the younger woman in front of him.

(OOC: Do you want me to write up an actual treaty, or just go with a blanket treaty that isn't written up but we know what the terms are?)

"No I believe that is all that was needed to be discussed. As always The Nordisk Rike is welcome to again open diplomatic dialogue between our two nations if an issue arises." Adella would stand and present her hand to Arn.

(I am good with a blanket treaty. I never forget who my friends are.)

He would stand up and extend his hand to shake hers. "It has been a pleasure, and I do hope that this treaty opens up the door for further relations of ours to prosper. Please feel free to take a tour of the country, the Northern Parts of the Rike weren't hit by the nuclear weapons so they are relatively safe to wander about with out the need for a gas mask."
