Peace through Power

Hanover troops had mysteriously been readied for some time now under the command of General Steele and some members of the military were talking about fighting against the French even though no records of such fighting were to be found. Sensing this barely restrained blood lust among the soldiery the troops were given orders to march into the unclaimed territory to the east of the Hanover mainland and claim it in the name of Hanover. The soldiers gladly did so as one hundred thousand combat troops crossed the border and began to carry out occupation procedures in this newly claimed land, supported of course by support units and one thousand Abrams battle tanks of the Hanover military.

No resistance was to be expected of course with this being unclaimed land but security forces outside of the usual military structure scoured the newly occupied territory for any signs of resistance and any found attempting to perform or gather for such acts would quickly and ruthlessly be hunted down and captured to face punishment.

For now no public messages would be sent out to the wider world but the British and Hesse governments would be informed that Hanover was expanding its territory and control for the purposes of unification and stability.

With the border regions secure, military engineering teams would be sent in to establish military camps with the long term goal of turning these camps into fully functioning bases. Extra soldiers would be brought in to guard these camps to allow the current troops in the territory to continue expanding Hanover control for the territory. In addition to this Hanover soldiers would bring in supplies and other helpful measures to increase their standing in the eyes of the native populace.

From airfields across Hanover numerous transport planes would lift off from the runways, loaded with paratroopers they would fly over the border with the eastern unclaimed territory and head out to the edges of said territory. Here the paratroopers would leap from the planes and make their way to the ground below, they would gather together and ensure that the borders were secure from outside interference. This should ensure that security for Hanover's annexation was complete and that no outsiders could get in without being discovered.

It was to be expected and now it had begun to occur the first town refused to bow before the military might of Hanover, grabbing hunting rifles and a few older weapons of war the people of a small German town attempted to fortify their home by blocking the roads with cars and setting up barricades against windows and doors. Reports were sent back to the commanders and the order was returned by General Steele. That order was to wipe them out. Communications were blocked so no word could get out and then the attack began, two battle tanks advanced forward and swiftly destroyed the feeble blockages on the roads with their main cannons, the soldiers then advanced and within the hour they had beaten back and destroyed the enemy resistance. Most of the resisters were killed in the fighting, those few that survived were handed over to the security troopers who took them away for processing.

The soldiers and tanks then moved on to the next town while the security troopers established a local headquarters in this newly conquered town so they could ensure that the people living within it followed and obeyed the Hanover government.

The forces of Hanover continued to advance through the land like a black tide, sweeping aside any attempt at resistance they encountered. The people of the land were given a single choice join with and become a part of Hanover or face imprisonment. Those that chose to join willingly kept their jobs, their homes and were allowed to live their lives to the full, those that resisted but surrendered were given a lower status as befitted them while those that resisted to the end were killed or captured and sent to the prison camps to be reeducated into serving members of the Hanover community. With a full communications black out all of this would carry on with none the wiser and it was expected that the reunification of the land would be completed within a month or two.

A break through by the intelligence division of the Hanover military uncovered a meeting of known resistance cell leaders in a small German town, a small air mobile strike force was sent in to apprehend the cell leaders. Flying in low, in a trio of Blackhawk helicopters the strike force hit the two from three different directions. Resistance was moderate as resistance forces attempted to break through the strike force but ultimately failed in that objective. Losses were almost total for the resistance cells and four of the five expected cell leaders were either killed or captured. Losses to the strike force were low and no non combatants were killed or injured. The escape of the remaining cell leader though worrisome was not expected to be too major of a setback.

Over an hour later the consequences of allowing that one cell leader to escape became felt when a resistance team drove a soft bed truck into the middle of a column of infantry soldiers making their way through one of the many small villages. Explosives were detonated inside the truck, though the size of the explosion was small revealing they had used little actual explosives. The real damage came from the chemical weapons that had been loaded inside with the resistance suicide team and it was mostly these weapons that caused the deaths of over forty Hanover soldiers and thirteen civilians from the village. A NBC team was brought in to collect samples and evidence and to begin searching for clues to where the chemical weapons came from.

The resistance collapsed under orders of the last remaining cell leader, the Hanover military spread out and switched from an aggressive stance to a more peaceful one. The people would be welcomed into the nation of Hanover as friends and equals because why the $%&@ not you got to keep people happy.

To the Hannoveranian government,

For quite some time now, the Romanian people have been friends of the Central European peoples and liberators, among others, of these peoples from the Alvonian regime. While the people of Central Europe seem to now be organising themselves, we would like to uphold good relations. The Hannoveranian state in particular has caught our attention and we would like to invite you to Bucharest, so we might discuss ties between our nations, in the interest of security, stability, peace and national sovereignity. It would be an honour to host you.

With regards,

Mihaela Constante, Conducătora and Regent of Greater Romania

First let me say thank you for your message it has been met with much warmth and friendliness here in Hanover. I would personally be delighted to visit Greater Romania to see the land, its culture and its people. I look forward to meeting with you in person shortly as I shall take a quick flight to Greater Romania to be there in person.

With regards,

Emperor Klaus Steiner I of Hanover.

It was thought and hoped that the rebel threat had truly been ended but that hope was ruthlessly crushed when a series of bombings occurred through out Hanover territory resulting in the deaths of over two hundred innocent Hanover civilians. Graffiti and messages left at the scenes of the bombings all stated that they were in retaliation over the illegal occupation of the German territory bordering the Hanover nation. Attempts were made, serious attempts, to keep the populace calm but a furious fervor ripped through the Hanover citizenry as they called for the rebel threat to be destroyed once and for all.

Left with little choice Emperor Klaus Steiner I called for a full mobilization of the Hanover Imperial military and soon enough thousands of Imperial soldiers began to march into the unclaimed German territory to the east. The security forces already there were relieved of duty and returned home while new fully functioning and operational military bases began to be built in the newly claimed territory to help combat the rebel menace.

The Emperor was heard to say "that the rebels will soon witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station military power".

The Emperor would be vastly saddened by the collapse of the Countal government in Hesse and would immediately send diplomats and administrators to bring the land of Hesse into the Kingdom of Hannover as soon as was possible. In memory for the previous government a small memorial would be commissioned in their honour.

When reports came in of Alvonian troops invading the lands of Hesse the full military might of the Kingdom of Hannover would be mobilized and the majority would be sent to and over the border into Hesse itself. Fighter planes and EW planes would take to the air and begin immediate air superiority operations at once while bomber planes were loaded for extensive air to ground combat.

In addition to all of this the following message would be sent to the Alvonian government:

"Your presence in the former lands of Hesse is not required or wanted by us or the inhabitants of the land. Please remove yourselves at once. They have asked to join us and we will gladly agree to their wishes. Once again remove yourselves."

Imperial Hannover troops continued to move through the former country of Hesse being met with much applause and welcome by the citizens as they were overjoyed at their requests being answered. In total four hundred thousand Imperial soldiers and six thousand Abrams battle tanks with supporting light armour, recon and specialized units would advance towards the South securing the territory as they went. As former Hesse military units were encountered they would be absorbed into the Imperial military to which they all readily agreed to. In the air full squadrons of the Imperial Air Force protected the ground troops as they advanced through Hesse ready to engage air or ground targets depending on their load outs and mission.

Classified

In silos across the Kingdom of Hannover Final Solution X would be readied for immediate action if required though no outward sign would be given that such measures were being put in place to avoid any other nations detecting it.

The Kingdom of Hanover would look inwards now, focusing on improving and expanding the nation's industrial power. In swift succession new factories would begin to be built thus leading to a need for more power stations which would have to be built and with more power even more factories could be constructed. Some of these factories would be assigned to producing Imperial arms and armour for the military but the majority would be put into use producing civilian goods. As the same time the Kingdom records showed that the nation's total population was experiencing a sizable increase and that further housing would be required.
