With insomnia, nothing's real. Everything's far away. Copy of a Copy of a Copy

Mogar

Recommended Posts

Mogar stood in the laboratory, while nowhere near as emotionally stimulating as the one in Rapture or the Cape, it still had a certain charm, though he wished it was in a building with his name upon the side, there would be time for that later.

The closest capsule to him finished its process, the fluid draining from the container and it opened upon the press of a button, inside lay a nude lithe form, fully grown in under six hours. another button press and her eyes fluttered opened, she looked around for a moment, confused, "W-Where am I?" she asked in a whisper. "Do you know who you are? How old you are?" Mogar asked politely. "I'm Kazuko, Empress Hoshiko, I'm [Redacted] years old, but how did I get here?" He merely smiled and pressed another button, the door closing and a mist filling the capsule, returning her to slumber. Eternal Life was just a few skin flakes away.

"I remember these days. Trying to find a way to extend what I was, without really realizing what I was. Not realizing truly that I need not do such things. I cloned myself.. mutated myself.. had Saboria manipulate me to cure my radiation poisoning. When I had the power to do so the entire time." He sighed as he spoke from the shadows. "All the same, good work. Until you escape flesh though, you'll still be within the grasp of mortality." The six winged seraph dragon quietly sharpened his talons with a nail file as he leaned against a wall.. his 6 wings folded forward around him in a relaxed state.

"Dreaming about extending the dream.. it's kind of ironic."

He looked around the room at the sound of the voice, "I'm never going to get used to such entrances. I'll have to ask you to be careful with the place, perhaps when I rebuild MoG[Corp] you can come destroy the place, I like keeping my construction workers busy after all." He'd pause for a moment looking over his guest, "You must be Mr Vortex, if I remember right those from Shanghai had a more traditional look. This is merely a favor, I mastered such technology... centuries ago now. I sense you are a traveler as well. I have tried the whole dying thing, it was not a pleasant experience, I'd rather not go through that again."

"Why enter at all if not in style?" He chuckled. "Destroy it? What makes you think I am going to do that?" He looks over all the complex machinery. "Unless you need a reason to keep your construction workers employed and want me to do you the favor." He was very curious, poking around, looking at all the scientific equipment.

Carefully he walked over towards the chamber, trying not to scuff the floor with his rear claws, talons held up and away from its surface. "Those in Shanghai are not like me. To be honest, I'm not even really a Dragon at all. I am so much more than just that. I'm like an onion with many layers."

To the comments on dieing he would cant his head, "Yes, the whole physically malfunctioning is annoying while it lasts, fortunately unless something is holding you in life it is typically brief. Aging, the part that leads up to the primary malfunctions is almost as bad as those last few minutes. You know.. I don't even know if I qualify as 'living'." He tapped his jaw. "I just.. am. Hrmm.. 'I am', I like that. catchy.. but I think it was already used before. Probably by Dad. But if I go around using it I'll just come across as some smug pretentious jerk."

He skewed his gaze back to Mogar. "Have we met before? I don't think I know you yet. The Empress seems to be in good hands."

"She is not my Empress, I do not believe we have met, but fortunately one of the benefits of this experiment was gaining access to all of her memories." He smiled, "I am from a different timeline, or perhaps the same one, I have not been able to ascertain that, but it is rather unimportant I suppose. The important part is that I have little stake in this world, and Hoshiko asked a favor of me to ensure she will not have to be concerned with the trivial concept of death, I prefer my own method but this was the best I could do without my Labratory back home. For me if I were to die, another world be created near instantaneously, I would have to go through a process to regain my particular enhancements, but I brought spares."

He began manipulating the fingers of his right hand to bring up a hologram detailing the augmentations, electronics were implanted nearly everywhere, modifications to the rib cage, dramatically enhancing its strength. Femur, Tibula and Fibula, Humerus, Scapula, Radial, and Ulna bones all replaced with metallic alloys. "I suppose you did not come here to be lectured of my own creativity though, If I understood it, us even having a conversation is rather moot due to your gifts. After working to copy her brain, I am guessing that power is not as effective on someone so broken, and she is why you are here..."

"I've taken an interest in her. A sort of feeling of pity for what this world has put her through to render her into such a state." He sighed. "She would probably detest the sentiment in her bids to be as strong as she wishes to be. But she is a dream, and unlike us dreams are easily broken."

For a moment he paused to think then continued, "I am of the opinion you are a dreamer like myself based on your descirptions. How much you are aware of your capabilities, I'm not quite certain. Perhaps she doesn't need me at all. Perhaps you just need to realize your own potential in this matter. Your gifts are likely as near limitless as my own. But, you have to be careful with them. Near limitless, is still limited. This world will only recgonize so much, you have to have a basis for every action grounded in the rules the dreamers have all agreed to otherwise simple disbelief is powerful enough to unwind it. If my thoughts are correct, you don't really need all those enhancements."

"You indicated there may be a way I could help you?" The gaze of the seraph dragon looked up from the holograms to Mogar. "What is it you would need done that you cannot do yet? Transfer her soul perhaps?"

An interesting question. "Regarding the Empress, there only cure for her is time, and perhaps love, leadership breeds isolation after all." reminded of his own loneliness when MoG[Corp] controlled Southeast Asia. "I'm certainly not average, I don't really know enough about your religion to know if I am a dreamer. I can tell you that I'm something like 300 years old now, visited hell, and my girlfriend probably got kidnapped by my girlfriend I had in hell, certainly not your normal fairy tale. I know my gifts stretch far beyond what I had believed before The Fall, but I also have stayed in this world for far longer than I had planned.

I came here to gather sixty six artifacts, some of which were destroyed in my own timeline, but survived here. A particular event has kept away from my... muse for far too long." He'd bring up a holographic image of Antasija, "She went missing approximately four months ago, there were signs of a struggle of some type with the reek of sulfur, which leads me to believe she was kidnapped."
