To: Great Britain Minister of Foreign Affairs
From: French Minister of Foreign Affairs

To Whom it may concern;

France formally thanks Great Britain for its support regarding the unfortunate situation with Italy, and would like to enter in discussions regarding the subjects of trade, non aggression, and work towards a more unified Europe, so that we all may begin looking outwards instead of worrying about our own backyard.

Maximillian Bauer
French Minister of Foreign Affairs

He shook his counterparts extended hand, offering a smile alongside it before sitting. "I'm still not used to flying, but it is fascinating how quickly one can travel today. I am hopeful that our diplomatic reset has reset relations with you as well, as Britain has been incredibly generous in its assistance with this unfortunate Italian situation that has sprouted up. Europe has been the leaders of this planet for the past five hundred years, it would be unfortunate to allow our empires to crumble because we're all too busy destroying each other."

'Italy has always been a problem, a spineless disgusting problem. Flipflopping in the Great War to be on the winning side and now doing nothing but being a proverbial pain in my arse. I get intelligence updates daily from our fleets and observation aircraft and it makes for some boring reading let me tell you. As for being world leaders? The world is changing Minister and we need to change with it. we need to remove our old attitudes and replace them with newer, more liberal attitudes if we are to move forwards.'

'That aside, the Empire has little concern or interest in the goings on of mainland Europe until it directly interferes with us, we are more concerned with our colonies in Africa and America. If italy wants to play hardball, the Royal Navy will sink every last Italian ship and convoy, civilian or not whilst the armies presently massing in Europe steamroll into Rome. So, I ask you Minister, what brings you to London?'

He couldn't help be smirk, "It is good to see we share a similar mindset towards the Italians, I was hoping we could pool our resources to ensure the Americas and Africans do not become too much of a problem. Our government noticed that individually, European powers cannot stand against a United Americas, while unfortunate, a lesson can be learned that we too need to work together to project our power beyond our borders, France and Great Britain have had a colorful history, of both friends and adversaries. We worked together with you during the Great War, and in this chaotic times it is the belief of my government that combined we can ensure a future in which we stand as leaders of Europe, and by extension, Africa and the Atlantic as well."

'A united Americas is of no concern to Britain, we managed to get amicable terms for our colonies and as it stands, we hold a monopoly on exports to Europe from British colonies in central america and the caribbean. It is a similar situation with Africa, no disrespect to France, but North Africa is barren and empty, with little to no natural resources or precious materials to speak of, wheras Britain holds the resource and mineral rich south. We have access to the trade routes to the east through our African territory and have built up a good working relationship with Duisternis. The Empire is strong, rich and well positioned throughout the world, you know the old saying... the sun never sets..' he said, leaning back in his chair.

'France likewise holds considerable clout over the straits of Gibraltar, but your downfall is, and I am sorry, but a pitiful navy, you lack the manpower to fight a war with Spain and Italy at the same time simply on numbers alone unless you begin extensive fortification on the Alps and Pyrenees to fight a defensive war, and this isnt even taking into account your western border and colonial territories. France is weak sir. Gallant and brave, but weak and badly positioned with a military balanced in all the wrong areas. If you lost your armies in africa and they were forced to retreat, your navy would get cut to pieces getting into the med or sailing across it by submarines, then the vast convoys of troops ships would get obliterated on the return journey.' he continued, being careful with his tone of voice to not give th wrong impression.

'Finally, you speak of domination and standing as leaders of the global stage. The Empire does not want to dominate, we do not want to lead. We want strong trading links, strong and reliable allies. We want security and stability so our interests are not threatened or interfered with. Mr Bauer with great respect, let us tone back the rhetoric and speak realistically and bluntly. What does France want out of a relationship with Britain?'
