Colonial-Spanish-Flag.jpg

Established: 1932 (Fall of Spanish Republic)

Government: Single party fascist totalitarian dictatorship (Contras)

Head of State: Carlos Mendoza (Head of state, Prime Minister of Spain, Emperor of the Second Empire)

Currency: Pesetas

Population: 42.7 million, 28.4 million in Spanish Sahara, 3.4 million in Spanish Guiana (note undocumented locals not accounted for.)

Unemployment: 8.6%

Civil Liberties: The average Spanish citizen is free to live their lives however they wish, but it is considered wise not to speak against the Imperial regime. Many are forced to regular raids in the more isolated regions of the mainland for possible Republican supporters. Non-Spanish citizens, primarily in the colonies, are often oppressed and treated as second class citizens. In its early years under the Mendoza regime, Spanish Sahara rebelled for its independence, it resulted in a very lop sided short war that saw native Africans massacred.

Economy: Everything within the Empire is under state control, businesses must pay heavy taxes and must get approval from the state to trade with foreign companies. Jobs are rare but anyone can join the military which proves to be one of the few well paying jobs left in the Empire. Secondary education is funded by the state and anyone can enroll into one of the major universities and pursue a degree in whatever field they want in but jobs aren't guaranteed.

Imperial Army: The Imperial Army is the largest branch of the Spanish Armed forces, it was formed shortly after the Republic fell. Over 1,400,000 members strong it is one of the largest armed forces in Europe. Infantry are often trained over a minimum of two weeks and shock troops undergo intense training in Spanish Guiana.

Primary firearms: Kar 98k(doubles as Spain's sniper rifle) MP-18, MP-35, MG-34(mounted mg), Beretta Model 38.

Secondary firearms: Smith and Wesson Model 101 revolver, Beretta M1935

Other: Model 24 grenade

Spanish soldier conducting field training, most of the Imperial army's equipment is German, how it got there is speculated that war profiteers sold both sides excessive munitions left over from World War 1.

African Corps: Formed after the Sahara uprisings, the African Corps is a special tactical force that operates in the African colonies. 400,000 in member strength they're often engaged in continuous patrols and police actions against the local population as well as provide defense for the Spanish colonies. They're armed with the Beretta Model 38 a submachine gun that gives them an extreme edge over the local population.

Armored Corps:

Medium Tanks: Panzer II, S35 SOMUA.

Light Tanks: Mark VIII, Fiat M13/40

Imperial Air Force: The Air Force is held in high regard in the Spanish Empire, fighter pilots must pass entrance exams conduct and pass a flight test and are expected to do repairs to their fighter craft. Imperial pilots are held in high regard within Imperial Spain.

Fighter Craft: BF-109, Fiat G.50,Brewster Buffalo(Spanish Naval aircraft), Yokosuka B4Y, Bristol Bulldog (used for training and reserves)

Bomber craft:  Savoia-SM.81s, Piaggio P.108

Imperial Navy: Unlike the rest of the armed forces the Spanish navy has suffered and fallen behind, most of the fleet has been reserved to protecting trade lanes between the mainland and the colonies. Though outdated the Imperial Navy is still formidable in combat and capable of causing sufficient damage.

Carlos Mendoza

Occupation: Head of State, Founder of Contras Party

Mendoza was born to a middle class family near Valencia, he lived a relatively normal childhood, his father joined the French Foreign Legion during World War 1 and was killed in the battle of Gallipolli. After the war ended Mendoza began assembling together what would become the Contras party, Mendoza began to believe along with his fellow party members that the Spanish Republic had become corrupt and that it needed to be changed for the better. In the 1920s the Contra Party had grew significantly and had become one of the larger political parties challenging the current political sphere. In 1923 fearing that Mendoza would overtake the next election, a police officer named Otto Vasquez illegally arrested Mendoza and his top lieutenant on charges of treason. Mendoza was tortured for five days and his lieutenants, some of which were close friends, were killed in the outskirts of Madrid. Before being left to die in the middle of a field, Vasquez carved out Mendoza's right eye and his throat thinking he would die. Mendoza was saved by a young farmer named Garcia Tavares who took him in, Mendoza realizing his party was in danger and believing Vasquez was under direct orders from the Republic, Mendoza ordered the formation of a military force and pushed for the uprising for a new nation.

By 1928 the Contras had built a formidable military force and began launching attacks on Republic military bases and seizing several towns, Contra forces quickly overwhelmed the Republic. In desperation the Republic put itself into debt the bulk its military against the rebellion, but this back fired almost immediately when General Diego Padron betrayed the Republic and defected to the rebellion. To show his loyalty to Mendoza, he captured and brought officer Vasquez who at the time had been fighting in the army, Mendoza looked at the man who killed his friends and disfigured him and stabbed him to death gouging out his eyes and ordering his head to be removed and placed outside of the Madrid police station. With Padron's forces Mendoza took over Spain within a matter of days, military forces overseas quickly crushed Republican supporters and the civil war ended with Mendoza forming the Second Spanish Empire.

Mendoza is known for being cold, quiet and extremely cruel. He is seen as the founding father of the new empire and is called by few as Emperor of Spain.

Classified Military Information

Level 1 Priority

Shock Troopers

Quite possibly the most feared and effective soldiers in the Empire are the Shock Troopers. Private soldiers to Mendoza, they're trained from their teen into deadly killing machines. Training takes place in Spanish Guiana where almost inhuman levels of endurance tests and combat practices take place. The end result is a soldier fully capable of doing near everything in their power to fulfill his/her objective. They wear black uniforms similar to normal soldiers but are often distinguished by their headgear a full gas mask covers their head to protect them from poison gas attacks and to inflict intimidation onto their foes. Only 2,500 of these Troopers are in active service the major downside is that training is extensive and takes five years to fully take affect. They're often the best armed in the Imperial army getting first dibs on various weapons in R&D and carry out various combat and even espionage missions for the Empire. Most candidates are 'donated' to the Empire by their families who in turn receive very generous state assistance for those passable to enter training.

While it may disgust others how much humanity is stripped away, these soldiers are near perfect.

TP-38 Prototype

Based off the MP-18 technology this firearm could replace the MP-18 and even the Kar 98 as the Imperial weapon of choice for our armed forces. It fires a 9mm round from a 30 round clip. Light, accurate, and easy to do maintenance to it is a great achievement for our country. Right now mass production has been held back due to lack of funds for a new firearm as Mendoza focuses on the outdated Navy. Shock Troops use the weapon in the mainland and several Agents are given the weapon on high risk operations.

Admiral Antonio Juarez

Occupation: Admiral of the Spanish Imperial fleet

Born to a traditionalist family living near the Portuguese border, Juarez joined the Republic navy serving on the ISS De Soto. When the civil war broke out most of the navy defected to the rebels as most of the personal were already underpaid and some sailors going months without pay due to the financially broken republic. Juarez became a captain of the destroyer ISS Drago and led Contra forces to swift victories along the African coast against loyalist forces remaining in the fleet. Mendoza named him Admiral of the Spanish fleet after the civil war giving him control over the entire fleet. Juarez pushed and rebuilt the Imperial fleet into a formidable force stretching patrols far across the Atlantic securing trade routes, Juarez eventually became involved in the first Cuban crisis where his fleet was deployed to Cuba to support uprisings wanting Spanish annexation, when Spanish forces left Juarez was quoted by some of his officers to be relieved as the spanish navy wasn't ready for all out war. Years later he was once again heading toward Cuba as war broke out between the Spanish Empire and CSA.

Alfred Mendoza

Occupation: General of 4th Spanish army, member of the Contra Party, heir to the Imperial throne

While the Spanish empire knows well of Carlos Mendoza and his rise to become Emperor of a powerful fascist state, almost no one knows of the heir to the Empire his cousin Alfred Mendoza. Alfred was born to a wealthier family living in Madrid and didn't become involved with the Contra rebellion until Carlos was tortured and left for dead. Alfred was a renown tactician and brutal soldier during the civil war, his most infamous incident was ordering the execution of over 2,000 captured Republican troops after the battle of Salamanca. After the civil war he was given command of the 4th army and direct responsibility for the Spanish mainland's defense. He was appointed heir to the Imperial throne up until one of Carlos Mendoza's sons becomes of age, ever since then Alfred has become recluse and hard to come in contact with. The only person that can make conversation with him at a whim is of course his Emperor cousin, other than that only officers within the Imperial army have seen him. Alfred Mendoza now spends his days coordinating with the war effort and hunting down anyone who might be plotting against the Empire within Spain and Portugal. It is rumored that he has a wife and three sons living in Lisbon and keeps outsiders from knowing about them fearing they would be targeted.
